Abstract: Introduction: Attraction towards a beautiful face is one of the basic characteristics of human beings. Aesthetic varies according to race, nation, individuals.Balance and harmony of various dentofacial components have been regarded as key of aesthetic.Photography is the real image of human face. So, this study aims to establish the norms of photographic parameters of Punjabi female population and compare it with other races. Material and method:The study is based on Photographic analysis female population who stay in West Bengal. So subjects were selected between age group of 18-25 years.Samples fulfill bilateral angle class-1 molar relation with normal overjet and overbite with full complement of teeth.More or less bilateral symmetrical face and straight profile with no history of previous orthodontic treatment. Standardized frontal and profile photographs were taken in NHP.In frontal view inter pupillary line was kept parallel to the floor.Same.....

Abstract:This case report describes extraction of root pieces of maxillary left first and second molars, followed by placement of immediate implants in the prepared sockets, sticky bone and PRF membrane placement for bone regeneration and final prosthetic restoration over the implants after 6 months. Materials and methods: The root pieces were extracted with minimal trauma to adjacent hard and soft tissue architecture. The sockets were prepared according to the requires dimensions and the implants were inserted. Sticky bone PRF membrane were placed to gain osseous regeneration.6 months post-operative, an impression was made and a definitive restoration was placed. Results: The conducted treatment resulted in formation of bone around the implants as well as preservation of the existing hard and soft tissues. The patient reported no clinical or radiological complications throughout the course of the treatment.....

Abstract: Objectives : To study three varied designs of bonded lingual retainers following fixed appliance therapy for their effect on the periodontal status of mandibular anterior teeth over a period of 1 year.
Materials and Methods : A parallel group randomized clinical trial was done. Those patients who have recently completed fixed appliance therapy and in whom bonded retainers are indicated were selected for this study. Thirty patients conforming to inclusion criteria were selected and allocated randomly to three groups, Group 1-Braided wire retainer, Group -2 canine & canine retainer and Group 3-Mesh retainer. Plaque, gingival & calculus indices were evaluated at 1 week(T0), 3 months(T1), 6 months(T2) and 12 months(T3). Friedman and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for intragroup comparisons and intergroup comparisons, respectively.
Results : Data collected by.......

Abstract: Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is the most common type of motor neuron disease (MND) where both upper motor neuron (UMN) and lower motor neuron (LMN) are affected. It is a neurodegenerative disease which is relentlessly progressive and presently incurable. Motor unit number estimation (MUNE) can be a valuable tool for assessing ALS. MUNE is an electrophysiological technique that estimates the number of functioning motor units in a given muscle or group of muscles. MUNE is an electrophysiological measurement which is simple and can be done in basic electrophysiology setting. It can be used as a diagnostic as well as prognostic marker of ALS so that patient can undergo.....

Abstract: Introduction: Iron deficiency anaemia is one of the most important causes of nutritional anaemia and is the most common micronutrient deficiency worldwide especially in developing countries. Anaemia affects nearly half of all pregnant women in the world 52% in developing countries compared with 23% in developed countries. Pregnant women are vulnerable to iron deficiency because of the increased metabolic demands imposed by pregnancy involving a growing placenta, fetus, and maternal issues, coupled with dietary risks. Aims and Objectives: To study the correlation between maternal serum iron and ferritin levels with cord blood iron and ferritin levels. Materials and Methods: This was a Prospective observational study conducted at Janardani hospital, a tertiary care centre in Guntur.....

Abstract: Background: Dental phobia refers to extreme fear of dentists or dental procedures. Studies have shown that dental phobia is a condition whereby an individual visits a dental clinic only when it is impossible to avoid. There is little information available in Sudan about the impact of dental fear on oral health care seeking behaviours. Aim of this study was to examine the relationship between dental phobia and gender, and to determine the primary reason why dental phobic patients visit clinics. Materials and Methods: Self-administered questionnaire was completed by patients at an academic dental hospital. The study design was observational cross-sectional.. Results: Females have a higher level of dental phobia than their....

Abstract: Background: It is crucial to measure the surgical outcome and complications in order to assess the success rate of cleft management. This study evaluated the surgical outcome. Cleft lip and palate surgery can cause complications. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional evaluations were done at least one week after surgery on 103 consecutive patients who had cleft palate and lip surgeries in February 2017 and April 2017. The data collected included information on the patient's age, gender, type of cleft defect, surgery performed, as well as any complications that may have occurred afterward. The Pennsylvania lip and nasal (PLAN) score was used for cleft lip surgery. For cleft palate repair, the integrity of the closure was used.....

Abstract: Background: Pterygium is one of the most frequent eye surface abnormalities. Immune mechanisms, genetic predisposition, and chronic environmental irritation, such as UV (ultraviolet) rays, hot and dry weather, wind, dusty atmosphere, and the duration of exposure to such conditions, are all established risk factors. The current study was designed to evaluate the effect of pterygium excision on pterygium-induced refractive alterations and to compare the mean corneal curvature before and after pterygium excision. Material and methods: This was a hospital based prospective.....

Abstract: Background: This clinical work was performed to present a less common anatomical configuration with anomalous curvature of mandibular second molar with four canals. Materials and Methods: Endodontic treatment of a carious symptomatic mandibular second molar tooth with irreversible pulpitis was performed by confirming anatomical configuration with a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) image analysis. Results: By performing cone beam analysis of mandibular second molar tooth described here, showed the presence of two mature normal length roots with double curvature and four root canals. Conclusion: A configuration with four root canals and double curvature in mandibular second molar tooth is a less common finding which possesses challenge....

Abstract: Peripheral cannulation associated superficial venous thrombophlebitis(SVT)and subcutaneous oedema is a very common clinical occurrence in hospital settings with reported prevalence as much as 80%. Incidence risk may vary as per bore size of cannula, age, site of cannulation, transfusion of blood products and IV drug administration. Topical heparanoid ointment, magnesium sulphate dressing and mupirocin ointment has been utilized in isolation or in varying combination so far. But application of all the three agents for management of peripheral cannulation associated SVT has not been reported in the literature. Herein we present our observational study conducted in Medical.....

Abstract: Liver disease can be acute (lasting less than 6 months) or chronic (lasting more than 6 months). Acute diseases are dominated by hepatitis of viral origin (A and B), hepatitis caused by taking medications such as paracetamol, intoxication or other reasons. Most of the time they are benign, but some of them can cause serious consequences.. Chronic liver diseases are mainly of viral.....
