Abstract: We present a case of acrodermatitisenteropathica (AE) in a 28 day newborn who came with periorificial and acral dermatitis with diarrhea and had rapid improvement with zinc therapy after 6 days of treatment. We couldnot measure serum zinc level in the patient as it was not available in our centre. Though the treatment is simple and rapid, it is quite distressing and leads to mortality if not treated on time. So, a high index of suspicion is mandatory if there are clinical symptoms that mimics AE so that it can be treated on time.

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Stroke can be due to ischemia or hemorrhage. 80% of strokes are due to an ischemic event. Out of these, 20% are posterior circulation stroke. Posterior circulation is more prone to atherosclerosis like systemic arteries compared to the intracranial part of anterior circulation. MATERIAL & METHODS: This study was carried out in patients who presented with signs and symptoms of PC stroke to the medicine and neurology department of king George hospital, Andhra medical college, Vishakhapatnam. The study was conducted during the time period of November 2019 to October 2020. The stroke events were classified according to the Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) classification. RESULTS: Males were commonly affected than female.......

Abstract: Introduction: Autonomic dysfunction occurs not only in advanced PD but also early in its course. Transcranial ultrasound can pick up SN abnormalities very early in the disease. There are no Indian studies which correlated autonomic dysfunction with TCUS findings. Objectives: This study aims to study prevalence of autonomic dysfunction, to correlate with clinico-imageological features and to assess the impact of autonomic dysfunction on quality of life. Materials and methods: This is a Retrospective and Prospective study, with 45 PD patients taken from Movement clinic, NIMS, Hyderabad from Jan 2016-June 2017.PD diagnosis based on UKPD society Brain Bank Criteria, For motor evaluation –1)H&Y staging2)UPDRSIII on off staging, Questionnaires used were 1.SCOPA–AUT,2.PDQ 39,3.MOCA&Lab Tests:1.Autonomic Function Tests,2.Transcranialultrasound........

Abstract: Introduction: . Hyponatremia, a very common electrolyte abnormality in hospitalized patients and is defined as a serum sodium level <135 mEq/L. Acute hyponatremia poses an immediate danger to the central nervous system. Hyponatremia can eventually lead to seizure and death depending on magnitude and severity of onset[2,3]. Hyponatremia can be classified on the basis of serum osmolality, volume status and urinary sodium into hypertonic, isotonic and hypotonic types. Hyponatremia may also be classified into Hypervolemic, euvolemic and hypovolemic. Materials and Methods:This prospective observational study was done on 344 nos of patients in ICU of Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital. Results: The proportion of patients having hyponatremia among ICU.......

Abstract: Background: Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) refers to any group of acute symptoms and sign, attributed to sever obstruction of the coronary arteries . N-terminal pro-BNP (NT-proBNP), are secreted by human atrial and ventricular myocardium. The rise in BNP and NT-pro BNP levels after STEMI correlates with infarct size and regional wall motion abnormalities. Echocardiography remains the most frequently used and usually the initial imaging test to evaluate all cardiovascular diseases related to a structural, functional, or hemodynamic abnormality of the heart or great vessels. High blood pressure often confers silent cardiovascular risk, and its prevalence is steadily increasing.......

Abstract: AIM of the work : To study the changes in Orthopaedic practice, patient care during Covid-19 Pandemic. Patients and methods: The change in number of patients , nature of injury , sex ratio of patients reporting to casualty in Tier-3 Hospital are compared and the necessary precautions which were taken to ensure safety of everyone. Results : The number of patients reduced significantly. It was seen that the male: female ratio among the patients increased further . Earlier Road Traffic accident was the main contributing factor for injury which now was replaced by Physical Assault. Conclusion: Orthopaedic healthcare services in India is suffering a drastic cutback due to COVID-19. A drastic reduction in arthroscopic procedures like cruciate ligament......

Abstract: Background: Acute Coronary Syndrome is one of the commonly diagnosed life threatening condition as of now. Hence it is necessary to diagnose early and assess the severity of disease as soon as possible. This study is done to prove the correlation of cardiac marker NT-pro BNP in Acute Coronary Syndrome. Aim: To estimate the serum level of N-terminal pro-Brain natriuretic peptide levels in Acute coronary syndrome. Also to find the association of serum NT-pro-BNP levels and echocardiographic parameter in patients with age and gender. Materials and Methods: 70 patients of age group between 25 to 84 of both sexes who got admitted within 24 hours after onset of symptoms and diagnosed as Acute Coronary Syndrome in Baghdad Medical College & Hospital at baghdad medical city during the period of November 2019 to August 2020). The levels of NT-Pro BNP were measure in blood with.......

Abstract: A 45-year-old lady who presents with pain in the right hypochondrium, without jaundice. Abdominal ultrasound showed a lithiasis of the gallbladder, without dilation of the main bile ducts. The liver function tests were normal. the indication for cholecystectomy was asked. Laparoscopic surgical exploration revealed a lithiasis of the gallbladder, with the presence of an anatomical variety of the right hepatic artery which is extra hepatic and which passes over the left edge of the gallbladder to penetrate inside the liver at segment 4 level apart from hepatic salvation. A dissection......

Abstract: Shivering after central neuraxial blockade is unpleasant not only for patients but for anaesthesiologists as well as it induces hypoxemia, lactic acidosis, increased intraocular pressure and intracranial pressure, increased chances of myocardial ischemia and interference with patient's monitoring. Serotonin antagonists reduces the incidence of shivering in patients with spinal anesthesia. Granisetron is better than ondansetron with longer half life and fewer side effects. After getting approval from the ethical committee 60 patients aged between 20-60 years of ASA group I &II were studied over a period of 2 months. Patients of test group G were given granisetron 10μg/kg body weight intravenously before anaesthesia whereas group C was control group. The administration of low dose granisetron reduced the incidence of shivering as well as the degree of intensity of shivering post epidural anaesthesia.

Abstract: Background & objectives: Hemangiomas are abnormal proliferations of blood vessels, making up 7% of all benign soft tissue tumors. These lesions are largely congenital, but approximately 20% can be linked to trauma. Hemangiomas are commonly seen in muscles of the trunk and extremities. Diagnostic ultrasound is appropriate for initial assessment for suspected hemangioma although magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the investigation of choice. Methods: A retrospective review was performed of 8 patients who underwent surgery at a tertiary care hospital in 2020 during the COVID 19 pandemic for exploration of soft tissue lesions that were confirmed to be hemangiomas by radiology studies and few by pathological examination. Conclusion: Skeletal muscle hemangiomas are more likely to pose diagnostic problems than superficial hemangiomas. They present as enlarged soft-tissue masses with few symptoms. The most important consideration for differential diagnosis in young children is the distinction from malignant tumors such as rhabdomyosarcoma, synovial sarcoma, or angiosarcoma. Indications for surgical therapy for young children with Intramuscular hemangioma include spontaneous pain, suspicion of malignancy with rapid tumor growth, thrombocytopenia, and cosmetic deformity. In most of the cases MRI helped in establishing the diagnosis.
