Abstract: Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the result of type Itympanoplasy in geriatric age group( age> 60 years) in terms of closure of perforation and hearing improvement. Study Design: It's a prospective study done between July 2015 to December 2016 at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. Materials and Method:40 new cases with mucosal type of Chronic OtitisMedia (COM) are included in this study. Type-I tympanoplasty done for all cases. At 6 months post operatively patients are examined for graft uptake status and hearing improvement. Result:among 40 patients 26 were male and rest 14 were female, mean age of our sample is 63.65 with SD10.39. Patients mostly complain about discharge from the affected ear(90%) and hearing loss(83%). The pre and post-operative pure tone mean are calculated at 0.5kHz, 1kHz, 2kHz and 3kHz frequency. Hearing gain is measured as the difference of mean of pre and post operative pure tone averages. Hearing gain is significant with p value <0.05 in all frequencies measured............

Abstract: Objective: To study the incidence and clinical profile of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients.MethodsPatients with histopathological evidence of breast cancer were evaluated for ER, PR HER-2 neu by immunohistochemistry. Their incidence and clinical profile were studied and result were analyzed statistically. Results: 196 out of 600 (32.67%) patients had TNBC. Patients with TNBC had younger age at presentation (51.48% were <50 years age) when compared to non-TNBC group (37.56% younger than 50). Patients with TNBC had significantly large tumor size (>5 Cm 24.85% vs 15.73%, p=0.012), higher node positivity (74.56% vs 64.86%, p=0.032), high recurrence whether distant or local (27.22% vs 16%, p=0.03), higher histopathological grade (55.90% vs 41.14%, p=0.05) when compared for non-TNBC group. 3 year DFS (Disease Free Survival) was significant lower in TNBC group (74.24% vs 85.66%, p<0.05). 5 year DFS rate was less in TNBC group, but not statistically significant...........

Abstract: Aim: To study spectrum and histopathology of premalignant and malignant lesions of oral cavity. Introduction: Oral health is important for the quality of life of all individuals. Oral cancer is the most common cancer in the Indian subcontinent accounting for 40% of all cancers as compared to 2-4% of malignancies in the west. Materials And Methods: This was a retrospective study over a period of one year. Histopathological examination of total number of 302 casesfor a period of one year from January 2016 to December 2016 was done. Results: Out of 302 cases, 261 were malignant tumorsand 41were premalignant. Among malignant tumors most common was Well differentiated squamous cell carcinomaand among premalignant lesions most common was Leukoplakia with dysplasia. Peak incidence of tumors of both premalignant and malignant lesions was in the age group of 40-60yrs.

Abstract: The use of headgear has several clinical applications like distalization, restricting maxillary growth and anchorage control. The main being control of the vertical maxillary excess. In this article a 11 yr old patient with a high pull headgear for a period of 10 months is detailed. Cephalometrically the result indicates the use of high pull headgear causes both skeletal and dentoalveolar changes.

Abstract: Diabetic foot ulcer is a historically important disease which has been managed in myriad ways over the ages. Dressings form an important aspect of the treatment protocol. Here efficacy some of the newer dressings-namely collagen, alginate, topical hydrogel were compared with that of the conventional saline dressing. The study was done over a period of 6 months from March to October 2016 among 100 consenting diabetic foot ulcer patients admitted to Govt.Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. It was found out that patients in the collagen group had faster development of granulation tissue, shorter hospital stay and overall better healing. Even though the search for the ideal dressing material continues, among the materials studied here collagen appears superior..

Abstract: Endometrial carcinoma is predominantly a disease of postmenopausal women .Only 1-6% occur in women under 40 years. Majority of cases are associated with hype- estrogenic states. Younger patients present with clinical challenges as there is loss of fertility and surgical menopause with standard surgical treatment. Young women have an early stage distribution at diagnosis and a good prognosis. This is a retrospective study to emphasize the need for endometrial evaluation in young women presenting with abnormal uterine bleeding .A retrospective case study was carried out at our tertiary health care centre, Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre And Research Institute(2015-2017)............

Abstract: Background: Many worldwide studies have investigated the anatomical differences between males and females. One of the most areas was studied is the morphological differences in the bony pelvis. Apart from their medical and anatomical values these information had been used in forensic and anthropological studies. Objectives: This study is held to shed a light in presence of difference in bony pelvis regarding the subpubic angle among Sudanese males and females subjects. Methods: A sample of 54 males and 53 females X-ray pelvises had been collected, examined and the subpubic angle was measured for each individual. Results: The range of the subpubic angle in male was found (82 to 128) and the mean was 106. In females the range was found (104 to 170) and the mean was 140 with significant statistical difference. Conclusion: The anatomical difference of the subpubic angle in males and females was significant in this study. Our results are comparable to that obtained from other regional studies held in Africa with some minor differences that may reflect ethnic variation.

Abstract: The pituitary gland width was measured by Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technique, in 69 individuals, the data was evaluated according to sex and age groups. In all cases the mean value of the female pituitary gland width (11.77) mm, which was higher than male (9.60) mm. A gradual increase in the pituitary gland width was noted in the age group (20-29) yrs old, while a decrease in the pituitary width was noted after age (50-59) yrs.Nevertheless, there was a conspicuous increase in the pituitary gland width in the 61yrs in females, and 67 yrs in male, this study reflect the role of puberty and lactation and their relation to the pituitary width. This study opened new doors for more researches in this field to use other specific sciences like histology and physiology of the pituitary cells in details to determine which lobe or cell has got changes exactly.

Abstract: The aim of this research was to determine the most common anatomical form of roots and canals configuration of the maxillary first premolar among Sudanese population. The study was an observational descriptive in nature. Diagnostic periapical radiographs were used along with clinical findings. Data was collected from departments of restorative dentistry in some Khartoum state's clinics and hospitals. The study included a total of 80 patients, of which (30) were males and (50) were females with a minimum age of 15 years and a majority ranging between 26 and 36 years. It revealed that 30 (37.5 %) of the maxillary first premolars under study had a single root, while 49 (61.25%) had two roots and only one tooth...........

Abstract: Patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) respond to treatment modalities such as surgery and radiochemotherapy. Clinicians are, however, continuously testing other treatment combinations to see if they can improve the therapeutic results, lessen side effects or quality of lives in cancer survivors. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of prescription of Ganoderma lucidum powder and/or extract on OSCC patients undergoing radiochemotherapy treatment following surgical removal of primary cancerous tissues. After surgery, G. lucidum was prescribed in three forms: G. lucidum powder capsule (500 mg/capsule), brushing teeth with dental paste (containing 0.5% extract) and drinking tea (containing 0.2% extract) thrice daily for three months.............
