Abstract: The purpose of this In-vitro study was to evaluate the effect of different wax pattern construction techniques on marginal accuracy and internal fit of Celtra press crown restorations. Materials and methods: A maxillary 1st premolar was selected and prepared to receive all ceramic crown restoration, 30 identical dies of the prepared tooth were printed using 3D printing resin and divided into 3 groups according to wax pattern fabrication technique. Group C: conventional, Group S: Subtractive, Group A: additive wax pattern. Vertical marginal gap of each wax pattern on its corresponding die was measured using USB digital microscope with built-in camera. All wax patterns were sprued......

Abstract: Herpes Zoster infection also known as "shingles" is a viral infection caused by reactivation of Varicella zoster virus [VZV] causing severe pain, and vesicular rash .After primary infection; VZV remains latent in the neurons of sensory ganglion, of the cranial nerves. Dental symptoms due to gasserian ganglion involvement include orofacial pain with vesicular and ulcerative lesions on intraoral mucosa and extra oral sites. This paper reports two cases of early diagnosis and treatment of herpes sine zoster infection involving maxillary nerve and without clinical eruption of vesicular rash in a 32 –year- old female and 23-year old male patient with lesion on palate with its follow up.......

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Treatment of severe renal failure is dialysis or a renal transplant. Because of lack of kidney donors and poor affordability renal transplants are less common and most people opt for dialysis. Hemodialysis is an expensive procedure requiring costly dialysis machines, a separate dialysis unit, an RO plant and trained technicians and nurses. Intermittent Peritoneal dialysis is cheaper alternative to hemodialysis. In some situations like hemodynamic instability of the patients , peritoneal dialysis is the best alternative. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: A retrospective of study of clinical profile of patients undergoing Intermittent peritoneal dialysis(IPD) for a period of.........

Abstract: Background: Periodontal diseases are a group of highly prevalent infectious, inflammatory conditions of the supporting structures of the teeth. It affects more than 50% of the world's adult population. This necessitated the need for an alternative procedure to clinical assessment for collection of data to monitor periodontal diseases in populations. The aim of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of the self-report tool vis-avis clinical periodontal status in a population in Lagos, Nigeria. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional comparative study was carried out among 356 consecutive adult patients using the CDC-AAP Self‑report surveillance questionnaire and the Community Periodontal Index (CPI). Student's t-test was used for association.......

Abstract: Even though radicular cysts associated with permanent teeth are the most common among the jaw cysts, those associated with primary teeth are reported rare. Enucleation of the cyst is considered a preferred mode of treatment except for large radicular cysts in the developing dentition, where the preservation of permanent tooth buds is vital. This is a case report of a large radicular cyst associated with a primary maxillary molar which was successfully treated by marsupialization and decompression.

Abstract: Background. Diabetes mellitus is assuming a major public health problem and its prevalence is reaching epidemic proportion, morbidity and mortality from the disease has also been on the steady rise, with over 5 million deaths recorded in the year 2015.Improving glycaemic control is of great importance because it helps to reduce the burden of the disease, prevent and delay complications and hence reducing associated mortality. Aim: Is to determine the proportion of patients who achieve optimal glycaemic control and the contribution of demographic, clinical and treatment factors to glycaemic control. Methods: It is a cross sectional descriptive Study. One hundred and fifty subjects diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at least one year prior to study.......

Abstract: Background:Premature rupture of foetal membrane is a complication of pregnancy, leading to maternal and foetal morbidity, it could occur at any gestational age. Rupture to delivery interval varies. Outcome is dependent on the duration of rupture and causative mechanism. The aim of this study was to identify the foeto-maternal outcome of premature rupture of foetal membrane in UATH. Material and Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of one hundred and ninety-two women who was diagnosed and managed for premature rupture of membranes. Data was analysed in simple percentages. Results:The prevalence of premature rupture of foetal membranes in this study was 2.1% and Mean age of women was 30.6 years, about fifty nine percent of patients had identifiable risk factors for PROM and previous history of PROM accounted for the highest factor. There were no maternal and foetal complications in 83% and 55% respectively..

Abstract: Background: Highly active antiretroviral therapy has remained the main strategyin use forthe prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV. There are however conflicting reports ofpoor pregnancy outcomes followingits usein HIV positive pregnant mothers in resource limited settings. We therefore conducted this study to evaluate the effect of these drugson pregnancy outcome ofpositive mothers in our health institution. Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis of medical records of HIVpositive mothers on highly active anti-retroviral therapy whoattendedthe antenatalcare services in our health institutionwas done over a ten-year period of January 2010 to December 2019 for the above objective. Thepregnancyoutcomes evaluated werethe 5 minutes Apgarscore, preterm deliveries, number oflow birth weight, status of the new born (dead or alive),and the status of the mother (dead or alive).......
