Abstract: Background: Prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has increased worldwide to a frightening level in both developed and developing countries over the last decades. Higher prevalence of thyroid dysfunction among diabetic patients has been recognized than that in general population. There is a complex inter-relation between diabetes and thyroid dysfunction which involves biochemical, genetic, hormonal and pathophysiological mechanisms. Objective: Aim of the study was to.....

Abstract: Background: Age estimation plays a crucial role in forensic identification and is also valuable in archaeological and anthropological research. Various methods exist for age estimation, among which dental radiography has gained prominence due to its reliability and non-invasive nature. The pulp chamber crown root trunk height ratio (PCTHR) is an emerging method for age estimation using Orthopantomography (OPG). Objective: This study aims to establish a relationship between chronological age and PCTHR and to derive a regression model for accurate......

Abstract: Mandible is one of those facial bones which is more prone to fractures during trauma. The treatment of such fractures is necessary to prevent functional complications like malocclusion. As history has witnessed a leap in the treatment options for mandibular fractures, here we report a case of left parasymphysis and right Angle of mandible fracture treated with a straight 6 holed with gap titanium mini-plate at the right angle and a 3D titanium mini-plate at the parasymphysis, as these are best available options in recent times. The patient presented with swelling on the right lower......

Abstract: Background:
Shift work has become a prevalent work schedule globally, known to disrupt the circadian rhythm and detrimentally impact worker health. The inflammasome NLRP3, a crucial component in disease development, responds to various stimuli, including pathogen- and damage-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs and DAMPs). Calibration of NLRP3 levels may serve as an early biomarker for health risk prediction .

Abstract: Background: Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignancies and the fourth leading cause of cancer mortality in the world. HALP score is a comprehensive index that reflects components of the nutritional and immune status of patients, which had been shown to have a prognostic role in gastrointestinal cancers, including gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, colorectal cancer, and genitourinary cancers, including bladder cancer, and renal cell carcinoma. It is calculated according to the following formula: [hemoglobin (g/L) × albumin (g/L) × lymphocytes (/L)] / platelets......

Abstract: Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) are becoming more common among children and adolescents, presenting distinct diagnostic and treatment challenges. Symptoms such as pain, limited mouth opening, and joint noises differ by age, requiring a nuanced diagnostic approach. Accurate diagnosis demands a detailed clinical examination, comprehensive patient history, and advanced imaging techniques such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). Initial treatment typically involves conservative measures like occlusal splints and physical therapy, while more severe cases may necessitate orthodontic or, in rare....

Abstract: Complicated crown fractures most commonly affect maxillary anterior teeth, which raise significant aesthetic and psychological issues. The location and extent of these fracture significantly influence the available treatment options and their outcome. Restoring oblique crown fractures that extend below the gingival margin and the alveolar bone, can be challenging. In such cases exposing the fracture line into oral cavity would be desirable which can be done by gingival crown lengthening, orthodontic extrusion or surgical extrusion. With orthodontic extrusion there would be no loss.....

Abstract: The placenta forms a functional unit between the mother and the fetus, and any pathological event concerning the mother or the fetus will influence the normal function of the placenta, resulting in morphological changes. There is a paucity of literature on the histopathology of the placenta in sickle cell anaemia during pregnancy. Hence, the present study was undertaken to analyze the spectrum of histopathological changes in the placenta in sickle cell anaemia during pregnancy. This prospective study on placenta from mothers with prior consent who delivered at a tertiary care centre for a period of 2 years was undertaken in the present study. 112 mothers willing to undergo the study were selected from the admission list and divided into two groups: (1) sickle cell anaemia group (n=56.....
