Abstract: Background: Diabetes alters the metabolic components of the body. Because of this metabolic abnormalities, many internal structures which depend on the metabolic products are also affected. Internal organelle dysfunction finally leads to organ dysfunction and death. Hypercalcemia is one of the important complication of diabetes mellitus. Hypercalcemia occurs in diabetes due to many mechanisms including insulin resistance. The heart is damaged by many conditions like hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia etc.Even though hypercalcemia is not defined as a risk factor for cardiac complications in older days, many trials and studies have proved that hypercalcemia will produce severe cardiac abnormality including systolic and diastolic dysfunction based on morphological changes in the heart. The heart is damaged by many conditions like hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia etc.......

Abstract: Objective: To demonstrate the equivalence of milrinone and levosimendan in the immediate postoperative period in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction. Design & Setting: A prospective equivalence study from December 2017 to December 2019 at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. Patients undergoing OPCAB with EF <40% were included in this study. Participants & Intervention: Randomization done intraoperatively on table or in the ICU. Patients were received either Levosimendan bolus dose of 6 μg kg -1. given over 1 hr. followed by dosage of 0.05 to 0.2 μg kg -1 min -1 or Milrinone 30 μg kg -1 bolus over 1 hour followed by dosage of 0.3 to 0.5 μg kg -1 min -1. The primary outcome was 30-day mortality. Results: Total 78 patients......

Abstract: Introduction: Spinal anaesthesia (SA), also called spinal block or subarachnoid block is a type of regional anaesthesia, in which an opioid or local anaesthetic is injected into the subarachnoid space. Local anaesthetics include amides and esters. Postoperative pain relief was a vital issue with for local anesthestics like Ropivacaine. So, an adjuvant is added with Ropivacaine to provide prolonged postoperative analgesia with better intraoperative haemodynamic conditions with minimal side effects.....

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Anti-tubercular medications have been widely used to successfully treat the condition, but despite their effectiveness, there are still many problems that need to be resolved, including the need to manage the side effects of the drugs. One of the often encountered side effects and a significant reason for treatment noncompliance is hepatotoxicity. The degree of severity might range from a straightforward change in the liver's enzymes and acute hepatitis to acute liver failure with a very high death rate. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A Prospective, analytical study.....

Abstract: Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a severe form of dengue fever, a mosquito-borne disease that is a significant public health concern in tropical and subtropical regions. This study aimed to investigate the association between hematocrit levels and platelet counts in patients with DHF during a 2022 outbreak in Dhaka. Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted with a total of 239 patients diagnosed with DHF. Data were collected on sociodemographic characteristics, clinical presentations, comorbidities, and dengue diagnosis tests. Hematocrit levels and platelet counts were categorized, and their associations with dengue diagnosis tests were analyzed.......

Abstract: Tooth loss can occur by progressive caries, accidents, and gum problems. This can affect the beauty, smile, and chewing efficiency of an individual. This can be corrected by replacing the teeth with an artificial denture. Today, with the stress on the preventive measures in prosthodontics the use of overdenture has increased. Overdenture is a treatment option for individuals with very few teeth. So, preserving the root under the denture will maintain the proprioception, preserve the alveolar ridge by preventing residual ridge resorption and maintain denture stability. This will help to transfer the occlusal force along the tooth long axis and prevents the dislodgement of denture.Overdentures have....

Abstract: Tuberculosis in its pseudo-tumor form is a rare entity. It can mimic at any point a bronchopulmonary neoplasia, both primary and secondary. The authors report the case of a patient admitted for a productive cough bringing back whitish sputum, with several episodes of low-abundance hemoptysis and dyspnea on exertion, in a context of declining general condition. Imaging supported a bronchogenic carcinoma while the trans-parietal biopsy biopsy confirmed tumor-like pulmonary tuberculosis.
