Abstract: Zimmermann-Laband syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant inherited disease characterized by extensive gingival enlargement and abnormalities of the head, face, hands, feet, nose, and ears. Hypoplastic or absent nails, mild hirsuitism, hepato-splenomegaly and mental retardation are seen in some cases. The present paper describes a female patient, aged eight years, with typical features of Zimmermann-Laband syndrome and its dental management..

Abstract: As a part of the on-going research work and in continuation of an existing programme pertaining to the copro-parasitological survey work on the prevalence and epidemiology of enteric parasitosis associated with HIV/AIDS patients, field visits were made in a hilly district (rural) of Manipur (India), i.e. Noney district, during the period of March to June 2018, with a view to assess the occurrence/prevalence of opportunist and other parasites in these immuno-compromised group of patients. Of the 35 patients screened for the presence of enteric parasitosis, 15 (42.85%) patients were found positive for various intestinal parasites like Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, hookworm and commensals like Entamoeba coli, Endolimax nana and Iodoamoeba butschli respectively. In this..........

Abstract: Nanomedicine is the utilization of knowledge and tools of nanotechnology in the field of medicine. Theranostics is one of the new emerging fields in the branch of nanomedicine. Theranostics combines therapy and diagnostics. Theranostics focuses on the integration of information from a diverse set of biomarkers to create pharmaceutical formulations for a targeted subpopulation where the drug can display greater therapeutic efficacy and less toxicity. Nanoparticles are available in various forms which include Quantum dots, dendrimers, gold nanoparticles, liposomes, magnetic nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes. The unique size dependent electronic, optical, thermal, mechanical properties of nanomaterials are the properties that make them to use in the field of medicines. The high surface area: volume ratio renders nanoparticle with the ability to function with the surface moieties........

Abstract: Background: Births by elective cesarean section (CS) have risen over the last decade worldwide, particularly before 39 weeks' gestation in mothers with previous cesarean deliveries, which may be associated with unacceptably high risk of adverse neonatal outcomes. So the optimal timing of these deliveries needs to be determined with recent recommendations to delay births by elective CS until 39 weeks. Aims: To evaluate the association between the gestational age (GA) at birth and neonatal outcomes after elective repeat CS between 37 and 40 completed weeks, so that timing of elective repeat cesarean section can be mapped out without compromising neonatal.........

Abstract: Ophthalmic lesions include a wide spectrum of conditions ranging from benign lesions and malignant lesions. The diagnosis of these lesions is based on the clinical as well as histopathological features. This was a retrospective study of ophthalmic lesions conducted in the Department of Pathology, Rangaraya Medical College, a teaching hospital over a period of 3 years (January 2015 to December 2017). In this study period we received total 53 ophthalmic biopsies. Out of these 14 (26.41%) cases were benign lesions, 13 (24.52%) malignant lesions, 4(7.54%) cases were dysplasia, 3 (5.66%) cases were infectious lesions, 8(15.09%)cases were dacryocystitis, 11 (20.75%) cases were miscellaneous. Among all the cases, squamous cell carcinoma is the most common clinical and histopathological entity in our study..

Abstract: Warthin's tumour is benign tumour, more commonly affecting the salivary glands and overwhelmingly found in parotid gland. It shows male predilection inspite of the fact that recent reports confirmed the reduction in difference of gender. It may occur unilaterally or bilaterally , it presents as a painless swelling over parotid region but sometimes patient may complain of pain in ear , tinnitus or deafness. We reported a case of 65 year old chronic smoker male with Warthin's tumour on right side over parotid region . The tumour was excised under general anaesthesia following all the aseptic conditions, patient was observed for one year. On follow –up he did not experienced any sympyoms and no signs of recurrence were noticed.

Abstract: Dental health insurance is taken very seriously in the western world. However, in India, it is still in its nascent stage with very few insurance companies providing the service. Dental insurance in India is mostly clubbed with health insurance and available under the general health insurance plans. Even with the available options, generally the costs arising due to a dental emergency/ accidents are covered, whereas routine dental ailments are usually left out. There exists a surging need for Government and private organizations to formulate extensive plans towards providing easy and affordable dental insurance schemes. Prevention and timely interception is the only possible way to limit progression of dental disease and escalated treatment costs. We will look into the current status, shortcomings and scope of dental insurance in India..

Abstract: Osteopetrosis refers to a group of rare, inherited skeletal disorders characterized by increased bone density due to a defect in remodeling caused by the failure of normal osteoclast function. Also known as marble bone disease, Albers-Schonberg Disease, OsteosclerosisFragilisGeneralisata1. The estimated prevalence of osteopetrosis is 1 in 100,000 to 500,000. Osteopetrosis is caused by mutations in at least 10 genes with inheritance of autosomal recessive(osteopetrosiscongenita) , autosomal dominant(osteopetrosistarda), or X-linked recessive and the most severe form being autosomal recessive which is characterized by carbonic anhydrase II deficiency, renal tubular acidosis and cerebral calcification.2 The adult form is milder than.......

Abstract: Traditional Chinese Medicine dates back more than 5,000 years ago and includes variety of therapies - acupuncture, cupping, massage, moxibustion, nutrition, herbal medicine, tai chi and chi gong. One of the basic principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is that the body's vital energy Qi circulates through the channels called meridians and have branches connected to the organs and functions in the body. A key element of TCM is the holism meaning that the human being is seen as a whole and a part of nature. Although there is some level of skepticism about TCM in today's society; plenty of studies continue every day to showamazing results andprove the many benefits of the therapies. The main purpose of TCM is to balance the Qi imbalances by expelling the external factors, balancing the internal emotions, removing the blockages from the meridians, freeing the flow of the.......
