Abstract: Background: Oral manifestations can be used to detect a range of systemic disorders. Gingival enlargement can occur owing to local circumstances, drugs, hormonal changes, or malignant disorders. Dental surgeons must accurately diagnose and refer patients with leukemia, a malignancy characterized by abnormal white blood cell proliferation in the bone marrow. Oral changes may be the only presenting feature, making timely diagnosis and referral crucial to avoid fatal outcomes. This article discusses a case of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) characterized by swollen gums for...

Abstract: A sixteen year old boy was presented with esthetic concerns in his upper anterior teeth. On clinical examination both the maxillary central incisor revealed fracture of the crown. Radiographic evaluation revealed open apex of both central incisors. Apexification with Biodentine was carried out in two different methods as bioroot inlay and thermoplastized condensation. In six months follow up both the tooth were clinically and radiographically asymptomatic

Abstract: Background: Anemia is a prevalent blood condition resulting from decreased red blood cells (RBCs), also called the RBC count or haemoglobin (Hb) concentration of the peripheral blood, below the normal level in proportion to age and sex. Anemia is prevalent in every age group and gender. Around one-third of people worldwide have anemia, which is a big public health problem affecting 1·62 billion people worldwide. It is estimated that anemia causes 5, 91,000 neonatal deaths and about 1, 15,000 maternal deaths worldwide each year.....

Abstract: This case report discusses the management of Grade III Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF), a debilitating condition prevalent in the Indian subcontinent, characterized by oral mucosal stiffness and functional limitations, often associated with areca nut chewing. The patient, a 26-year-old male, presented with difficulty in mouth opening due to OSMF. Conservative treatment involving intralesional injections of placental extract, hyaluronidase, and dexamethasone, along with adjuvant therapy including lycopene supplementation and physiotherapy, was administered.....

Abstract: Neuroendocrine small cell carcinomas are most commonly seen in the lung and they rarely aries in the extrapulmonary sites. Small cell carcinoma of tongue is an extremely rare entity with only eight cases reported till date.A50 years old male presented with left side neck swelling proliferative growth at the base of tongue Histopathologically and immunohistochemistry confirmed as a small cell carcinoma of base of tongue. We discuss clinical, pathological, radiological finding and management of small cell carcinoma of base of tongue. These are all important for the correct diagnosis of small cell carcinoma. As no standard therapeutic regimen exists for extrapulmonary SCC .The patient was treated with combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Abstract: Porcelain laminate veneers have emerged as a popular choice in cosmetic dentistry, offering a blend of aesthetic appeal and functional durability. This case series presents two distinct clinical scenarios where porcelain laminate veneers were employed to address aesthetic concerns and restore dental integrity. Case 1: A 32-year-old female presented with chipped front teeth, affecting her smile aesthetics. Following a comprehensive diagnostic process, including history, examination, and shade selection, the patient underwent the placement of three porcelain...

Abstract: Background: Dengue (break-bone fever) is a vector-borne viral disease caused by the dengue virus (DENV) spreads through the infected female mosquito bite. Aedes aegypti mosquito act as vector in transmitting the disease to humans. The dengue virus initially replicates in the mosquito midgut later disseminate to secondary tissues, including the salivary glands. Diabetes Mellitus has been significantly linked to chronic inflammation is unambiguous. Abstract: Background: Decompressive craniectomy (DC) is a crucial procedure for managing intracranial hypertension (ICHT) refractory to medical treatment. The increasing utilization of DC has led to a growing demand for subsequent cranioplasty, particularly among patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI), spontaneous subarachnoid haemorrhage, and malignant cerebral infarction. Hemodynamic changes following cranioplasty play a pivotal role in patient outcomes, necessitating comprehensive monitoring to ensure perioperative stability and minimize neurological complications. This prospective observational study aimed to assess hemodynamic parameters in patients undergoing cranioplasty at a tertiary health center. Material & Method: The study....

Abstract: Spinal teratomas, particularly in the pediatric population, present a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge due to their rarity and diverse clinical presentations. We present a case of a dorsal mature teratoma in a two-year-old child, a rare occurrence not associated with dysraphism. The patient's clinical history revealed delayed walking followed by progressive paraparesis leading to incomplete paraplegia with trophic disorders in both lower limbs. Diagnostic imaging, particularly MRI, played a crucial role in preoperative assessment, while histopathological......

Abstract: Adolescence is an important development phase between childhood and adulthood, which is marked by many physical, psychological and social changes. During this period, the individuals are highly energetic, enthusiastic and often show the tendencies to take independent decisions. These behaviors often lead the adolescents to drug abuse. By considering all these facts, it is necessary that concrete steps have to be formulated for eliminating drug abuse among adolescents.....

Abstract: Mesiodens, a supernumerary tooth located in the midline of the maxilla, is a relatively common developmental anomaly. This case report presents the clinical and radiographic findings of a nine-year-old boy diagnosed with mesiodens. The patient presented with complaints of discomfort and aesthetic concerns in the upper front region of the oral cavity. Clinical examination revealed the presence of an additional tooth between the central incisors. Radiographic evaluation confirmed the presence of a mesiodens, which was identified as a conical supernumerary tooth. Treatment options were.....

Abstract: Background: The lower limbs pose challenges for reconstruction in cases of complex injuries due to less distensible skin and scant subcutaneous tissue. Satisfactory muscular flaps are limited to the proximal two-thirds of the leg, while graft use is constrained. The sural flap, with its diverse sources of nourishment, provides a viable alternative, particularly for treating complex wounds in the distal region of the legs and feet without microsurgery. This study aims to provide a theoretical review and report the experience of the plastic surgery department at Hospital de Base.....
