Abstract: Background: Amoebic Liver Abscess is the commonest complication of amoebiasis and the incidence is 3-9 % of total cases of Amoebiasis. The standard treatment of moderate sized liver abscess is use of appropriate antibiotics and supportive care. Routine aspiration in the Liver abscess remains debatable. Ultrasound guided needle aspiration is fairly safe. It is an invasive procedure. However, the review of the literature reveals that treatment of small amoebic liver abscess (single /multiple) is mainly conservative. Despite, large amoebic abscess or major complicated abscess is treated with closed or open drainage method. It needs further studies in medium amoebic liver abscesses to compare conservative alone versus needle aspiration with medical management........

Abstract: Visual dysfunction in DM is multifactorial and depends on predominant pathophysiologic factors in various stages of the disease. One of the primary goals of management in diabetic patients is to avoid the risk of diabetic retinopathy by maintaining blood glucose levels close to the normal range. Before the onset of microvascular lesions, the neural retina of diabetic eyes undergoes subtle functional changes that are not detectable by fundus photography. Analysis of VEP responses may provide early diagnosis of such diabetic changes and determine prognosis during treatment. Pattern VEP (PVEP) can detect any defect from the optic nerve to the occipital cortex1.....

Abstract: Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is CD4 T lymphocyte depletory and the concentration of CD4 T lymphocyte in the blood has been used to classify the HIV disease condition1. Cardiac complications in HIV disease are believed to reflect advanced and late presentation of the disease. HIV cardiac manifestation is however of varying types. Dilated cardiomyopathy also known as HIV cardiomyopathy is known to manifest at CD4 count < 200cells/l and pericardial effusion has been associated with opportunistic co infection which is present in advanced disease with low CD4 receptor cells. This study seeks to corroborate these findings and ascertain the relationship between other......

Abstract: Background: High world-wide sepsis-related mortality and morbidity have highlighted the need of rapid, accurate and cost-effective tool for assessing sepsis severity to ensure timely intervention and therefore better outcomes. Although neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been used as a prognostic factor in various conditions, none of the currently available sepsis scores have utilized it yet. This study aimed to assess NLR as a prognostic factor for patient with sepsis in ICU, and to define its cut-off value for prediction of mortality in sepsis. Materials and Methods: This is an analytical........

Abstract: Background: Opioid use is a public health crisis, the very real possibility of a protracted epidemic of overdose deaths that constitute an ever-widening expanse of population. The public health response to any such epidemic should be to provide safer alternatives for the users. In case of an overdose crisis, this would imply providing a regulated supply of pharmaceutical-grade opioids. There are a few harm reduction interventions that are used globally as a response to this crisis, among them Opioid Substitution Therapy is laying the pathway for harm reduction in India and also improving quality of life. The present study was done to assess the quality.......

Abstract: The Tribal and Non-tribal groups inhabiting in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, India show distinct cultural features. But community groups based on biological characteristics is not distinctly visible. One of the important cultural variations is the type of food they consume; thus ecology shapes the food grown in the area and the food habits. Food has a very important role to play in the wear and tear of the teeth. It has been observed that the incidence of a disease like a dental caries is found differently in this area, part of it, on account of food contents consumed by the people. Such a disease affects people's health and in tern it affects the other functions of the body like......

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Thrombocytopenia is common finding in pediatric age group. Though the platelet count below 150000 define thrombocytopenia do not reveal the underlying pathology can be assessed with platelet indices by avoiding the use of an invasive procedures like bone marrow aspiration or biopsy. The aim of our study is to evaluate the efficacy of platelet indices in differentiating hypoproductive from hyperdestructive thrombocytopenias and to assess sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value. METHODOLOGY: Study done from October 2018 to September 2020, in a tertiary care center, during which 250 cases and controls were studied........
