Abstract: Background: Decompressive craniectomy (DC) has emerged as a vital intervention for various neurological conditions, aiming to alleviate intracranial pressure and improve patient outcomes. However, the optimal extent of decompression remains debatable, balancing the benefits of reducing intracranial pressure against the risks of complications such as paradoxical herniation. This study aimed to assess the adequacy of decompression following DC using volumetric analysis, aiming to provide objective measurements of intracranial volume.....

Abstract: Audiometry is the process of assessing hearing acuity. When conducted exclusively using pure tones, it is referred to as pure tone audiometry. In the Audiology unit of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, a cross-sectional prospective study was undertaken over the course of a year, spanning from March 2016 to February 2017. This study focused on patients admitted to the hospital who presented complaints of hearing impairment. A total of two hundred cases with hearing complications were included in this study, selected based on interviews, medical history, examination findings, and investigative reports…

Abstract: Introduction: Neural fibrolipoma is a benign tumor characterized by infiltration of epineurium by adipose and fibrous tissues. This tumor is commonly seen in peripheral nerve but occurring and involving the spinal nerves is extremely rare. We report a case of spinal neural fibrolipoma in a 35 year old man who presented with paraplegia and bi-sphincteric incontinence of more than a year duration. Examination findings revealed muscle power of 0/5 in both lower limbs and sensory level was T2. Magnetic Resonance Imaging showed an intradural extra-medullary mass from....

Abstract: Gall bladder surgery has come a long way from completely conservative measures to a no-scar technique (notes). Every new technique brought a new change, especially in the size of the incision, and has attained the safest possible level. Cholecystectomy is the standard treatment for symptomatic gallstones, and it has been performed for over 100 years. The standard treatment for gall bladder diseases in the past was open surgery, which was a full laparotomy from the xhiphi sternum to the pubic symphysis. This was then reduced to standard laparotomy i.e., below the umbilicus, then to kocher's incision and later to minilap.......

Abstract: Background
Emergencies arising from obstetric conditions are the highest causes of maternal mortality in the world, and most significantly in developing countries where illiteracy, poverty, absence of antenatal care and lack of equipment and staff, further encourage the menace. Patients with critical obstetric and gynaecological conditions pose a challenge to the obstetrician and gynaecologist and thus require extra management expertise.
Objectives In this study, we investigated the incidence of cases, administered interventions and determined the mortality of admitted obstetrics and gynaecology patients........

Abstract: Background: Postoperative pain management is an important factor for good surgical outcomes. Acute pain gives a warning for potential tissue damage. Trauma, post-operative pain, muscle spasm are examples of acute pain. Management of it aims to reduce or eliminate pain with minimal side effects. The effective relief of pain is of the utmost importance to anyone who is undergoing surgery. Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare the effect of adjuvants Dexmedetomidine and Fentanyl with 0.25% Bupivacaine infiltration intraperitoneally for laparoscopic cholecystectomy in terms of pain severity. Methods: The sample was selected by random........

Abstract: Background: Organophosphate compounds (OPC) are one of the major causes of poisoning worldwide. In Bangladesh, it remains as an important health problem along with a poor prognosis. The standard treatment of OPC (Atropine and Pralidoxime) is not enough to reduce the mortality and morbidity burden. Abstract: Background: Enhancing the quality of life (QoL) for cancer patients is crucial, especially when there are only marginal improvements in survival rates. The diagnosis itself can cause a great deal of stress and negatively impact a person's well-being in all aspects of their life. Patients often undergo multiple treatment modalities, which can further impair their QoL. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive understanding of these impacts. Therefore, the main goal of this study was to assess the QoL of cancer patients receiving different modes of treatments.....
