Abstract: Background : Ovary is an important site for both benign and malignant tumors in the female genital tract. Due to the deep seated nature of ovarian cancers, lack of screening tests and non specific clinical features these patients often present at an advanced stage of disease. Accurate histopathological typing and grading of ovarian tumors is needed for early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of the patient. Materials and methods: This.......

Abstract: Background : Various benign and malignant conditions can lead to widespread abnormalities in the pleura. Common culprits include asbestos rela ted pleural fibrosis, fibrothorax, empyema, mesothelioma, and metastatic disease. While the characteristic CT appearances of these diffuse pleural diseases have been documented, there is a notable gap in research analyzing the diagnostic utility of CT in d istinguishing between them. Diffuse pleural abnormalities typically involve a mix of pleural thickening, calcification, and effusion, resulting in overlapping CT manifestations across different diseases.....

Abstract: Background: Periodontitis being an immune-inflammatory disease is an amalgamation of social, behavioral, systemic, environmental, and genetic risk factors. Smoking is one such risk factor that contributes to periodontal destruction. Chronic deficiency of nutrients like Folic acid and Vitamin B12 manifests as pathological alterations in the periodontal tissue. It has been reported that Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) is adversely affected by cigarette smoking. Thus, we have selected this study to compare the serum folic acid, Vitamin B12 levels, and ESR in smokers with chronic periodontitis......

Abstract: The lip and cheek are joined to the gingiva, periosteum, and alveolar mucosa by a mucous membrane fold called the frenum. Too tight attachment of the frenum to the gingival margin can cause gingival health problems. This can be caused by an interference with the control of plaque or by a tenseness in the muscles. A frenectomy is the course of treatment for such an abnormal frenum. This case study covers a frenectomy performed using the traditional method and follows the patient for one months.

Abstract: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is overexpressed in many different cancers and is involved in the regulation of cellular metabolism, growth, migration and differentiation. EGFR expression in UNCT (undifferentiated carcinoma of nasopharyngeal type) has been previously reported for Asian patients, and, as for other head and neck locations, is overexpressed in 80% of cases and is associated with poor prognosis. The nasopharyngeal cancers have an endemic apportionment affecting overwhelmingly East Asia and North Africa, however, at this time, no studies have been conducted in this latter population. The objective of the present study.......

Abstract: SUMMARY Plummer-Vinson syndrome (PVS) is a rare condition with the classic triad of dysphagia, anaemia and oesophageal ring. Crohn's disease is generally accompanied by malnutrition and iron deficiency. Two cases of patients with Crohn's disease presenting with PVS have been described in the literature. We present a case of PVS complicating Crohn's disease in a 22-year-old female patient with progressively worsening dysphagia.

Abstract: An adolescent female aged 13 years was presented with post rachitic genu valgum deformity (Fig. 1) of both the knees. Patient had no history of pain, past trauma, infection or any other significant medical problem except for the treatment for rickets in childhood. The intermalleolar distance was found to be 21 cm. A decision to correct the genu valgus deformity by supracodylar corrective femoral osteotomy was taken. We resorted by making a V shaped osteotomy in sagittal plane with the apex of the V proximal to the distal femoral growth plate, subsequently corrected the........

Abstract: Cervical Pap smear is a screening procedure which is used to identify the lesions in cervix such as precancerous lesions and also which was helpful in prevention of subsequent invasive cervical carcinoma. Worldwide among females, cervical carcinoma is the second most common cancer. The Liquid Based Cytology is the technique which is developed to screen cervical pap smears as an alternative to Conventional Pap Smear; now a days the reason to choose liquid based cytology is that it reduces the artifacts and the screening time when compared to conventional method. The study was done on 72 patients who attended gynecology outpatient department presenting...

Abstract: Background Acute respiratory infections (ARI) continue to pose a significant health burden among children under the age of five, particularly in low and middle income countries. Understanding the healthcare seeking behavior for ARI am ong this vulnerable population is crucial for effective management and prevention of associated morbidity and mortality. Early recognition of danger signals by mothers at home and their health seeking behavior in appearance of danger signs were the key str ategies to prevent severe life threatening complications. Methods : A cross sectional study was conducted in the rural field practice area, attached to the Department of Community Medicine, of Al Ameen Medical College Vijayapur District.....
