Abstract: Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a complex autoimmune chronic liver disease of unknown etiology that occurs as one's immune system attacks liver cells and creates a chronic inflammatory state which may cause acute liver failure or progress to cirrhosis. Seronegative AIH follows a similar course to auto-antibody positive AIH and diagnosis may be challenging (1). There is no single test to identify seronegative AIH and hence a delay in diagnosis and appropriate treatment may lead to progression of the liver disease. If not fully worked up, AIH may even increase the risk of malignancy. Therefore, a liver biopsy is a crucial step in the workup for AIH (2). We report a rare case of severe AIH associated with negative antibodies.

Abstract: Teeth are a precious gift from the Almighty that play an unparalleled role in human beings. Women during pregnancy are vulnerable to a large number of diseases, including various oral and dental health problems. The present authors aimed to find out the prevalence, impact, and care of various dental diseases during pregnancy in women in Bangladesh. Google Scholar was used for finding the recent articles relevant to dental diseases in pregnant women using various keywords. A comprehensive literature review (2008-2023) showed that pregnant women are vulnerable to a number of dental diseases, namely dental caries, gingivitis, periodontitis, calculus, cavities, bleeding....

Abstract: The term LASER is 'Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation'. As its first application , in 1960, the laser has hard and soft tissue applications. In past decades, there is research studies in laser application. In hard tissue application, it is for caries prevention, bleaching, restorative removal and curing, cavity preparation, dentinal hypersensitivity, growth modulation and for diagnostic purposes, In soft tissue application it is used for wound healing, removal of hyperplastic tissue to uncovering of impacted or partially erupted tooth, photodynamic therapy . Use of the laser proved to increase efficiency, specificity, ease, and cost and comfort of the dental procedure.

Abstract: Missing maxillary lateral incisors present unique orthodontic and prosthetic challenges as well as aesthetic issues. Alveolar bone is not developed here due to congenital absence of lateral incisors. The amount & quality of cortical bone between the canine and central incisors determines the implant prosthesis for missing lateral incisor prosthesis in order to ensure optimal stability. For this reason, the most popular implant type for congenitally absent lateral incisor prosthesis is presently basal or bi-cortical dental implants. In order to successfully rehab these cases nowadays, dental implants that closely resemble natural dentition in terms of emergence profile, prosthetic........

Abstract: 'Zero Hunger' and 'Good Health and Well – Being' are globally accepted as the crucial goals of sustainable development to be achieved by 2030. These goals are directly related to the nutritional needs of humanity. The good health and well – being of people of any country can be assured by ensuring the quality nutritional and health care provided to them at their younger age. According to UNICEF in India 20 percent of the children under the age of five years suffer from wasting due to acute malnutrition. This is a distress signal for the nation like India where the number of such children is in millions. The nation is well aware of this situation and the importance of child health and so taken initiatives to.......

Abstract: Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) of suspected salivary gland lesions has an established role in preoperative diagnosis and management of patients1. The diseases of salivary gland form an important yet an interesting group of lesions in respect to their diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Although salivary gland tumors account for 2-6.5% of all head and neck tumors, their superficial location, easy accessibility and high diagnostic accuracy makes FNAC a popular method for evaluating salivary gland tumors2,3. Salivary gland tumors can arise.....

Abstract: Ross syndrome is a rare disease entity caused due to partial autonomic dysfunction. It is represented by a triad of areflexia or hyporeflexia, Adie's tonic pupil and hypohydrosis or anhydrosis. We present case of a 46 year old male with complaint of excessive sweating over left side of trunk since 2 years. Examination revealed hyporeflexia and adie's tonic pupil. Very few cases (~50) have been reported about this disorder till date..

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Anxiety plays a very important part in patients undergoing surgical removal of third molars. Hence effectively managing this anxiety becomes an important aspect in the dental profession. Different modes of communication are employed which often yield varying results. Thus, understanding which mode proves best in reducing anxiety is highly pertinent. OBJECTIVES: To comparatively evaluate the anxiety levels in patients undergoing surgical removal of third molars provided with written, verbal and audio-visual form of preoperative information. METHODS: 80 patients were divided into three....

Abstract: The Postoperative infection rate (PIR) generally depends on factors such as the type of surgery, the cleanliness of equipment, medical procedures, and the level of microorganisms in the immediate and surrounding environments. Another major factor to consider is the quality of the air in the operating room (OR). The aim of this paper is review different ventilation systems in order to evaluate the of infection control (IC). This review consists of a literature review and observations in OR. The objective is to assist design engineers in developing more efficient ventilation systems, and to help stakeholders in choosing the "best" system for the particular type of surgery they need to perform. The practical result will be that security aspects of IC will be strengthened, which should lead to lower PIR.

Abstract: Surface roughness is a component of surface texture. It is quantified by the deviations in the direction of the normal vector of a real surface from its ideal form. Roughness plays an important role in determining how a real object will interact with its environment. In orthodontics, the surface roughness requires to be rough enough to lodge a secure bonding and various techniques in literature can deliver it. Acid etching and sandblasting or air abrasion technique have been discussed both separately and in combination for over years.....
