Abstract: It is a well recognized fact that back pain in a disc disease is due to chemical inflammation in addition to compression of neural elements[1].Surgery aims at decompressing the pressure on neural elements and conservative treatment aims to combat the chemical radiculitis. Since the advent of epidural analgesia by Corning in 1885 epidural medications have been used in the treatment of this condition for over 100 years. However, controversy still persists regarding their effectiveness in reducing the pain and improving function. This study aims at analyzing the effectiveness of epidural steroid in a diagnosed and confirmed case of lumbar disc herniation.

Abstract: 'Salivary proteins have an important influence in tooth enamel remineralize associated with calcium hydroxyapatite. Statherin is the most powerful protein that binds calcium hydroxyapatite in saliva than other calcium-binding protein. Infection in gingiva and periodontal caused alteration of statherin and calcium levels. Therefore, researchers wanted to determine and to compare salivary statherin and calcium levels in gingivitis and periodontitic mainly on the Indonesian as an initial data to explore the influence of statherin and calcium in patients with gingivitis and periodontitic. By spitting method, 54 samples of whole saliva taken from gingivitis and periodontitic patients ; aged 20-50 years,...............

Abstract: Background: Adolescence is a time of rapid physical growth and second only to the first year after birth during which children gain upto 50 %of adult weight and more than 20% of adult height. Somatic growth can be altered by providing optimal nutrition, modifying eating patterns and behaviour. Further it can be a second opportunity to catch up growth with requirements of nutrients being high. The overall nutrition status is very poor among adolescent girls of poor rural groups. So short stature is common. Maternal stunting is a factor of increased risk and it can be attributed to chronic malnutrition. Nutritional intervention during this period can help the adolescent girl to achieve the targeted height to some extent................

Abstract: Background: Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is the first choice for evaluation of thyroid enlargement. Diagnosis is based on the identification of predominant cell pattern, cell morphology and background details. Fine needle non-aspiration cytology (FNNAC) avoids aspiration, uses capillary action of the fine needle. It is more patient friendly with less pain and better perception of lesion. Aim of the study: To evaluate the results ofFine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) and Fine Needle Non Aspiration Cytology (FNNAC) in diagnosis of thyroid lesions..............

Abstract: Previous reports showed that tuberculosis is associated with increase free radical load and oxidative stress thereby worsening the disease state. An understanding of the antioxidant defense system may be helpful in management and care of the disease. Albumin, Uric acid, catalase activity and total antioxidant status (TAS) were determined in blood samples ofthirty five (35) pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) patients (28 TB and 7 TB+HIV) on drug treatment and thirty (30) apparently healthy controls (Ziehl Neelsen test negative) by standard spectrophotometric methods...............

Abstract: Background: Arm lymphatics draining through the axilla are frequently disrupted during surgery for carcinoma breast leading to lymphedema. Techniques for differential identification of arm lymphatics might enable their preservation, and probable reduction in lymphedema. Aims: To evaluate the efficacy and oncological safety of reverse axillary mapping (RAM) in patients with early stage breast carcinoma and to correlate with post operative pathological nodal status..............

Abstract: Organophosphorus insecticides are arguably one of the commonest causes of morbidity and mortality due to poisoning worldwide, especially in developing countries like India due to its easy availability. Though Serum cholinesterase can be a useful tool in the diagnosis of OP poisoning, its role in prognostication is very minimal. The aim of the study is to measure serum electrolytes, liver enzymes, amylase, CPK, CPK-MB, and...............

Abstract: Copy number changes, also called chromosome gains or losses in the DNA content, have drawn recent attention in advancement of cancer research. Array CGH (Comparative Genomic Hybridization) is a molecular-cytogenetic method for genomewide screening for such loss and gain regions referring to genetic alterations. In this article, we present a simple but very effective method to uncover the locations of copy number changes through the use of modified maximal overlap discrete wavelet transform (MODWT) devised with some threshold approach. Implementations to simulated data having autocorrelation structure as well as to real CGH array confirm the excellent performance of this procedure.
