Abstract: Pelvic assessment done by measuring the Obstetrical Conjugate Diameter by transabdominal Ultrasonography at term can provide additional information for assessing the Maternal Pelvis to the clinician and may be helpful in planning route of delivery. Method: Study population consisted of 150 pregnant women divided into four groups. Group one consists of those having OCD less than 10 cm, Group two consists of those with OCD 10-10.9 cm, Group three consists of those with OCD 11-11.9 cm and Group four consists of those with OCD more than or equal to 12 cm. Their modes of delivery were than recorded and data were analysed. Result: Caesarean section.........

Abstract: Introduction: Children suffer from behavioural and mental illnesses like autism, hyperkinetic disorders, learning disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, conduct disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders and psychosis. These children are very difficult to manage for both the doctors and family care givers. The care givers are prone to burden and psychological disorders due to the impact of caring them. In India there are less studies regarding the caregiver's suffering. Hence this study was chosen to explore these parameters in detail. Aim: To study the burden and coping.....

Abstract: Aim of the study was to assess and compare the effect of calcium sucrose phosphate and calcium casein phosphopeptide containing pastes on mineralization of artificially demineralized human enamel. The remineralizing ability of calcium sucrose phosphate and calcium casein phosphopeptide is under research.75 extracted premolar teeth were collected and a buccal window was exposed on the tooth sample by coating the rest of the teeth with nail varnish. The samples were artificially demineralized using Featherstone pH cycling technique. The medicaments were applied to the demineralized samples for 5 minutes, rinsed and then stored in de-ionized water for the next day. This.......

Abstract: Background: Provision of mother's breast milk to newborns within one hour of birth is referred to as 'Early Initiation of Breast feeding' (EIBF). It has benefits for the survival of children and beyond. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of EIBF among the post natal mothers in a teaching hospital of Kolkata and to find out the factors affecting EIBF among the post natal mothers. Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 171 mothers admitted in the postnatal ward of Medical College & Hospital (MCH), Kolkata from April 2018 to June..........

Abstract: Introduction -Juices are prepared by mechanical squeezing of the pulp of fresh fruits or vegetables without application of heat. Improper washing of fruits before cutting[16] , inadequate hygiene maintenance by the juice makers, purchase of fruits from open markets having polluted environment and swarming houseflies and fruit flies, storage of the fruits on dirty dust filled shelves at room temperature and not in refrigerators, use of improperly cleaned utensils[12] and tumblers for processing and serving respectively are some of the most important factors which support microbial contamination of the fruit juices. Aims and objectives - Evaluating the quality and microbiological safety of fresh fruit juices vended on various streets of Ranchi, Jharkhand. Materials and methods– Fresh..........

Abstract: Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major health burden and its incidence is increasing globally.Numerous publications have addressed the prognostic factors and long-term survival after liver resection for HCC, but most of these studies have included patients with and without cirrhosis. The aim of the present study is to identify predictive factors and survival outcome after liver resection for non-cirrhotic HCC. Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data between January 2011 and December 2015.Of the 76 patients who had liver resections for HCC, 30 patients had no underlying parenchymal liver disease (no cirrhosis or fibrosis) and these 30 patients were included in the study. Results: Out of 30 patients, 25 patients (83%) underwent major hepatectomy whereas only 5 patients (17%) underwent minor hepatectomy. The overall......

Abstract: Peritonitis presents most commonly due to localized or generalized infection caused from various factors. Despite advances in diagnosis, management and critical care of patients for patients with peritonitis due to hollow viscus perforation, yet there is lacunae in prognosis of the patient with peritonitis. Early assessment by scoring systems will influence the management and prognosis. A Prospective study was conducted on 80 patients admitted and operated for peritonitis in Maharajah's Medical College Hospital. A structured scoring system i.e. Acute Physiological and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE II) Score was administered along with other clinical..........

Dementia has substantial influence on the quality of life of the patients with dementia . Proper assessment of quality of life in these persons with dementia is important . Cornel Brown scale of dementia is widely used scale for assessment of quality of life in persons with dementia . Thus Bengali validation of this scale in Bengali is also very important for the persons with dementia who can understand only Bengali but not English . In this study the present study was planned with the following objectives of to validate the English version of Cornel Brown Scale in Bengali and to establish the reliability of the Bengali version of the Cornel Brown scale . Abstract: One of the be the commonest endocrine disorder of women of reproductive age with a heterogeneous presentation is Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which includes hyperandrogenism and ovulatory dysfunction. Thus, PCOS symptoms tend to overlap with normal pubertal changes.1 so, it is a disorder of significant health concern. This necessitates estimation of proportion of women are affected by PCOS . PCOS was defined by Rotterdam's criteria having presence of any two of the three features: • Oligo/amenorrhea: Absence of menstruation for 45 days.........

Abstract: Superior mesenteric artery syndrome is an entity generally caused by the loss of the intervening mesenteric fat pad, resulting in compression of the third portion of the duodenum by the superior mesenteric artery. It is a lifethreateningupper gastrointestinal disorder due to compression of duodenum as it poses a difficult diagnosticdilemma. Third part of duodenum is in fixed compartment bounded anteriorly by the root of mesentery and superiormesentery artery and posteriorly by the aorta and lumbar spine.
