Abstract: Background: Over the last few centuries, medicine has seen so many advances, in spite of which, the management of leg ulcer remains a very difficult challenge. In order to tackle this, many modalities of wound dressings and topical applicants have been developed and a lot of research are still going on. It is therefore essential to introduce new techniques in the management of these wounds to make them more accessible and affordable especially to the less privileged economic class of patients. The method of evaluating the wound is of prime importance to develop a good therapeutic plan. In this study, we aimed to describe the course of evolution in the healing of chronic leg ulcers by utilising the Pressure Ulcer Scale for Healing (PUSH) tool. Materials and methods......

Abstract: Background Nasal reconstruction was one of earliest performed plastic surgical procedures. Reconstruction of nasal defects must preserve the integrity of complex facial functions and expressions and a pleasing aesthetic outcome. Location, size ,shape and orientation of the defects are important factors in determing the method used in reconstruction. Individualized therapy is the best course and numerous flaps has been designed to provide coverage of a variety of nasal specific defects. Methods The Study done at Sawai Man Singh hospital, Jaipur from January 2019 to October 2020 . A total of 85 patients having nasal defects were included. Reconstruction with local flaps was performed in all cases........

Abstract: Dyke-Davidoff-Masson syndrome (DDMS) is one of the disease processes that present with cerebral hemiatrophy. It may be characterized by contralateral hemiparesis, seizure, mental retardation, facial asymmetry and learning disabilities. Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare blood disorder though to be characterized by thromboses resulting in a low platelet count consisting of fever, renal disease, neurological symptoms, thrombocytopenic purpura and microangiopathic haemolytic anaemia. This case report illustrates the complexity of syndrome of Dyke–Davidoff–Masson and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura which can constitute a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge in an emergency setting when evaluating a patient with recurrent seizures.....

Abstract: Introduction: Premedication is an important step before giving anaesthesia to patient. Midazolam, a benzodiazepine, has short duration of action, causes anxiolysis, muscular relaxation, amnesia in lower doses and sedation, hypnosis in higher ones. Clonidine, an alpha-2 agonist, causes reduction of anaesthetic and analgesic requirements, haemodynamic stability, sedation, antisialogogue effect. Materials and Methods: A comparative study between midazolam and Clonidine as a premedication for general anesthesia was conducted on 50 patients of either cases at Department of Anaesthesia, Calcutta Medical College, Kolkata, and West Bengal. All the patients belongs to ASA I or II. The age of patients ranged from 15-65 years. On the day before the operation pre-operative assessment was carried out. Results: Majority of cases in both the groups were in the age group of 16.......

Abstract: Introduction: Surgical site infections (SSIs) are the most common nosocomial infection, accounting for 38% of all infections among surgical patients Studies corroborate that increased length of hospital stay and cost are associated with SSIs. A patient who develops an SSI while hospitalized has a greater than 60% greater risk of being admitted to the intensive care unit, is 15 times more likely to be readmitted to the hospital within 30 days after discharge, and incurs and attributable extra hospital stay of 6.5 days, leading to a direct cost of an additional $3000 per infection. SSIs due to Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) in particular have also been shown to have a higher mortality than those due......

Abstract: Introduction: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is gold standard surgery for symptomatic gall stone disease which is the commonest disease needs surgical management. Cholecystectomy can be curative only whose symptoms are due to gallstones, and not due to other upper GI pathologies. It causes unnecessary burden of cost and surgical risk to patient, it also delays definitive treatment for the actual cause.
Materials and methods: The present cohort study conducted in the Department of General Surgery, Osmania Medical College and Osmania General Hospital, Koti, Hyderabad from January 2020 to December 2020 (prospective study). 50 Patients presenting with single or multiple symptomatic gallstone disease confirmed by the ultrasound findings admitted in......

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: COVID-19 is caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Monitoring ofbiochemical parameters in COVID-19 patients is criticalfor assessing disease severity and progression as well asmonitoring therapeutic interventionMATERIAL & METHODS: It was a hospital based retrospective study conducted at a tertiary care hospital from Vijayawada. A pre designed schedule was designed to get the relevant data. Data on 200 admitted COVID-19 patients was taken from the hospital case records using that schedule. Studyvariables included demographic characteristicslike age, sex, biochemical parameters and outcome. RESULTS: A total of 200 hospital case records data was analyzed. Abstract: Cystic hygroma is a benign lymphatic malformation most commonly occurring in the cervico-facial region. It arises from sequestered lymphatic sacs that fail to communicate with the lymphatico-venous system. Although commonly presenting in paediatric age, cystic hygroma can occur at any age. Recurrent cystic hygroma is a known entity and can result from inadequate excision or specific tumour characteristics. We report such a case of giant recurrent cystic hygroma in the neck in a 15 years old male the surgical management of which was challenging due to the large size, previous adhesions and proximity to vital structures.

Abstract: Introduction: Ovarian fibroma is a solid stromal tumor of the sex cord of the ovary, which accounts for 1-4% of benign ovarian tumors. It is sometimes associated with the Demons-Meigs syndrome, leading to suspicion of malignancy' at the clinical and paraclinical levels. Observation. We report two observations of ovarian fibroma Diagnosed and treated in our department associated with Demons-Meigs syndrome in one case, with suspicion of a malignant ovarian pathology, given the clinical signs and the radiological aspect, the treatment was radical surgery in both patients and it is the histological.....

Abstract: Background: Because of the widespread prevalence of dermatophytosis in India, it is important to know their regional prevalence and clinical presentations along with the efficacy of the commonly prescribed topical medications. Aims: To study the prevalence, clinical presentation, age and sex distribution of superficial dermatophytic infections in a rural area along with clinicomycological correlation with the efficacy, safety and tolerability of topical terbinafine 1% vs topical fluconazole 0.5% vs topical miconazole 2%. Material and methods: The study a randomized controlled clinical trialwas carried out in the department of dermatology for the duration of one year after ethical clearance, in patients with a confirmed diagnosis of dermatophytosis. Abstract: Introduction: Age-related cervical degeneration is evident in over 50% of the middle-aged population and is the most common cause of neural dysfunction. Cervical spine anteriorly stabilised by use of anterior cervical plate, strut graft, standalone cage or combination to maintain curvature and facilitate arthrodesis. Standalone strut graft has high rate of complications such as graft subsidence, dislodgement, non-union and donor site morbidities. Anterior plating has inherent deficiencies like plate loosening, screw pull out, breakage, trachea-oesophageal irritation, has increased operation time. Intervertebral cages avoid some of these difficulties due to their self-fixing construct, ability to contain graft or graft substitute in it. The aim of this study is to compare the clinical and radiological outcome of stand-alone cage in single level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion used to treat cervical degenerative disc disease......
