Abstract: Study of 100 cataract cases done during a period of 2 years i.e.2013 to 2015. We have observed that post-operative endophthalmitis can be prevented by strict sterilization procedure and complete pre-operative evaluation excluding any source of infection and systemic manifestations like diabetes mellitus and hyper tension. Aseptic theatre pre-operative frequent antibiotic instillation and complete asepsis during surgery.

Authors | : | By Saleh M.K || Osawe A.A || Idris S.K. |
Abstract: This is a case of a 6-year-old girl who presented with history of progressive abdominal enlargement, gross heamaturia and palpable bilateral flank masses. She has had imaging evaluation using plain abdominal radiography, ultrasonography and CT scan from which the diagnosis of bilateral Wilm's tumor was made which was confirmed at histology following biopsy. The patient had surgery thereafter with no post-operative complications.

Abstract: Blindness is one of the most significant social problems in India with uncorrected refractive errors as the second major cause of blindness and low vision. Refractive Error is an avoidable cause of visual impairment among adolescents. Its early diagnosis and treatment is the simple and most effective forms of eye care. Aims & Objective: To assess the prevalence of uncorrected refractive errors, among adolescents visiting Eye OPD, Medical College Jhansi (U.P.) and to find out association between refractive errors and its determinants...........

Title | : | Importance of Diagnosis in Selection of Orthodontic Treatment Mechanics: A Case Report |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Santosh Shukla || Dr. Harshkumar Mandan |
Abstract: The Importance of diagnosis in orthodontics cannot be over-emphasized. Based on the correct diagnosis, a proper treatment and the prognosis of the case have to be formulated. This case report presents a case in which the skeletal and dentoalveolar relation is Class III and based on this diagnosis, the treatment plan consisted firstly to achieve the harmony between the skeletal and dentoalveolar relation and then later on correcting the tooth size arch length discrepancy with extractions in both the arches to achieve a good harmonious end result. Thus the decision of balanced extractions was made after achieving balanced skeletal jaw base relation.

Abstract: Clinical laboratory plays a very important role in diagnosis and treatment decisions and became an integral part of clinical medicine. So any error in testing will contribute to major mishap in clinical decision making. In our study we have checked for the errors in analytical part of our laboratory mainly focusing on the pipetting by analyzing routine tests like glucose, creatinine and total serum bilirubin. For each parameter, 7 samples were analyzed by 6 technicians out of which one sample is a standard material of known value and one of the technicians was a senior one............

Abstract: Background: Even in 21st century, restoration of functional movement of shoulder joint after fractures of proximal humerus is still a major problem with the best of conservative and operative interventions. These fractures account 4-5% of all fracture and are not uncommon especially in older age groups. About 85% of fractures of proximal humerus are minimally displaced and are effectively treated by immobilization followed by early motion. The remaining 15% are displaced unstable fractures............

Abstract: This study was aimed to determine the prevalence of faulty crown restorations and its relationship with incidence of periapical lesion in a selected Yemeni population. We assessed a database of digital panoramic radiographs from 455 patients. The final sample consisted of 221 radiographs with 620 dental restorative teeth with ceramic crowns. The quality of crown restorations and periapical status were reviewed by checking the post-treatment radiographs. The Chi-squared statistic was used for statistical evaluation of the results. The Spearman's correlation was utilized to assess associations among the studied parameters............

Abstract: Corneal infection is the leading cause of ocular morbidity and blindness worldwide. Despite advances in treatment, infective keratitis remains clinically challenging and although the outcome can be favorable with appropriate management. The aim of the present study is to study the prevalence and distribution of bacterial and fungal keratitis and assessment of their response to treatment. Corneal scrapings were inoculated in to various media after collection and identified, assessed their antibiotic susceptibility pattern. All the patients were treated appropriately according to the etiology of infective keratitis............

Abstract: Anesthesia for cochlear implantation in pediatrics mandates deliberate hypotension to provide a better surgical field. We are reporting two paediatric cases of a 7yr old male and 8yr old female, scheduled to undergo cochlear implant, where dexmetomidine was used and its effect on clinical outcome was noted. Both patients had no history of trauma, fever or any medication uptake by mother during pregnancy and no past medical or surgical history. It was found to stabilize haemodynamic parameters: heart rate, blood pressure and provided relatively clear bloodless surgical field. It also reduced MAC(minimal alveolar concentration) of sevoflurane and decreased requirement of neuromuscular blocking agents. This surgery was performed for the first time at our institute.

Abstract: Background And Objectives: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease as defined by the Global initiative for chronic obstructive lung disease is a common preventable and treatable disease, is characterized by persistant airflow limitation that is usually progressive and associated with an enhanced chronic inflammatory response in the airways and the lungs to noxious particles or gases. Exacerbation and comorbidities contribute to the overall severity in individual patients...........

Country | : | U.S.A |
Authors | : | Deeba Kashtwari || Enrique Platin || Sally Mauriello || Ceib Phillips |
Abstract: Background:The welfare of patients require adherence to recommended radiologic guidelines. This pilot study assessed the current radiologic practice of general dentists in North Carolina and possible factors that affect these practices. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study design, using a mixed mode distribution of the survey was used. The survey was sent to a simple random sample of 1500 active community based general dentists in North Carolina............

Authors | : | Meenapriya.P.K || Kayal.L || Murali Gopika Manoharan.G.V |
Abstract: Peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCC) is a reactive lesion of oral cavity that occurs commonly associated with local trauma or irritation. More commonly it occurs in females in 4th to 6th decades of life, with a predilection for mandibular arch, anterior to 1st molar region, usually less than 2cm in size. But in the present case, PGCC was 5x4cm in size,and was in maxillary arch, producing an extra oarl asymmetry. The lesion was treated by excision and curettage, with oral hygiene instructions. One year follow up revealed no recurrence............

Abstract: We are presenting a 16-year-old boy who presented with recurrent respiratory tract infection since childhood with hypogonadism, obesity, dimness of vision and delayed developmental milestones. On further examination, he was found to be a case of Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), a rare genetic disorder with varied presentation associated with bronchiectasis. BBS is diagnosed mainly based on the clinical features developed over time. To the best of our knowledge this is the second case of BBS associated with bronchiectasis.

Abstract: Amniotic fluid provides a protected milieu for the growing fetus, cushioning the fetus against mechanical and biological injury, supplying nutrients, and facilitating growth and movement. The quantity of amnioticfluidincreases from 25 ml at 10 weeks to about 400ml at 20 wks and volume increases to about 800 -1000ml at 28 wks, plateaus near term and declines to about 400ml at 42 wks1.......

Abstract: Total knee arthroplasty is now one of the most frequently performed orthopaedic surgery worldwide. Thus revision rates have increased significantly and are expected to rise further in the coming years. Through this study, we attempt to understand the common modes of failure of total knee arthroplasty in India. A retrospective study design reviewing revision cases of total knee replacement operated between January 2014 to September 2015 for the etiology, time period since index procedure, age, sex and functional outcome after revision. )............
