Title | : | Comparative Study of Epidural (Bupivacaine+Fentanyl) Versus Intramuscular Tramadol for Labour Analgesia in Primigravida Women |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr.P.Abirami, Assistant || Dr.K.P.Mohana Sundari || Dr.K.Murugalakshmi |
Abstract: Objectives: To compare the efficacy of epidural analgesia with intramuscular tramadol for labour and to study the maternal and fetal outcomes. Methods: Comparative clinical study conducted in 100 primigravida women between the ages of 18 to 30 years, in the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, GMKMCH Salem from September 2014 to august 2015. Data analysed using student t test and chi square test. Results: The epidural group had lower pain score (VAS score) than tramadol group throughout labour. The mean VAS score at 15 minutes was 1.68 in epidural group and 6.92 in tramadol group........

Title | : | A Comparative Study between Proseal Laryngeal Mask Airway and Endotracheal Intubation Using Pressure Controlled Ventilation In Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Sunanda Bal || Chiranjit Bal || Sampa Dutta Gupta |
Abstract: Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) carries a risk of bronchospasm and hypoxaemia airway instrumentation. Use of laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is a safe alternative to endotracheal intubation in laparoscopic surgeries. Earlier studies noted that LMA can be used in providing pressure controlled ventilation (PCV). Aim was to evaluate and compare between ProSeal LMA (PLMA) and endotracheal intubation for maintaining adequate oxygenation, using PCV in COPD patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. 60 adult patients with COPD of ASA II, were randomized into two groups to secure airway either using endotracheal tube (Group A) or ProSeal LMA (Group B)..............

Abstract: Background Febrile seizures (FS) are the most common type of seizures in childrenand iron deficiency anaemia is most common type of anaemia in children. The relationship between iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) and first FS has been examined in several studies with conflicting results. Patients and Methods In this prospective case-control study we assessed 84 children with a diagnosis of first FS, aged between 6 months and 5years who were admitted in department of paediatrics of SPMCHI, SMS Medical College JaipurRajasthan, during August 2006 to Oct..............

Title | : | A study of pulmonary function abnormalities in patients with Type 2 Diabetes mellitus |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. M. K. Surag || Dr.U.Sudhir |
Abstract: Pulmonary function abnormalities in Type 1 diabetes has been evaluated in various studies but the data regarding this is scanty in Type 2 diabetes. The aim of this study was to assess the presence of pulmonary function abnormalities in Type 2 diabetic patients and to find out the co-existence of this with retinal and renal involvement abnormalities. 32 diabetic patients were taken into the study. They were divided into 2 groups: Group1- patients with retinopathy and or nephropathy and Group2- patients without any complications. An advanced spirometry was done on all patients which included pulmonary diffusion capacity (DLCO) which was done by single breath method.............

Title | : | Mini Screws As Temporary Anchorage Device in Orthodontics: A Narrative Review |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Padmini M. N || Bharathi || Smitha || Rani Hamsa P.R |
Abstract: Anchorage plays an important role in orthodontics. Miniscrews as a temporary anchorage device have gained popularity because of its small size, ease of insertion and removal, low cost, immediate loading and ability to be inserted in different locations of the alveolar bone. The aim of this narrative review is to discuss the evolution, clinical applications, and risk factors advantages and disadvantages of using miniscrews implants.
