Abstract: The present research study was aimed at investigating the effects of stem bark extract of Persea americana on some reproductive functions of male Wistar rats. In this study, male Wistar rats were randomly distributed into three (3) groups of 5 rats each. The control group (Group 1) received distilled water. Group 2 was administered 200mg/kg of the extract and group 3 was administered 400mg/kg of the extract daily for a period of 21 days after acclimatization. Blood sample was collected and some tissues harvested at sacrifice. The statistical analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test was used to compare groups followed by post-hoc testing to determine whether there were significant differences between the........

Abstract: Despite the fact that statins are currently the preferred medical treatment for the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease as well as the treatment of hyperlipidemia, many recent research evidences suggested that statin therapy can have adverse effects on patients' glycemic control as well as increased risk of NOD. The results of these studies, though, are somewhat inconsistent. This study aims to look into how statin exposure affects FBG levels and HbA1c levels, Furthermore, we want to draw attention to the elements that influence statins' ability to cause diabetes. This retrospective cohort study was carried out at the Benghazi National Heart Center (NHC) from March 2021 to December 2021. 200 patients......

Abstract: Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health problem, which is characterised by slow deterioration in kidney function leading to numerous haematological and biochemical dysfunction. Aim of the present study was to find out the common haematological dysfunctions that may occur in the patients of chronic renal failure (CRF). Methodology:This hospital based descriptive study was done over a period of 4 months (March 2021to June 2021) at Saveetha medical college and hospital on 90 CKD patients. The demographic data and clinical status of patients were accessed from hospital records and the haematological parameters were retrieved from the haematology laboratory......

Abstract: Background:Pre-medication is commonly used to reduce preoperative anxiety and to facilitate smooth transition into induction of anaesthesia. The following study was carried out to assess the effect of three different drugs: midazolam, dexmedetomidine and ketamine on the recovery profile after balanced anaesthesia. Materials and Methods: The study was a randomized, double-blinded clinical trial conducted on 99 patients of either sex in age group of 18 to 60 years with ASA I and II who underwent major surgeries of moderate duration (< 3 hours). There were 3 groups, Group M: received Midazolam 0.04 mg/kg iv 10 mins before induction of anaesthesia after dilution in 10 ml NS. Group D: received Dexmedetomidine 0.5 μg/kg diluted in 10 ml NS over 10 mins......

Abstract: India became a part of "greying nation‟ i.e. nation with more than 7% of population above 60 years in 2001.(1) Ageing is a natural process without an absolute beginning point at any given stage of life.(2) However for practical purposes, most nations consider the age of retirement as the cut-off to declare an individual as a senior citizen. Most often the presentation of diseases in elderly are atypical as the "weaker‟ organs are vulnerable and differ from the newly affected organ, thus altering the clinical presentation of the common disease. Musculoskeletal system and lower urinary tract are most commonly the "weaker‟ organs in addition to the brain. Therefore, it‟s not uncommon to see an elderly suffering from pneumonia presenting with confusion and urinary incontinence rather........

Abstract: Jaundice is the yellowish discoloration of skin and sclera due to elevated serum concentration of bilirubin. Most adults are jaundiced when total serum bilirubin level exceeds 2 mg/dl. Neonates however not appear jaundiced until the total serum bilirubin concentration exceeds 5 to 7 mg/dl.1 Neonatal jaundice occurs in nearly 60% of term and 80% of preterm infants during the first week of life.2 Although jaundice is present in most newborns and is usually physiological, it is imperative to carefully monitor newborns to identify those at risk of developing bilirubin induced neurologic dysfunction. Acute bilirubin encephalopathy is caused by the toxic effects of unconjugated bilirubin on the CNS. Symptoms include poor feeding, lethargy and high pitched cry in....

Abstract: Background: There is not much published literature on neonatal septicemia available for the North India Hence, we undertook this study to find out the bacteriological profile and antibiotic sensitivity pattern of neonatal septicemia in the neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Material and Methods: Blood cultures were performed for all clinically suspected neonatal septicemia cases for 1‑year. Identification of all pathogenic isolates was followed by antibiotic sensitivity testing.
Results: We did blood cultures for 450 neonates and 42% were culture positive. Early onset sepsis were 92 (49%) and 96 (51%) were late onset sepsis. Gram‑positive isolates were 60% and 40% were Gram‑negative. Staphylococcus aureus (40%), coagulase negative Staphylococcus.....
