Abstract: The prime function of lymph node is to deal with antigen. Lymph nodes respond to antigen by enlargement in size, shape, number and consistency. Cervical lymphadenopathy is one of the commonest presentations of underlying pathology of the head and neck region which has large number of differential diagnosis like neoplasms, infections, immune deficiency disorders and also in rare disorders.Fine needle aspiration cytology is a cheap and accurate first line investigation in lymphadenopathy.Objectives:1.To study the various clinical presentations of inflammatory cervical lymphadenopathy, 2.To co-relate FNAC findings with clinical diagnosis. Abstract: Vitiligo is an acquired depigmentation disorder of autoimmune origin. In the present study, we compared therapeutic efficacy of (Oral PUVASOL i.e. Psoralens + Solar Ultraviolet A) + Topical Fluticasone and (Oral PUVASOL + Topical Fluticasone + oral mini pulse methylprednisolone). 60 clinically diagnosed cases of Vitiligo were enrolled in the study. The patients were divided into two equal groups of 30 patients each. Group A patients were given oral PUVASOL and topical steroids for local application and Group B all the medications were same with additional use of oral methylprednisolone. Mean age of patients in group A was 26.60± 10.862 & Group B was 28.13 ± 12.437. The patients in the group B (Oral PUVASOL + Oral Steroid + Topical Fluticasone) showed early repigmentation at the end of 1 month. 19 patients showed mild response & 4 patients showed moderate pigmentation......

Abstract: Background: Gastrointestinal endoscopy (GIE) is an important tool for diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal and colonic disease. In Nigeria, the practice of GIE used to be the sole prerogative of the public tertiary hospitals, but this is no longer the case, as GIE is increasingly practiced nowadays in private clinic/hospital setups. Aim/Objective: This study aimed to review the practice of GIE in a newly established private endoscopy centre in Makurdi, North-Central Nigeria. Methods: Patients presenting for esophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD) and colonoscopy in the initial 12 months period were studied after preparation and obtaining of informed consent. A total of 175 cases were performed including 110 OGD's and 65 colonoscopies..............

Abstract: Although congenital lobar emphysema (CLE) is a rare lung disease, it can cause severe respiratory distress innewbornsdue to compression atelectasis. It is most often associated with mediastinal shift and subsequent hypoxia. Its incidence is 1/20,000-30,000 live births with a male-to-female ratio of 3:1. The prenatal incidence is unknown due to diagnostic difficulties with prenatal ultrasonography (USG). We have reported a case of 17 days old male neonate posted for left lower lung lobectomy, who was presented with the sudden onset of respiratory distress related to CLE affecting the left lower lung lobe, the rarest form of CLE.

Abstract: Background Surgical site infection (SSI) occurs in about 25 to 26% of patients after elective laparotomy. SSI is a significant cause of morbidity, increased length of hospital stay, increased cost of treatment and in some cases even mortality. Reduction of SSI will reduce the above complications. The use of antiseptic incise drapes in the prevention of SSI in resource-poor countries such as Nigeria is relatively limited. This study aims to evaluate the use of antiseptic drapes in the prevention of SSI compared to the routine method of skin preparation.........

Abstract: Background: Prostate Cancer (PCa) a cancer of global health concern needs to be differentially diagnosed from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Prostate specific antigen (PSA), the most widely used biomarker for PCa is unsatisfactory. This research is aimed at improving the differential diagnosis of PCa from BPH by comparing serum lipid profile, testosterone, and prostate-specific antigen levels between PCa and BPH patients. Materials and Methods: The study enrolled 40 cases of histologicaly diagnosed prostate cancer (PCa), 40 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH),........

Abstract: The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommend screening for preeclampsia (PE) based on maternal risk factors. According to the NICE recommendation, any of the following high-risk factors (hypertension in previous pregnancy, chronic hypertension, chronic kidney disease, diabetes mellitus or autoimmune disease), or more than one moderate risk factor (nulliparity, age ≥40 years, BMI ≥35 kg/m2, family history of preeclampsia or interpregnancy intervals of more than 10 years) is considered a high risk of preeclampsia.
