Abstract: Chronic sialadenitis is commonly associated with an acute chronic inflammation and obstruction of the excretory duct. The differentiation between chronic sialadenitis andobstruction of the excretory duct is difficult. The main causes of obstructive disordersare stones in about 60% to 70%, stenosis in about 15% to 25%, inflammation of theduct (sialodochitis) in about 5% to 10%, and other obstructions, such as anatomic variations or foreign bodies, in about 1% to 3%. We report the case of a 56-year-old man who had 3 large submandibular duct sialoliths. We describe the management of this patient and review the literature with emphasis on the various treatment modalities available.

Abstract: Pre-examination stress is common among the students and is quite predominant among medical students. Among them, the 1st year medical students face a major stress especially during the first M.B.B.S examination. Our study aims at investigating the effect of pre-examination stress on blood pressure and pulse rate of 1st MBBS students to find out how much the students cope up with the stress which in the long run can affect their lifestyle, habits and risk of developing hypertension and other related co-morbidities. Ninety one 1st year students of Jorhat Medical College participated in the study. The arterial blood pressure (indirect method) and pulse rate were measured three months prior to examination and again one week before examination. Statistical analysis was done using QUICKCALs software version 2.0. Student's t- test was used to compare the data and p value < 0.05 was considered significant. Out of the 49 participant male students, the Mean Pulse Rate increased from 78.21±7.85 to....

Abstract: Disinfection of root canal plays a major role on long term success of endodontic treatment .Reduction of endodontic microbiota has been achieved by series of antimicrobial stratigies that include preparation ,irrigation, intracanal medicaments and root canal filling materials.it was suggested that when antibiotics were applied locally into infected root canals instead of systematic administration ,it wouldreduce the risk of adverse sysytemic effects. Due to polymicrobial nature of infected root canal multiple antibiotic formulation might be recquiredRecently triple antibiotic paste containing ciprofloxacin, metronidazole and minocycline has been introduced for lesion sterilization and repair.Hence,The study concluded that triple antibiotic paste has the greatest effectivenessagainst E. faecalis to completely eradicate bacteria..

Abstract: Fractures of the proximal humerus are complex injuries with significant morbidity .Although various options of management available including non- operative management are present the choice of treatment depends upon the pattern of the fracture, the quality of the bone encountered, the patient's goals and the surgeon's familiarity with the techniques. The aim of this study was to review the functional, radiographic results and complications of the operative procedure in a series of twenty patients. Over a two year period we treated twenty patients with two part fractures, three part fractures, four part fractures and fracture dislocations. Initial pre operative clinical and radiological assessment was done and appropriate mode of treatment of given depending upon type of fracture according Neer's classification. Follow up of patient was done both clinically and radiologically at 2nd, 6th and 8th weeks and assessed for any complications. Final assessment......

Abstract: Cerebrovascular diseases are the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer in developed countries. Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a common devastating neurologic event that causes high morbidity and mortality with profound economic implication. ICH will seem to continue to be an important problem in both India and other developed countries. Nontraumatic ICH occurs due to bleeding from a vascular source directly into the brain substance. It is a major public health problem[1] with an annual incidence of 10–30/100,000 population,[1,2] accounting for 2 million (10–15%)[3] of about 15 million strokes worldwide each year.[4] Primary or Spontaneous intra-cerebral hemorrhage (ICH), which is defined as spontaneous rupture of the intra-cerebral small vessels following cerebral vessel wall degeneration due to frequent chronic hypertension or rarely to cerebral amyloid angiopathy........
