Abstract: Background: Successful endodontic treatment requires complete elimination of micro-organisms from the root canal system. Porphyromonas gingivalis are the most predominant microorganisms recovered from teeth requiring retreatment. Sodium hypochlorite has been the most widely used irrigant. The constant increase in antibiotic resistant strains and side effects caused by synthetic drugs has prompted researchers to look for herbal alternatives , like Propolis in endodontic irrigation Aim To check the comparative evaluation of antimicrobial activity Of 3% Sodium Hypochlorite And Propolis Against Gram Negative bacteria Porphyromonas gingivalis..........

Abstract: Introduction: Cerebro-vascular diseases include some of the most common and devastating disorders after coronary heart disease (CHD) and cancer of all types. In normal individuals the platelet count is inversely proportional to MPV; platelet mass (the product of MPV and platelet count) is a near constant. There are evidence that platelet function is accentuated in acute ischaemic stroke. There have been only few studies which have demonstrated an association between platelet size and ischemic stroke. Among them, there have been discrepancy regarding the sample size, methodology used and the final result. So we have done the study to establish the correlation between MPV and stroke.............

Abstract: Background: Females have always been in a position to take a lead role in the health of a family. They play multiple roles like as a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother and a grandmother in their lives. As a mother, being a pivot in the family, she is considered to be the best teacher of the offspring. Such an important person in the society needs to be stress free and has a right to enjoy a good status of health. In the life of a female, the transition from childhood to adulthood occurs during the period of adolescence which extends between 10-19 years of age. Besides many others, onset of menarche is an important milestone in a woman's life and it denotes the beginning of the reproductive era of woman. Though a normal physiological process, feeling of anxiety and eagerness to know about this natural phenomenon develops among girls............

Abstract: Background: The impact of deformity correction on lung function in adolescent idiopathic thoracic scoliosis is not much studied. Addition of thoracoplasty to the posterior spinal fusion is thought to have significant negative influence on the pulmonary function. We did a prospective study to evaluate the effect of posterior instrumentation and fusion on lungs. Material and methods: Of 18 selected patients with posterior arthrodesis , thoracoplasty was also performed in nine patients. These patients were separately grouped to check any additional impact of thoracoplasty on lungs. Pulmonary function was evaluated by spirometry. Pre-operative and two year post-operative FVC,TLC and FEV1 values were collected and compared..............

Abstract: By eliminating or delaying the future needs for prosthodontic treatment, preventive prosthodontics has gained importance in recent times. Making an Overdenture is one such procedure by which the remaining teeth can be retained in the dentition. This, in addition to providing support and stability to the denture, also prevents the psychological trauma to the patients for being completely edentulous. The roots of the abutment teeth maintained in this process not only help in denture stability, but also provide proprioception, decrease alveolar bone resorption, and give better load transmission to the denture. An overdenture consists of a primary coping and a secondary coping...............

Abstract: Pulmonary involvement is a known manifestation of ankylosing spondylitis, emerging either as interstitial lung disease or as a consequence of chest wall abnormalities. Both of these conditions may lead to restrictive pulmonary function, typically presented as restrictive pattern in a pulmonary function test (spirometry). 50 patients of ankylosing spondylitis and 50 healthy individuals were recruited for the study. Pumonary function test showed that 15 (30%) patients of ankylosing spondylitis had pulmonary involvement. 11patients with restrictive ventilatory pattern and 4 with obstructive ventilatory pattern. A restrictive defect was manifested as a reduction of total lung capacity.............

Abstract: In this cross sectional study we did a clinicopathological analysis of a series of cases to find out the effective modality of management for different cases of pyogenic liver abscess. Brief history, clinical examination findings, laboratory investigations, treatment rendered and the outcome were recorded. The commonest presentation was right lobe solitary amoebic liver abscess in alcoholic males of low socioeconomic status. Various techniques to drain pus and appropriate drugs reduce the mortality were tried. Each case was managed as per its individual clinical status and merit – either only with drugs, or drugs plus percutaneous aspiration, percutaneous catheter drainage or open drainage.

Abstract: Odontoma isthe most common benigntumour comprising of about 22% of all odontogenic tumour. Debate still continues of it being a hamartomatous lesion or benign tumour. The most common site of its occurrence is anterior maxilla and posterior mandible. Odontoma in maxillary posterior region has been sparsely reported. Surgery is the treatment of choice with low recurrence rate. The present case report highlights the occurrence of this common tumour at an uncommon site which was managed surgically by an intraoral approach. A three year follow-up shows uneventful healing with complete resolution of lesion.

Abstract: Prehospital determinants of motorcycle related femoral fracture injury severity remain a poorly documented trauma entity in Uganda. Knowledge of most at risk of poor injury outcome in resource limited settings with no formal prehospital care system is not only mandatory for evidence based preventive policy formulation but also guidance of clinical practice. This cross sectional descriptive and analytical hospital based study determines prehospital factors associated with injury severity of motorcycle related femoral fractures at the accident and emergency departments of two university teaching hospitals in Uganda, using the Kampala Trauma Score II (KTSII). Ethical clearance was obtained from Mbarara University of Science and Technology Research and Ethics Committee (IRB No.19/10-16)...............
