Abstract: Appendicitis is a disease of modern civilization. Acute appendicitis is the most common acute surgical abdomen. Post operative complications occur in 5% of the patients with uncomplicated appendicitis, 30% in complicated appendicitis. The diagnosis of appendicitis and executing early surgery within 24 hours is mandatory to reduce incidence of complications. Appendicitis has been the hunting ground for testing various combination of systemic anitibiotics. The ideal regime should cover both gram positive aerobes and gram negative aerobes. Various antibiotic prophylaxis has been shown to minimize the incidence of SSI and duration of hospital stay. Our study concentrates on use of single dose of prophylactic antibiotic VS full course post operative antibiotic in acute appendicitis.

Authors | : | Ajitkumarkushwaha || Pradeep Prasad || Soni |
Abstract: Type 2 A multiple endocrinal neoplasia is a rare familial cancer syndrome caused due to mutation in the RET proto-oncogene characterized by medullary carcinoma of thyroid, pheochromocytoma, parathyroid hyperplasia and occasionally cutaneous lichen amyloidosis and Hirschsprung's disease. RET is expressed in neuroendocrine cells, urogenital tract cells and branchial arch cells. All patients with MEN2Adevelopes medullary carcinoma of thyroid, approximately half develop pheochromocytomas, and 30% develop
hyperparathyroidism. 50% of those with RET mutation developes the disease by the age of 50 years, and 70% develop the disease by the age of 70 years..........

Authors | : | C.Moses Samuel || Kiran Kumar Patnaik |
Abstract: Introduction: The most obese persons exhibit anatomically intact pulmonary structure. However, indirect negative influences of obesity abound, principally regarding distortion of respiratory spaces and dynamics. Subjects with excessive body weight tend to be chronically hypo ventilated and have reduced aerobic capacity, probably because of sedentarism as well as heavy thoracic wall and abdominal mass and diminished compliance........

Title | : | Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (CPVT): A Review |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Deepak Singh Bais || Liang Xiao || Wenliang Che |
Abstract: Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is an inheritable arrhythmogenic cardiac disease, which represent by exercise or emotional stress induced ventricular arrhythmias in the
nonappearanceof structural heart disease. CPVT is linked to disorder in calcium handling and the changes in Genes coding for ryanodine receptors are generally considered as responsible for the disorder. Fifty percent of cases have been reported mutations in the ryanodine receptor 2 (RyR2) gene, which regulates release of
calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum..........

Authors | : | Dr Poonam Sherwani || Dr.Rama Anand || Dr Adweta Vire || Dr Geetanjali Shrivastav |
Abstract: Raised haematocrit can cause abnormal hyperdensity of intracranial vessels and dural venous sinuses on NCCT producing an appearance of contrast enhanced scan. Increased attenuation of venous sinuses may also be seen in cortical venous thrombosis on NCCT. Here we report a case of a child with double outlet right ventricle who showed the hyperdense intracranial arteries and venous sinuses on non contrast scan mimicking the dural sinus thrombosis and also showed the presence of cerebral abscess. Presence of hyperdense arteries along with normal enhancement of the venous sinuses on contrast enhanced scans suggested high haematocrit as the cause of vascular hyperdensity

Abstract: Tuberous Sclerosis is a hereditary neuro-cutaneous disorder with multi-system manifestations, esp. the brain, heart and kidneys. Here a case series of tuberous sclerosis with multi-system involvement is reported. In Case 1: A neonate on 10th day of postnatal life was referred to our department for screening of the abdomen due to complaints of intermittent vomiting. Incidentally multiple echogenic mass lesions were found related to her myocardium. Ultrasound and Computerised tomography of her brain were also performed and revealed positive findings. In Case 2: A 15 year old male with red papules over his cheeks and a two year history of recurrent seizures underwent MRI of the brain and subcortical tubers were observed.........

Title | : | Fetus-In-Fetu Mimicking Retroperitoneal Teratoma: A Series of Two Cases |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Priyanka Jain || Dr. Sahil Singla |
Abstract: Fetus-n-fetu is a fascinating diagnosis explaining the development of 'baby within a baby'. It results out of a monozygotic diamniotic twin pregnancy in which a twin is absorbed into the body of its sibling. The surviving twin often presents with abdominal mass and the diagnosis is only confirmed by surgical exploration. It is often mimics retroperitoneal teratoma on imaging and poses a challenge for a physician in diagnosing preoperatively. Surgical excision is often curative

Abstract: Odontogenic myxoma (OM) is a rare tumourarising in the jaws. It is considered to be derived from ectomesenchymal portion of tooth germ.They are slow growing, non-metastasizing, often asymptomatic with local aggressiveness due to its infiltrative nature and hence high recurrence rate, with a high incidence of occurrence in the mandible. Most frequently occurs in second to third decade of life, seldom occurs beyond these age groups. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the odontogenic myxoma is classified as an odontogenic tumor ofectomesenchymal origin..........

Authors | : | Taha Özyürek, DDS, PhD || Neslihan Büşra Özerol, DDS, PhD |
Abstract: Aim: To compare the cyclic fatigue resistance of Revo-S and G-Star 25/.06 NiTi files using artificial canals. Materials and Methods: Twenty Revo-S (25/.06) and 20 G-Star 25/.06 NiTi files were included to this study. Two artificial stainless steel canals with 60° and 90° radii of angle, 5 mm radii of curvature and 1.5 mm inner diameter were used in the present study. Files were divided into 4 groups (n: 10) and rotated until fracture occurs using an artificial canal with torque-control endodontic motor. Time to failure of the files was recorded by a digital chronometer. Than the number of cycles to failure were calculated. The data were analyzed statistically using Independent-Samples t test. A total of 8 specimens from 2 per groups were observed under scanning electron microscope to confirm the failure of cyclic fatigue..........
