Abstract: Aim: The purpose of this systematic review was to comparatively evaluate the survivability, crestal bone loss, and pink esthetic score of immediately loaded implants in both immediately placed and delayed placed dental implants. Material and methods: Electronic searches of dental literature were performed to collect information on survivability, crestal bone loss, and pink esthetic score based on the objective criteria of immediate loading. The levels of evidence accepted were randomized control trials, cohort studies, retrospective clinical studies, and prospective studies......

Abstract: Background: Left-sided breast cancer radiotherapy in Bangladesh, a resource-limited setting, necessitates optimizing treatment strategies to minimize cardiac toxicity while maintaining efficacy. This study explores the potential of Deep-Inspiratory Breath Hold (DIBH) for reducing cardiac dose in this patient population. Aim: The study aimed to assess cardiac dose with DIBH. Methodology: This retrospective study at Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka, from March 2019 to March 2023, examined sixty patients with left-sided breast cancer. It compared cardiac and organ-at-risk (OAR) dosimetry using DIBH and free-breathing techniques in Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) plans......

Abstract: Autopsy, an essential procedure in the medical field, provides a unique and comprehensive insight into the accurate cause of death, thereby validating clinical diagnoses and uncovering hidden diseases. Despite substantial advances in diagnostic imaging, molecular pathology, and laboratory techniques, there remain notable discrepancies between clinical assessments and autopsy findings. This is particularly true in the detection and characterization of tumours, both benign and malignant. Tumours often present diagnostic challenges during life due to their diverse clinical presentations, sometimes asymptomatic nature, and the inherent limitations of existing diagnostic technologies......

Abstract: Introduction: Single-shade universal resin composites are preferred in clinical practice to reduce the time for shade selection and obtain good aesthetic results. Restorative resins during their prolonged use are exposed to a variety of food and beverages and are subjected to wear and degradation resulting in failing restoration and requiring replacement. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of food-stimulating liquids on the mechanical properties of single-shade versus multi-shade composite resin. Materials and methods: 30 samples (2mmx2mmx18mm) were fabricated from Filtek Z350, Omnichroma, and Charisma Topaz One composite resin composite. The samples......

Abstract: Background: The Rh and Kell blood grouping systems are highly immunogenic and tend to generate alloantibodies responsible for the majority of transfusion reactions. Rh is the second most important blood group in terms of transfusion. It consists of various antigens including D, C, c, E, and e. The distribution and frequency of these antigens may vary among populations, and understanding their prevalence is crucial for efficient blood transfusion practices and the issue of compatible blood in patients who have developed an immune response to these antigens. This study......

Abstract: Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most common of the salivary gland malignancies, accounting for one third of cases. Only 10% of salivary gland cancer arises in the minor salivary glands. This study includes the gold standard investigation for diagnosis and timely management. Objectives: This study's primary goal is to demonstrate how important it is to include malignant lesions in the differential diagnosis of palatal swellings in younger age groups since it is not common......

Abstract: Background and objectives: leprosy caused by mycobacterium leprae bacteria, which causes a range of clinical symptoms and a persistent infection in humans that primarily affects peripheral nerves and skin. Early diagnosis and treatment with multidrug therapy has made leprosy a curable disease given that the illness frequently results in obvious physical abnormalities, individuals may experience social prejudice due to the disease's social stigma. Accordingly, patients' quality of life (qol) may be significantly impacted by leprosy. Aim of study: to use the whoqol-bref questionnaire to evaluate the effect of disability on the quality of life of leprosy patients....

Abstract: Background: Blood donation results in a loss of 200 to 250 mg of iron stores for every donation. Voluntary blood donation camps are conducted regularly to improve the availability of blood components. Donors who donate blood in these camps are mostly the existing pool of voluntary donors. Repeated donation might lead to a decrease in the donors' haemoglobin and iron store levels. Haemoglobin measurement is the only method for estimating iron levels in blood donors. This study is taken with the health of precious voluntary regular donors in mind. The study aimed to evaluate the iron status of regular voluntary blood donors by measuring their total iron profile. The study also compared the total iron profile between first-time and regular voluntary blood donors who had donated five or more times....

Abstract: Objective: Acute stroke can lead to deviations in glucose metabolism which further can worsen outcomes in terms of residual disability as well as increased mortality. In patients with acute ischemic stroke and without a past history of diabetes mellitus (DM), prevalence of hyperglycemia is 30-40%. Sometimes hyperglycemia indicates previous obscure diabetes, but more commonly it is due to an acute stress response termed as stress hyperglycemia. In this study, we have explored whether functional outcomes in non-diabetic patients with ischemic stroke correlate with hyperglycemia or not....
