Abstract: Introduction: The treatment of immature teeth with regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs) has been described as a 'paradigm shift' as there is the potential for further root maturation .Regenerative endodontics has been defined as "biologically based procedures designed to replace damaged structures, including dentin and root structures, as well as cells of the pulp-dentin complex". Case report: This report describes an immature nonvital 11 with apical pathology which was treated via revascularization using 3% NaOCl and 17% ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid as irrigants; Ca (OH) 2 as intracanal medicament, Blood clot and platelet‑rich fibrin (PRF) as scaffold, On follow‑up at 6 and 12 months, healing of periapical lesion, dentinal thickening, and......

Abstract: Introduction: Alkaline caustics and acids are the most common chemicals implicated in caustic burns. Stricture formation with inability to swallow food after the injury is inevitable in some cases. As for the complications and ineffectiveness of the dilation in more severe strictures, colonic transposition serves as a better replacement for the esophagus. Aim: This study aims to study the adequacy of colonic transposition done for cases of corrosive esophageal strictures and to discuss the complications and their management and the outcome of therapeutic measures employed. Materials and Methods: A total of eight adults with corrosive esophageal strictures were studied at Government Mohan kumaramangalam medical......

Abstract: Paget disease (PD) of bone is a chronic progressive disease of unknown etiology which is characterized initially by an increase in bone resorption, followed by a disorganized and excessive bone formation, causing pain, fracture and deformities. The disease is often asymptomatic and commonly seen in older individuals. The diagnosis of the disease is mostly based on radiographic examination and biochemical markers of bone turnover. Elevated serum alkaline phosphatase is a constant feature while calcium and phosphate levels are typically within normal limits. PD is being successfully treated by bisphosphonate, a group of anti- resorptive drugs, thereby decreasing the morbidity and mortality associated with the disease. We report a case of an eighty year old female patient who presented with complaints of swelling and pain in the jaw. Panoramic radiography accompanied by laboratory findings confirmed the diagnosis which was crucial for choosing the appropriate treatment.

Abstract: Hip dislocation is a high energy trauma .(1) Hip is stabilized by bony anatomy and arrangement of anatomical structure around it (capsule and labrum ) and acetabulum socket also play an important role in stability. Dislocation are classified according to involvement of femur and acetabulum as simple or complex. Anatomically hip dislocation is classified as posterior(90%) ,anterior and central .(2,3) Isolated avulsion injury of pelvis ring is uncommon in adults .(4)Tile classified the avulsion injury of the pelvic ring into A1 (stable ring /not involving the ring ) which in general managed conservatively . (5) But for dislocation of the hip with Tiles A1 type bony injury no specific guideline of management is present . We here reporting a case of anterior dislocation of the hip with anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS) managed surgically .....

Abstract: Background :Tuberculosis (TB) is a life-threatening disease causing million deaths every year and is one of the commonest causes of death in the young making it a global emergency. A large number of these patients present with acute abdomen and are diagnosed on exploratory laparotomy only. These laparotomies could be easily avoided had there been an efficient and reliable method to diagnose abdominal tuberculosis early. Materials and Methods: This prospective observational study included 50 people. In this study, patients suspected of tuberculosis were subjected to ESR, Mantoux test, Ultrasound, CECT – Abdomen and Diagnostic laparoscopy. The study observed......

Abstract: Introduction: The pandemic of Covid-19 infection has affected all primary health services including subspecialty services in healthcare facilities across Malaysia. The cardiology service worldwide especially the primary percutaneous coronary angioplasty for ST- elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) was also affected due to the current pandemic. In this study, we would like to examine the effect of the covid-19 pandemic to a leading cardiology service of a tertiary centre in Malaysia. Methods: The study evaluated retrospective data from the Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory (ICL), National Cardiovascular Database (NCVD) Registry, and medical records of University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). We used quantitative methods......

Abstract: Background: Oral mucoceles are common cystic lesions of minor salivary glands. Mucocele occurrence in the ventral surface of tongue is extremely rare. Case Report: A 6 years old girl was diagnosed with Blandin-Nuhn mucocele in the ventral surface of the tongue, causing discomfort during speech and eating. The swelling was removed previously by surgical excision under GA, the biopsy revealed mucocele, and the lesion recurred after only 2 months. The decision was made to remove the mucocele with laser under local anesthesia. We used Diode Laser 980 nm wavelength, fiber tip diameter 300 μm, power 3.5 Watt, continuous-wave mode, and contact mode. The procedure was completed in 7 minutes; the patient was followed up after 1 week, 2 weeks, and after 12 months. Results: The procedure took only 7 minutes, and the patient did not feel pain. Complete healing occurred after 2 weeks and there is no recurrence......

Abstract: Background: Mast cells are considered to be multifunctional cells of immunity presenting themselves in several health and disease states. It is increasingly evident that maturation, function, and phenotype of mast cells are a direct result of the local microenvironment. Degranulated mast cells that are in active form help in knowing the chronicity of lesion and thus aiding in the treatment planning for better diagnosis. The anti-mast cell therapy may offer an adjunct to the existing treatment modalities in the coming years. Modified Ferroin Technique, stain only the degranulated mast cells aiding in detection of chronicity of the lesion. Objective: To stain......

Abstract: Background: Post operative Nausea Vomiting(PONV) is one of the feared and incapacitating side effect of surgery that is associated with significant morbidity that leads to delayed recovery and prolonged hospital stay. Nitrous Oxide(N2O) widely used as an anaesthetic carrier gas. It has analgesic and sedative properties but it potentiates the incidence of PONV .Where as Medical Air (MA) is an inert, environment friendly and can safely be used as an alternate vehicle for anaesthesia. Methods : 60 female patients of ASA 1 &11 posted for Breast Surgery between March-September were randomly allocated in to two groups......

Abstract: Background: All imaging techniques utilizing ionizing radiation, such as X-ray modalities used for diagnosis and therapy, require high awareness of all radiation protection principles. High-level knowledge of ionizing radiation exposure risks among medical staff is essential for planning diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Materials and Methods: This study consisted of a questionnaire survey. The study included a total of 90 individuals from professional groups: Radiologists and technologists. The study was carried out in the following hospitals: Al-jalla, Al-hawarie, Benghazi medical centre (BMC), Ibn Sina, and Dar Al-Shifa. Data were collected in the period between December 2020 to February 2021. Results: The results indicate that most medical staff, especially radio-technologists, are not adequately aware of the risks involved with the ionizing......
