Abstract: Background: Thoracoscopy done under local anesthesia provides a diagnostic and therapeutic approach to manage pleural effusion. It permits us to biopsy under direct visualization compared to blind pleural biopsy. It has equivalent sensitivity as compared to Computerized Tomography guided pleural biopsy for diagnosing causes management of an undiagnosed pleural effusion in rural areas. Materials and methods: A total of 70 cases of pleural effusion who visited out patient department at a rural medical college between November 2018 and November 2020, were included in the study. The thoracoscopy was done under local anesthesia under all aseptic precautions. A.....

Abstract: Canines contribute significantly in functional occlusion and form the foundation of an esthetic smile. So, any factor that interferes with the normal development and eruption of canine has serious consequences. Early diagnosis of canine impaction is essential for proper deimpaction of canine. Determination of the prognosis of the impacted canine is essential before orthosurgical approach for management of this specific malocclusion. Proper knowledge of the position of canine in relation to the other anatomical structure is very important in surgical exposure and orthodontic management of impacted maxillary canine. In the present article, with an overview on diagnosis, prognosis of impacted canine. Key words: Diagnosis, Impacted canine, Guidelines.

Abstract: AIM: Anxiety affects academic achievement. In this study, anxsiety on the students of the anatomy practical examination was investigated. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Two exam anxiety inventory were performed in medical school grade 2 students prior to anatomy practice exam. RESULTS: AcarBaltas (AB) general exam anxiety rate was found higher in female but not statistically significant. Anxiety score of AB exam anxiety inventory inquiring how the others see them, was found higher among males. AB anxiety score was significantly lower among the students who were graduates of private high schools. State (SS) anxiety score was found to be higher among boys significantly, however no significantly difference trait (ST) anxiety score was.......

Abstract: The purpose of this in-vitro study is to evaluate the effect of acidic and alcoholic beverages on the surface roughness of nanohybrid and nanofilled resin composite. 160 specimens were prepared and divided in to 4 equal groups based upon the composite material used. Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 and Group 4 containing 40 samples of each material . Specimens of each sample were immersed in Red wine, Orange juice, Cola drink and Deionized water (as a control group) respectively. Initial surface roughness were measured by profilometer. Then the samples were submitted to three cycles per day of exposure to acidic and alcoholic beverages for a period of 7 and 14 days. After immersion the samples in acidic and alcoholic beverages the surface roughness was analysed by profilometer. The data recorded was statistically analyzed using one way ANOVA test followed by POST HOC TUKEYS TEST at significant level of 0.05. Post Hoc Tukeys test was used for pair wise comparison of subgroups......

Abstract: Background: Retroperitoneal mass lesions are one of the common pathologies encountered in radiological practice. Once considered to be a chiefly pathological diagnosis with radiology taking a supplementary role in evaluating disease location and extent, it is now accepted that radiology does play an important role in primary diagnosis of retroperitoneal lesions. Computed tomography (CT) is often the first investigation patients with retroperitoneal pathologies undergo, followed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRI is traditionally considered a second line supplementary investigations which helps in tissue characterisation and invasive features. However, due to wider availability, MRI is now being utilised more often as a first line investigation. We have selected this study to evaluate and.....

Abstract: Background: Occupational stress and job dissatisfaction are considered risk factors that can lead to poor psychological wellbeing of health care workers. These factors have also been found to affect the organization in term of absenteeism and turnover. This study aims to establish the relationship between occupational stress and job satisfaction among health workers in tertiary hospitals in Rivers State. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional research design with the aid of survey research was used for data collection from the two tertiary hospitals in Rivers State. The research instrument which was a self administered questionnaire was distributed to 371 health workers which included Doctors, Nurses, Laboratory Scientist, Pharmacist, Administrative staff and others ranging from 18 years.....

Abstract: Background: Patch Testing is a simple non invasive diagnostic procedure of Contact were subjected for
patch test to detect Dermatitis. It is performed by applying the standard series of antigens along with suspected substances in appropriate concentrations to the normal skin in a standardised vehicle and the results are read after 48-72 hours as per the criteria laid down by International Contact Dermatitis Research Group. At present Patch Testing is the only practical and scientific method of demonstrating contact hypersensitivity. This Test elicits an immune response by challenging an already sensitized person to defined amounts of allergen and assessing the degree of response. The test relies on the allergen being absorbed in sufficient quantity to induce a reproducible inflammation of the skin at the.....

Abstract: Irrigation comes from a Latin word, irrigate "moistened", from the verb irrigare. Prognosis of endodontic procedure highly depends on complete three-dimensional debridement of the root canal system. Because of the complex anatomical structure of root canal system like lateral canals, accessory canals, fins and apical delta(1), cleaning and shaping with mechanical instrument alone is insufficient to reach the goal(2). Hence chemical irrigating solution along with mechanical instrumentation is required to achieve the predictable prognosis..

Abstract: Covid has proven its tremendous effect on entire planet with millions of cases and death so far. In our survey the clinical, democratic parameters were tested on 75 patients. Based on Real time and visual inspection tests were performed and CT severity scores were assigned out of 25 based on area covered by lung lobes. In our study level of lymphocytes and eoenophils levels were less in patients with critically ill patients. Moreover there was direct linear relation of d – dimer , IL 6, fibrinogen with CT severity score.

Abstract: Background: Aim of the study: To study the incidence of Abruptio Placentae and its effect on mother and foetus. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted over a period of 2 years from June 2017 to June 2019 and 145 cases of antepartum haemorrhage were analysed out of which 50 cases were that of Abruptio Placentae. The study population included all cases presenting with ante partum haemorrhage to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology during the study period. Subjects selected for the study were all cases diagnosed as having abruptio placentae. Results: In our study, from June 2017 to June 2019, the total number of deliveries were 9000. The total number of antepartum haemorrhages were 345 and those of placenta previa were 200. The number of abruptio placentae patients were 145 and out.....
