Abstract: Variation in size of the teeth can be either in the form of microdontia or macrodontia. Microdontia literally means small teeth. This condition is present in three forms involving single tooth, multiple teeth in large jaws and True Generalized Microdontia (TGM), in which all the teeth are smaller than normal. Very rarely, microdontia may affect all teeth, but seen in cases of pituitary dwarfism. The talons cusp is a projection of tooth structure usually of the cingulum of the maxillary incisors and rarely seen in rest of the teeth. This article emphasis a rare case report of true generalized Microdontia with multiple talons cusp in a non syndromic patient.
Keywords: Microdontia, talons cusp, pituitary dwarfism, syndromes, eagles talon.

Abstract: Introduction: Acinetobacter species are Gram Negative coccobacilli causing various nosocomial infections. The spread of multidrug resistant Acinetobacter strains among hospitalized patients became an increasing cause of concern. Aims: 1. To isolate Acinetobacter species from pus samples received from various wards and ICU's 2. To study their antibiogram pattern...............

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr Abhinav Wankar || Dr P Satyanarayana |
Abstract: Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is a serious complication of mechanical ventilation which increases the patient's stay in the ICU and overall length of hospital stay and adds to overall costs.Our study aims to reduce Incidence of Ventilator Associated Pneumonia, with effective uses of limited resources and to identifying good management practices in AMCU and prove it statistically.In our study, 470 ventilated patients admitted in AMCU from January 2013 to December2013 were considered.......

Title | : | Reattachment of Anterior Tooth Fragment bya Conservative Approach- A Case Report |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Sayantan Mukherjee || Utpal Kumar Das || Sana Shaheen |
Abstract: Trauma to anterior tooth is relatively common among children and adolescents. One of the options for managing coronal tooth fractures when the tooth fragment is available and there is no or minimal violation of the biological width is the reattachment of the dental fragment. Reattachment of fractured tooth fragments can provide good and long-lasting aesthetics because the tooth's original anatomic form, color, and surface texture are maintained. It also restores function and provides a positive psychological response. Patient cooperation and understanding of the limitations of thetreatment is of utmost importance for good prognosis. This article reports on coronal tooth fracture case that was successfully treated using tooth fragment reattachment.

Title | : | Dental Ceramics- Past, Present and Future – Literature Review |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr Karishma Shah || Dr Abhilasha Bal |
Abstract: The word Ceramic originated from the Greek term keramos meaning "potter or pottery". Restorative dentistry can be traced back to early Egyptian times. Dentistry existed in Etruria but remained relatively undeveloped until the 18th century. At that time dental prosthesis were made from human teeth, animal teeth carved to human size and shape and porcelain (Kelly, Nishimura et al. 1996). Human teeth were difficult to procure and when found were expensive....

Title | : | Comparitive Study of Fracture Neck Of Femur Treated With Cannulated Cancellous Screw Fixation And Hemiarthroplasty In Elderly |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr Aaron Reuben D |
Abstract: Intracapsular fracture neck of femur have always presented great challenges to orthopaedic surgeons and remain in many ways today the unsolved fracture as far as treatment and results are concerned Intracapsular fractures are devastating injuries that most often affect the elderly. Intracapsular fractures are very rare in young individuals with normal bone. The incidence of intracapsular fractures is increasing in the modern world due to high energy trauma associated with road traffic accidents.This study aims at retrospectively analysing the functional outcome of 2 widely accepted modalities of treatment in the age group 60-75 years,in Garden's type I and II fractures,namely

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr Shobhna Yadav || Dr Rajiv Ratan Singh Yadav |
Abstract: Objective: To describe the renal functions in perinatal asphyxia. Methods: This was cross-sectional comparative study. All the newborns admitted in NICU of the Institute with diagnosis of perinatal asphyxia and fulfilling inclusion criteria were included in the study. A total of 54 gestational neonates were studied. These subjects were divided into two groups according to their ARF status. Group I (n=24) had subjects with ARF while Group II (n=30) has subjects without ARF.

Title | : | Spigelian Hernia - A Case Report |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Anand Hanumaiah || AnnappaKudva |
Abstract: Spigelian hernia is a rare clinical entity, it is a hernia occurring through the Spigelian aponeurosis, while its difficult to clinically diagnose spigelian hernia, there are no standardized investigations for having a definitive diagnosis and further because of its rarity, there are no definitive treatment modalities. This manuscript outlines the clinical presentation and management of an elderly patient with spigelian hernia.

Abstract: Arcuate foramen is less known trait of the human atlas vertebra formed by a delicate bony spiculum, which arches backward from the posterior end of the superior articular process. The importance of the arcuate foramen lies in the external pressure it may cause on the vertebral artery as it passes from the foramen transversarium of the first cervical vertebra to the foramen magnum of the skull. Atlas is the first cervical vertebra with a groove for the vertebral artery on the posterior arch.....

Title | : | Fluorescence And Dentistry |
Country | : | Iraq |
Authors | : | Sarah K. Mualla |
Abstract: In natural dentitions, fluorescence is a function of organic components of the enamel and mostly the dentin part, while in dental restorative materials (composite, ceramic, acrylic); fluorescence is a function of the illuminants or fluorescent materials that mostly are rare earth elements like: europium, cerium and ytterbium oxides, these fluorescent additives incorporated in the composite materials to increase the esthetic qualities of dental restorations. As a result, the dental materials used by the dentist had to fluoresce at different light sources (daylight or fluorescent lamp light) in a manner similar to that of natural dentitions otherwise dental restorations will appear dull, non-vital and easy to point out from the natural teeth structure.

Title | : | Bacterial Study of Primary Pyoderma in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Eastern India |

Authors | : | Dr Deep Anurag || Dr Jayanta Kumar Barua || Dr Indrani Bhattacharyya || Dr Sarmistha Ghosh || Dr Gautam Banerjee |
Abstract: Pyodermas constitute a major portion of the cases in dermatology opd. Indiscriminate use of topical and systemic antibiotics has perhaps led to poor or no response to the antibiotics that were previously effective.[1-4]This emergence of antibiotic resistance poses a serious threat to public health. Detailed knowledge of causative organisms and their sensitivity patterns is very much the need of the hour for successful treatment of pyodermas. In an attempt to highlight the current scenario of antibiotic resistance and changed antibiotic sensitivity, the present study was undertaken to find out the causative organisms and their antibiotic susceptibility patterns in different cases of primary pyodermas attending the dermatology opd in a tertiary care hospital.
