Abstract: A woman's reproductive history may affect her risk for coronary heart disease. Parity has been associated with increased coronary disease risk in some studies, while other studies have shown that nulliparous women are at increased risk (1-3). Pregnancy frequency (including frequency of spontaneous abortion (4, 5)) and age at first pregnancy (6) have also been associated with increased coronary disease risk. Although reports of associations of coronary disease risk with parity, age at menarche, or incidence of miscarriage are not all consistent (7, 8), the majority of cohort studies have shown an increased risk of coronary disease among women with high gravidity or parity (9).........

Abstract: Physicians are often facing the task of predicting the immediate and long-term outcome in stroke patients. Early predictor of mortality and poor outcome are crucial for planning the level of care and optimizing resource utilization. It is important efficiently and optimally to utilize resources. The use of early prognostic data provided by various scores in critically ill stroke patients remains unclear. The objective of the study was to determine validity of GCS for prediction of short-term mortality in acute stroke patients..........

Abstract: Cardiomyopathy is a primary disorder of the heart muscle that causes abnormal myocardial performance and is not the result of disease or dysfunction of other cardiac structures. Dilated cardiomyopathy is the most common variety of cardiomyopathy. Other types of cardiomyopathy are hypertrophic and restrictive cardiomyopathy. Dilated cardiomyopathy represents the final common pathway produced by a variety of ischaemic, toxic, metabolic and immunological mechanisms damaging the heart muscle. The incidence of DCM is reported to be 5 to 8 cases per 1,00,000 population per year..........

Abstract: There has been an increasing incidence of coronary artery disease in India and a greater Rise is expected in next few years. coronary artery disease in Indians has been found to be more severe and widespread
and have been found to be associated with serious complications and increasing mortality. Thus arises the
necessity of a tool which act as a risk predictor, can assess the severity and prognosis of acute coronary syndrome also has value in diagnosis and management. The concentration of CRP ( 3mg/dl to >200mg/dl ) at
which it is detectable in serum is not sensitive for the value required to determine the cardiovascular risk in otherwise healthy person...........

Abstract: Osteomas are the slow growing benign tumours of the lamellar bones. They are the most common benign neoplasm of nose and paranasal sinuses. But osteomas of the temporal bone are rare and that of the zygomatic process are very very rare. In this case, we present a 38 years old female patient with osteoma of the zygmatic process of the left temporal bone. The osteoma was excised under General anaesthesia and the excised specimen was send for histopathology examination. The report came out to be osteoid osteoma. In this article, we present the incidence and clinicopathological features of osteoma.

Abstract: Local flaps have been commonly used in the reconstruction of facial defects left after excision of primary tumours. The forehead flap (median and laterally based) can be used to close defects in the cheek and floor of the mouth, its pedicle can be used to close defects in the maxilla. In a seventh century Indian medical document, the Sushruta Samita, describes a technique of using a flap from the forehead for nasal restoration. The forehead flap is relatively simple in concept and technique. It is widely used for nasal reconstruction. The importance of this flap is due to its versatility . This flap has been described as the most robust and dependable flap. In addition, it has the advantage of having large arc of rotation...........

Abstract: T-prolymphocytic leukaemia (T-PLL) is a rare mature T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. It is seen more often in middle-aged and elderly individuals with a median age of onset of 65 years and a male predominance of 2:1. Patients present with hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, 15% may have serous effusions and approximately 20% have skin involvement. The white cell count is often above 200 x 109/l, and the tumour cells are CD3+, CD4+ or CD8+ (co-expression of CD4 and CD8 in 25%), CD7+, and are CD25-. The disease has an aggressive clinical course due its inherently chemoresistant nature, with a median survival of 7 months on conventional chemotherapy............

Abstract: RCT's has been recognised as the standard method for rationalising treatment outcomes in medical literature. However, many researchers are still unfamiliar with how to properly randomize the study, and it has been shown that there are limitations in studies due to inaccurate performance of the randomization, leading to errors in results, even though they published in indexed International journals. This review on randomization trials, help researchers to develop the skills for critically analysing RCT's in terms of methodology, magnitude and precision of treatment.

Abstract: Isolated gall bladder injury after blunt trauma abdomen is a rare entity. Its anatomical location allows it to be protected by the liver, intestines, the omentum, and ribs therefore isolated injury of gall bladder is a rare. Due to this the diagnosis is often made during an exploring laparotomy. There is high morbidity and mortality due to delayed diagnosis. Here we are reporting two cases of traumatic isolated gall bladder perforation in the emergency at the stage of peritonitis, then was diagnosed after laparotomy and managed by open total cholecystectomy...........

Abstract: Forestier's disease is a musculo-skeletal disorder characterized by diffuse exuberant hyperostosis in anterolateral faces of the vertebral bodies essentially affecting the anterior longitudinal ligament. It generally affects males over 50 years. It is often incidentally discovered on standard spine X rays. Even more rarely, it manifests by neck stiffness, pain or dysphagia. We present a case of a 70 years old patient with difficulty in swallowing solids for several months. Pharyngo-laryngoscopy revealed a bulging of the pharyngeal wall indicating an extrinsic compression. Abstract: Central haemangioma of the mandible and maxilla is extremely rare. Intraosseous haemangioma comprises less than one percent of all intraosseous tumours. Intraosseous vascular lesions of maxillofacial region are challenging to diagnose considering other jaw lesions. This article describes a case of central haemangioma of mandible with clinical, radiological and histological features which was treated with segmental resection of mandible............

Abstract: Background: Well motivated health professionals can be good role models for the communities. Detection of predisposing factors of diseases like hypertension, Diabetes, obesity, anemia etc. is vital in modification of life style diseases particularly in teenagers. Prevalence studies of risk factors of non-communicable diseases and other predisposing factors of ill health in medical students are very few. So the main aim of this study is to know the prevailing risk factorsandto educate the students about Preventive measures. Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted on 149 first year medical students at Gayatri Vidya Parishad Institute of Health Care and Medical Technology, Visakhapatnam, India..........

Abstract: Stress has been described as a disease of the 21st century. The current pilot research was an attempt to study the effect of Mindful Life Management, a Mindfulness Based Intervention on perceived stress among a group of healthy volunteers The 10 study participants were volunteers who enrolled for the 8 week MLM program. The main tools used for the study were a specially prepared semi-structured proforma for collecting the socio-demographic data, Mini Mental Status Examination (MMSE), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ). Each facets in FFMQ significantly varied in their mean score before and after MLM training and self- practice. Highest changes were observed in Non- Judgment and Awareness. A significant correlation was established in each facet and Five Face Mindfulness Questionnaire Score as a whole with Perceived Stress...........

Abstract: Aim: Snake envenomation is a major cause of death and disability in the developing countries, particularly in South East Asia. Since 1894, commercial snake venom antiserum developed by Calmette is the only specific treatment available for snake bite. The use of plants against the effects of snakes bite has been long recognized; more scientific attention has been given since last 20 years (Santosh et al., 2004). The folklore uses of Indian Medicinal Plant Alstonia scholaris Linn against snakebite treatment has been validated in the present study. Methods & Materials: Viper venom neutralizing activity neutralization with 200mg/kg bw aqueous extract of Alstonia scholaris Linn(AAS) was estimated by in vivo methods in animal models............
Key words: Aqueous Alstonia scholaris(AAS), Minimum edema dose(MED), minimum defrinogenating dose(MDD), minimum necrotizing dose(MND).
