Abstract: Aims and Objectives: Joint replacement is one of the most frequently performed methods of surgical treatment for degenerative processes and the consequences of injuries. The technologies of medical support of the perioperative period, as well as the rehabilitation component are important. However, due to the increase in the number of operations performed the number of complications is also growing. Currently, surgical approaches in the treatment of bilateral knee OA remain poorly understood. In the literature, there are data on the intervals between knee arthroplasty from 3 months to 5 years. The epidemiological and pathogenetic aspects of the restoration of functional activity.....

Abstract: Diabetic ketoacidosis is the most common presenting manifestation in previously undiagnosed diabetic patients coming to emergency department. Acute generalised weakness and paralysis due to various causes is also the most common in ER. In the present case the patient presenting with progressive weakness and breathlessness of short duration. On evaluation by history and clinical examination revealed that patient had symptoms suggestive of diabetes but not diagnosed yet. And there is hypotonia ,areflexia of all limbs with severe respiratory distress and acidotic breathing. Laboratory investigations revealed that patient has diabetic ketoacidosis with severe hypokalemia .Severe symptomatic hypokalemia is rare initial clinical manifestation of DKA..

Abstract: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease has become one of the most commonly diagnosed liver diseases in patients having inflammatory bowel diseases. Studies have shown that the prevalence of NAFLD in patients with IBD ranges from 8.2% to 40%, depending on the different definitions and diagnoses used in the studies. In 12.2 % of the patients, liver fibrosis was also reported.Risk factors associated with NAFLD development are reported as metabolic syndrome, intestinal inflammation and dysbiosis, obesity, bowel surgery, and IBD medications in patients with IBD. Macrovascular steatosis and hepatomegaly were linked with longer duration and higher doses of glucocorticoids...

Abstract: Introduction: The upper and lower pharyngeal airways play an eminent role in the normal growth and development of craniofacial structures. The hyoid bone and its related musculature are also implicated in maintenance of the airway patency. Thus, present study is designed to compare the upper and lower pharyngeal airway dimension and hyoid bone position in subjects with normodivergent and hyperdivergent facial patterns in Class I and Class II malocclusions. Materials and Methods: The study was......

Abstract: Background: Uterine fibroids are benign tumors arising from smooth muscle cells of myometrium. They are slow growing tumours and account for 5-20% of women in reproductive age group.Although benign they present with heavy menstrual bleeding causing substantial morbidity unless treated. Objective: The study aims to analyse clinical, sonological and pathological spectrum in cases of leiomyoma of uterus. Materials and methods: A clinical study of 50 cases of fibroid uterus was made in VGH from FEB 2015-JUNE 2016.Diagnosis was confirmed by ultrasound. The cases selected for medical management were excluded from the study......

Abstract: Primary intraosseous carcinoma (PIOC) arising as a de novo is a very rare malignant neoplasm, which is locally aggressive with poor prognosis. According to WHO, PIOC is defined as a squamous cell carcinoma arising within the jawbone without connection to the oral mucosa, probably from odontogenic epithelial residues. The definitive diagnosis of PIOC is very difficult because the lesion must be distinguished from tumors that have metastasized to the jaw from distant sites, from alveolar carcinoma that have invaded the bone from the surface, and from tumors of maxillary sinus origin. Because of this, the case reports of primary intraosseous carcinoma of jaw are rare. This case report is intended to discuss a case of primary intraosseous carcinoma of jaw along with a review of literature.

Abstract: In children of age 5 years or less, early closed reduction and application of cast is the ideal treatment for most diaphyseal fractures. In skeletally mature adolescents, antegrade solid intramedullary nail has become the standard treatment. But, the best treatment for children aged between five to sixteen years is still under debate. Compared with younger children, patients in this age group have a high risk of shortening and malunion when conservative measures are used. Other modalities of treatment include external fixation, plates and screws, use of solid antegrade intramedullary nail. However, there are risks of complications, particularly pin tract infection and re-fractures after external fixation or osteonecrosis with solid nails. In the past seven years, fixation with flexible intramedullary nails became popular technique, for stabilizing long bone fractures in school-aged children. ESIN......

Abstract: Vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) dressing therapy uses negative pressure to assist in wound healing. The Negative pressure drains fluid from the wound, thus removing the substrate for growth of microorganisms. The negative pressure also accelerates granulation tissue formation and promote angiogenesis. The mechanical stimulation of cells by tensile forces also play a role by increasing cellular proliferation and protein synthesis. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) involves the use of a negative pressure therapy or suction device to aspirate and remove fluids, debris, and infectious materials from the wound bed to promote the formation of the granulation tissue. Aim: Our study aims to evaluate outcome of vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) dressing therapy in the management of postoperative......

Abstract: Although titanium is known for its exceptional and numerous advantageous properties, a lot of recent investigations and studies have revealed illustrations of metal sensitivity brought about by Titanium containing materials and hence proves a relation between titanium and Allergic Contact Dermatitis. Attention is needed towards the development of new and precise method for early diagnosis of titanium allergy and to find out the alternative biomaterial which can be used in place of titanium.

Abstract: Introduction: Incisional hernia is a common problem faced by general surgeons. Open repair is associated with incidence of post operative pain, seromas, hematoma and wound infection leading to prolonged hospital stay and added costs. Laparoscopic repair, though technically demanding, is believed to have better post-operative outcomes and shorter length of stay Aims: To compare the post-operative complications between laparoscopic and open incisional hernia repair Methods: The study was conducted in the tertiary care government medical college from October 2016 to December 2016 after approval from ethics committee. It was a prospective study of 60 patients of diagnosed incisional hernias operated within the same time period. They were divided into two groups- group1 included cases of open repair by onlay mesh.....

Abstract: Cystic lymphangiomas are rare, congenital, benign lesions occurring early in life, mainly in the head, neck, and oral cavity, rarely occur in abdominal wall. It is due to aberrant proliferation of lymphatic vessels resulting from abnormal development of the lymphatic system. Lymphangiomas are classified as micro cystic, macro cystic, and cystic hygromas according to the size of the lymphatic cavities incorporated. These are soft, variable in size and shape and tend to grow extensively if not surgically excised. These are multilocular cysts filled with clear or yellow lymph fluid, some time mixed with blood. Histopathologically, lymphangiomas are of three types: Lymphangioma simplex, Cavernous lymphangioma, and Cystic hygroma depending on the size of vascular spaces and.....

Abstract: Annular pancreas is a clinicopathological condition in which ectopic pancreatic tissue encircles around the duodenum and usually causes partial obstruction, but when associated with web or stenosis causes complete obstruction. These children usually present in neonatal period and infancy and straightway surgery is the treatment. Rarely presentation may be delayed as in this case who presented to us at 5 years of age with recurrent attacks of vomiting and a diagnosis of annular pancreas was made and the patient underwent duodenoduodenostomy.
