Abstract: Background: MECHANISM: Fractures of the tibia plateau occur as a result of strong valgus or varus forces during axial loading of the respective femoral condyle producing both a shearing and a compressive force on the underlying tibial plateau. Both the collateral ligament act like a hinge as valgus or varus forces drive the lateral and medial femoral condyle into the tibial plateau. The articular surface of the medial condyle is prolonged anteriorly, and as the knee comes into fully extended position, the femur internally rotates until the remaining......

Abstract: Background: There are numerous adjunctive measures described to reduce the recurrence rates after pterygium excision. Sutureless glueless conjunctival autografting in pterygium surgery is gaining popularity due to short surgical time, no recurrence and good cosmetic outcome. The main objective to study the efficacy and complications of sutureless and glue free limbal conjunctival autograft for the management of primary pterygium. Materials and methods: A prospective interventional case series was carried out in 50 consecutive eyes with primary nasal pterygium requiring surgical excision. Pterygium excision with limbal conjunctival autografting without using glue or sutures was...

Abstract: Introduction: Mortality of children is the prime indicator of country's health status and its development. This study is therefore aimed at evaluating the mortality pattern in children in tertiary care hospital. Material and method: This retrospective study included all the children from 29 days to 12 years of age, who were hospitalized to the Paediatric Department. for a period of 18 months. Neonatal deaths (<28days) were excluded from this study since most of the time cause is multifactorial. Paediatric surgical and trauma cases, which were treated by the surgical department, were excluded.......

Abstract: Currently, we are experiencing an epidemic growth in the number of people with diabetes worldwide.1 An estimated 366 million people, corresponding to 8.3% of the world's adult population, have diabetes today, but the prevalence is expected to grow to 552 million by 2030, corresponding to 9.9% of the adult population.2 This increase goes hand in hand with ―westernization‖ of lifestyle, with consumption of more energy-dense food and decreasing physical activity.2 Driven by this development, diabetes affects more and more young people. These changes have driven a huge increase in T2DM —the most common form of diabetes, particularly in young people, especially in their.....

Abstract: Background: Tibial plateau fractures are complex intra articular fractures which pose a great challenge. The aim of this study compare the clinical and functional outcomes of type V and type VI tibial plateau fractures treated with bicondylar plating and lateral locking plate and to highlight their advantages and disadvantages. Materials and methods: Forty patients in the age group of 18yrs to 65 yrs with complex tibial plateau fractures (Schatzker typeV and VI) were operated between January 2019 to January 2020 either by a single lateral lock plate through an anterolateral incision or through double incision. The fractures were closed or grade I compoundwith no other injury...

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has affected around 50 million people all over the world with profound repercussions on the global healthcare system. Several studies have drawn attention to the potential risk of long term mental health problems in healthcare professionals combating the virus as frontline warriors. We undertook this cross-sectional study to observe the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare providers. An electronic questionnaire created using the web survey tool "Google Forms" was distributed among healthcare professionals through social media platforms. From 13th April 2020 to 23rd April 2020, 250 anonymous responses were obtained from healthcare professionals worldwide. On analysis using Google Forms, 84.8% professionals reported anxiety while......

Abstract: Background: Gynecological malignancies include the malignancy of uterine cervix, ovary and endometrium. These malignancies are associated with low Quality of life(QOL) due to its involvement of genito-urinary apparatus and the morbidity associated with the cancer therapy, like chemotherapy, radiotherapy and local surgeries. In this study we have assessed the quality of life in patients diagnosed with cancers of cervix, endometrium and ovary, and other factors that influence the quality of life in these patients using a structured pre validated questionnaire. Objectives: To access the quality of life in patients with gynecological malignancies and factors influencing the quality of life. Methods: In this study set in......

Abstract: Background: Stillbirth is the most prevalent adverse outcome in pregnancy and remains a challenge in our clinical practice. The aim of this study is to determine the causes of stillbirth in the last 11 years, in a tertiary hospital. Materials and Methods: Descriptive, retrospective study on fetal deaths that occurred between 2008 and 2018, in a tertiary hospital. Results: In the last 11 years, 84 stillbirths have occurred. The fetal mortality rate was 2.8 ‰. There was an absence of pregnancy surveillance in only 2% of cases and late surveillance in 11% of pregnant women monitored. 88% of the analyzed.......
