Abstract: Background: Health care workers and health care practices has been severely affected in COVID pandemic. The rate of infectivity and death rate in doctors and other health care workers is three times the general population. All the procedures involving aerosol generation, close contact, sample collection increases the susceptibility of health care force to COVID infection. They are also considered as potential source of infection by the general population. Material and method: Material relevant to the topic were collected from guidelines issued by ICMR, Recommendations & guidelines issued by ministry of health & family welfare India, Indian news daily & national health agencies.......

Abstract: The growth of normal fetus is controlled by a delicate balance of genetic, placental and maternal factors. Any perturbations in this delicate balance may result in growth restriction or accelerated growth. Among the intrauterine environmental factors, nutrition plays the most decisive role in influencing placental and fetal growth.1Intrauterine Growth Restriction is considered when the fetal growth rate is below normal with respect to the growth potential of a specific infant for the respective race and gender of the foetus. IUGR is when the fetal weight is less than10th percentile of the average weight for its gestational age.2 It affects about 3-10% of all gestations.3 It is associated with significant increase in morbidity and mortality in perinatal period and......

Abstract: Background: The pediatric dentist and orthodontist have many professional interests in common. A successful collaboration between Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry during the stages of primary and mixed dentition is important for making an early diagnosis of dental alterations and malocclusions, which allows less complex early treatment and a better prognosis. A pediatric dentist provides valuable assistance to the orthodontist by reducing the complexity of certain cases and by encouraging greater cooperation from the patient. The treatment provided by both specialties often has profound effects upon the function and esthetics of young patients. Individual patient care is at its best when a synergistic collaboration of the pediatric dentist and orthodontist is fully realized......

Abstract: Background: Various maternal factors are found to be associated with neonatal jaundice which is a normal benign phenomena that affects 60% of the term and 80% of the preterm babies. But role of these factors in its causation has not been proved completely. Hence this study was done to evaluate the relationship between maternal factors and exaggerated physiological jaundice. Materials and Methods: Retrospective study done on 50 newborns born in Department of Pediatrics VMMC Karaikal during the period of July to September 2019.Full term singleton babies born with no congenital anomalies and other complications irrespective of their birthweight were included. Babies with risk factors for pathological jaundice were excluded. Serum bilirubin analysis was done, data regarding maternal age, obstetric status, Hemoglobin level etc at delivery and gestational age were collected and statistically analysed using software SPSS16......
