Abstract: The incidence and prevalence of chronic renal disease is increasing worldwide. The incidence of new end stage renal disease in India is 100 per million population per year ( Gedela1). In India Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, glomerulonephritis and chronic interstitial nephritis are the leading causes of chronic kidney diseases. The hematological profile has a major impact on the quality of life of patients with chronic renal disease. Anemia is seen consistently in these patients contributing morbidity and mortality. Leucocyte and platelet disorder have also been described in cases of renal failure.5 Managing these co-morbid conditions can improve the quality of life in these cases. The present study was done to assess hematological parameters in case of chronic renal disease in a tertiary care hospital.

Abstract: Testicular cancers account for around 1-1.5% of male neoplasms. A vast majority are germ cell tumours (more than 90%) followed by lymphomas (around 5%) and interstitial tumours (around 2%). Carcinoid tumour of the testis is a rare tumour accounting for less than 1% of all testicular tumours. It is usually confined to the testis. Fewer than 100 cases have been reported in the literature.

Abstract: Antibiotics are commonly used in dental practice. Many dental practitioners prescribe the antibiotics to prevent possible development of pain and swelling. This is being done more out of tradition rather than any sound scientific base. This overuse of antibiotics which is leading to the emergence of antibiotic resistant bacterial strains is a global concern. Being an Endodontist or even a Dental Surgeon, it is imperative that one must stress the importance of appropriate endodontic intervention in all the involved cases, with oral antibiotic administration used only as an adjunct............

Abstract: The sale of over the counter (OTC) medicines can help individuals to self-manage symptoms. However some OTC may be abuse with over use. There is an example of such a otc drug who was suffering from a dermatological condition and was given steroids to relive his symptoms and it really worked amazingly so he started using it continually for a period of 4 yrs. which landed him into various other problems like Cushing syndrome and ophthalmological problems like steroid induced glaucoma and cataract formation

Abstract: Concrescence is union of two adjacent teeth by cementum alone without confluence of the underlying dentin. The incidence of concrescence teeth is reported to be highest in the posterior maxilla. The presence of concrescence teeth may influence teeth extraction as well as periodontal, endodontic, orthodontic and even prosthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. Unexpected complications arising from this condition may lead to legal complications. Therefore, consideration should be given to the possible occurrence, recognition, and implications of this anomaly in diagnosis and treatment planning. The rationale of this article is to report a case of teeth concrescence between an impacted third molar and an erupted second molar with that was identified post-extraction, with a review of literature

Abstract: Background: A little detail is known about the geographical catchment area of dental hospitals. With no previous literature of this kind, information on dental demographic, dental needs, dental providers and the distance from the closest dental institution is necessary to plan for effective delivery of public oral health services. Objectives: To assess the geographical distribution of patients attending the institution to define the catchment zones and to investigate the changes in the pattern of geographic distribution of patients Methodology: New patients visiting SDM College of Dental Sciences and Hospital in the randomly selected months of March and September in the calendar year 2012, 2013 and 2014 meeting the inclusion criteria were included in the sample. Demographic details along with their location of residence were recorded..............

Abstract: As per as facial attractiveness is concerned facial symmetry has a prime importance. Nasal osteotomy also known as rhinoplasty is an aesthetic procedure a surgeon can perform to enhance patient's appearance and give them a new acceptable and aesthetic look. This procedure can be done in the patients have facial asymmetry or patients who are willing to have a new look are the indications due to various reasons such as traumatic injuries, genetic abnormalities etc. Crooked nose has always been a surgical challenge for surgeons. It is of cardinal importance to achieve both functional and esthetic improvements. Deformities of the deviated nose can differ from patient to patient..............

Abstract: Malaria has been among the most common infectious diseases in India. The causative microorganism belongs to the Plasmodiumfamily. The four common species that are encountered are Plasmodium falciparum, P. vivax, P. malariaeand P. ovale. Plasmodium falciparuminfection carries more risk of complications such as cerebral malaria, acute renal failure, liver damage, collapse etc. Plasmodium vivaxis considered to be benign but spleniccomplications are more common with P. vivaxinfections2. Spontaneous rupture of malarial spleen is uncommon even in the endemic regions of malaria. This may lead to delayed or missed diagnosis of splenicrupture which may be life threatening3. Very few case reports are available in literature documenting spontaneous rupture of malarial spleen3. We are reporting one such instance of malarial splenicrupture encountered in our department.

Abstract: It has been well documented that anterior ridge defects present in a patient are challenging to treat (especially aesthetically). To treat such defects when edentulous anterior portion of maxillary ridge has both inadequate height and width, the conventional options of fixed partial dentures or implant supported fixed partial dentures are not enough. In cases where replacement of teeth along with the supporting structures is necessary for aesthetics Andrew's Bridge"is an option. The Andrew's bridge tends to be the best treatment plan for cleft palate patients with congenital or acquired ridge defect. This is designed to meet the requirements for esthetics, comfort, phonetics, oral hygiene and stress distribution to abutments and soft tissues.

Abstract: Osteomyelitis of the jaws was once a common and dreadful disease because of its long course and associated agony to the patient, but with advent of dental care and use of antibiotics along with improved nutrition and health education, , incidence of osteomyelitis of facial bones has decreased. Osteomyelitis of maxilla is less prevalent as compared to mandible as a result of abundant blood supply & porous bone structure of maxilla leaving it less vulnerable to chronic infection. The uncontrolled diabetes, a polygenic disorder, is a quick growing epidemic in India.............

Abstract: Objective: To compare the efficacy of coblation and conventional tonsillectomy in the same patient. To compare morbidity and complications associated with these procedures by each method in the same patient. Materials and Methods: 50 patients aged 3 to 30 years with chronic tonsillitis who underwent tonsillectomy surgery from march 2016 to march 2017 in Coimbatore medical College and Government hospital were be included in the study, after obtaining the ethical committee clearance.. Chronic tonsillitis patients with adenoid hypertrophy and serous otitis media were excluded by diagnostic nasal endoscopy, imaging and impedence audiogram. Chronic tonsillitis patients identified as candidates for tonsillectomy were selected randomly and one tonsil was removed using coblation and the other by conventional dissection method...............

Abstract: Purpose: To compare the efficacy and safety of combination of Tamsulosin and Solifenacin with Tamsulosin alone in improving the lower urinary tract symptoms of patients with indwelling double-J ureteral stents (DJS). Materials and Methods: A total of 70 patients with DJS were randomly divided into 2 groups. In group I (𝑛 = 35), all patients received combination of both tamsulosin 0.4 mg and solifenacin 10 mg daily and in group II (𝑛 = 35) all patients received tamsulosin 0.4 mg daily. All patients completed the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), quality of life component of the IPSS (IPSS/Qol) and Visual Analogue Pain Scale (VAPS) questionnaire, before insertion, at 3rd day of stenting and at 2 weeks after stenting. Urine for Routine and microscopic examination and culture and sensitivity were sent on 3rd postoperative day or before the discharge of patient and sexual discomfort was assessed after 2 weeks of stent insertion...............
