Title | : | Ultrasonographic Study of Ascites with Clinicopathological Correlation |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Rathin Kumar Ghoshal Md || Dr. Kedarnath Pal Md |
Abstract: Ascites‟ means collection of excessive free fluid in the peritoneal cavity. Ascites is a manifestation of various number of diseases and the aetiopathogenesis of ascites is varied. Clinically ascites can be recognized when the amount of fluid exceeds 1500 ml. Ultrasound can detect as little as 100 mililitres in the common sites i.e. hepatorenal recess and pelvic cul-de-sac (normal fluid amount =50ml). Ultrasound performs better than CT in localizing asceitic fluid in relation to peritoneal spaces becauses it allows instant visualization in different planes. Ultrasound is also less hazardous in relation to CT. it involves minial patient‟s preparation and additionally is the least expensive of available imaging tests It can also be performed in very sick non ambulatory patients at beside.

Abstract: The Patent Ductus Arteriosus ( PDA ) is one of the commonest acynotic congenital heart disease. Most of these can be managed by device closure. But very large , long or very short PDA are prone for failure. Simple ligation of PDA has been shown to have high recurrence rate. We in our institute categorized PDA depending on the size of PDA at the pulmonary end .Accordingly ,the operative procedure was determined either direct ligation or by modified division and suturing tehnique. Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Soumithran C.S || Dr. Arul Dev D.P || Dr. Manu Mathew || Dr. Manjusha P || Dr. Nimmi M |
Abstract: Dentigerous cysts are developmental odontogenic cysts and are always associated with an unerupted or developing tooth bud. Mesiodens is a supernumerary tooth found in the anterior maxilla. Supernumerary teeth seldom associate with dentigerous cysts and dentigerous cysts around supernumerary teeth account for 5% of all dentigerous cysts. Here we report a case of dentigerous cyst in association with a mesiodens in an 8 year old boy. The cyst was treated by enucleation with minimal tissue trauma and nerve preservation.

Authors | : | Alka Rashmi Nag || Shilpa Singh || Renu Prasad |
Abstract: Introduction: Supracondylar spur is a bony projection about 2-20 mm in length, occasionally projects from the anteromedial surface of the shaft of humerus about 5 cm proximal to the medial epicondyle. It represents an embryonic vestigial remnant in climbing animals and felines. It may be joined to the medial epicondyle by a fibrous band called ligament of struthers, which may ossify. It is usually asymptomatic but can present with the symptoms like median nerve and brachial artery compression when associated with struthers ligament............

Authors | : | Agraja Patil || Swapna Mahale || Chaitanya Joshi || Prutha Vaidya |
Abstract: Periodontitis is a multi-factorial disease which has affected mankind since the dawn of an era. Prevalence of periodontal disease has considerably increased over a period of time. Periodontal research has progressed tremendously worldwide. In India in spite of increased periodontal research, many problems are faced by the clinicians. It leads to improper recording of the results and resultant failure to spread the knowledge that would help in understanding the subject better. This is a major setback in the current era of evidenced based clinical practice. Hence in this review, an attempt is made to discuss and emphasize these unsolved issues pertaining to epidemiology, disease activity and therapy.
