Abstract: Introduction: A patient is more concern about his teeth and wants to preserve their teeth. Patient wants to preserve teeth by latest treatment option and method available. There are so many treatments available but our treatment option based on the clinical condition, an age of the patient, economical condition of the patient. Hemisection of a compromised mandibular molar is a suitable treatment option. Sectioning of the molar teeth with the removal of an unrestorable root which may be affected by periodontal, endodontic, crack root or caries is called hemisection. Case report: This article describes three cases in which the severely decayed molars are preserved by hemisection and can be used.........

Abstract: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and morbid complication on after severe burn and it is accompanied by a high mortality rate. AKI occurs in approximately one quarter to one third of patient in major burn injury.Burn related kidney injury is typically classified as early (0-3 days after injury) or late (4-14 days after injury). Early burn AKI is typically due to Hypovolemia , poor renal function and direct cardiac suppression while late –onset renal failure is usuaaly the consequence of sepsis and is often associated with other organ failure. Of burn patients who survive AKI, the vast majority do not receive long term Hemodialysis and lead to end stage renal disease.............

Abstract: Background: Normal menstrual bleeding occurs from secretory endometrium after ovulation, for a period less than 5 days. Any bleeding not complying with this is considered as abnormal uterine bleeding. Materials and methods: This is an observational study done at a Tertiary Care Center in South Tamil Nadu, in the Department of Pathology from August 2017 to January 2019, over a period of 18months. A total of 134 specimen of endometrial biopsies received, were included in the study. Aims and objectives: This study was conducted to learn the different histomorphological pattern of endometrial biopsies in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding and to find the incidence of carcinoma endometrium in our Government Tertiary Care Center. Later to evaluate the role of histopathological examination in predicting the cause on comparison with ultrasound examination....... ..

Abstract: Dental Caries remains a major threat because food habits, lifestyle and mother's knowledge play a vital role in caries occurrence. This study is conducted to correlate the association of dental caries with BMI, nutritional status and mother's knowledge about oral hygiene status of children. Study was conducted among 519 children of 6 to 14 years in Namakkal district. Dental caries in both primary and permanent dentition, BMI, sociodemographic factors, were calibrated and mother's knowledge regarding the oral hygiene of children was assessed by 20 questionnaire & data statistically evaluated. Results have shown that there was a positive correlation between DMFT with age (p=0.0000) and no association of dental caries with BMI [dmft vs BMI (p=0.527), DMFT vs BMI (P=0.956)] and nutritional status [ dmft vs nutritional status (p=0.189), DMFT vs nutritional status (p=0.977)]. Results of this study do not support an association of dental caries with BMI and nutritional status

Abstract: Malignancies and infections are associated with oxidant – antioxidant imbalance. The plymorphonuclear leukocytes generate huge amount of reactive oxygen species. The end product Malondialdehyde generated is responsible for the damaging effects on DNA and cell membrane. This study was undertaken to assess the oxidative stress using nitroblue tetrazolium scores and malondialdehyde levels, and to assess antioxidation by vitamin C levels in patients with sepsis and non-hematological malignancies. Nitroblue Tetrazoleum(NBT) reduction test, serum Malondialdehyde(MDA) and vitamin C levels were estimated among 30 healthy persons,30 septic cases,30 malignant cases and 30 with both sepsis and malignant cases. All three parameters of all four groups were compared.............

Abstract: Background: Leiomyoma of the uterus is a benign tumor, essentially composed of smooth muscle tissue and varying amount of fibrous connective tissue. It is commonly found in uterus but can occur in oesophagus, bladder and intestines also. It is a monoclonal tumor. It is the most common tumor of uterus and is found in 20% of women in reproductive age group. Symptomatic fibroids have become so common and are the leading cause for 60% of hysterectomies performed. Despite being so common, the causative factors for fibroid remain obscure. Much research is being carried out on the causative factors for fibroids. It has been found out that genetic factors and hormonal factors along with certain environmental factors are implicated in causation of fibroids..............

Abstract: Oxidative stress (OS) and lipid peroxidation has been associated in the development of diabetic complications including diabetic foot ulcer. In this study, the levels of lipid peroxides (LPO), catalase and lipid profile as well as the enzymatic antioxidant activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in type 2 diabetes mellitus and diabetic foot ulcer subjects were assessed and compared with apparently healthy normal subjects to understand the involvement of OS in the subjects. It was found that level of mean TC, TC and LDL had decreased in type 2 DM with foot ulcer, type2 DM without foot ulcer, non-diabetic foot ulcer and healthy control respectively and this difference was statistically significant. Level of mean HDL had significantly lower in type 2 DM with foot ulcer.Mean lipid peroxidase level had significantly higher in type2 DM with foot ulcer and non-diabetic foot ulcer (p<0.0001). Mean SOD level had significantly higher in type2 DM with foot ulcer.............

Abstract: Dengue is a global endemic and most prevalent human arbovirus disease. Recently, platelet indices have been assessed usefully in the diagnosis conditions with abnormal platelet counts. Present study aims to investigate and assess the role of platelet indices in patients with dengue fever in MIMS hospital. Platelet counts (PLT), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW) were measured. This study was conducted prospectively for a period of 9 months from March 2018 to December 2018. A total of 105 cases are taken into study. MPV and PLT were significantly lower in cases of dengue (P<0.0006). The PDW is significantly high in cases of dengue (P<0.039). Hence forth Low PLT, MPV and PDW may be used as probable indicators for dengue in endemic area. MPV <9 fl and PDW >13fl shows considerable sensitivity for dengue fever.

Abstract: Background: Cortical Venous Sinus Thrombosis (CVST) is known to be a cause of stroke especially in the young population. It has a multifactorial etiology with a varied presentation. Given the increasing burden of this disease and availability of magnetic resonance imaging for definitive diagnosis, a high level of clinical suspicion must be kept in mind while evaluating such patients. Materials and Methods:This study was a retrospective observational study conducted over a period of 1 year (1stAugust 2017 to 31st September 2018) in the medicine department of aTertiary care teaching and research center. 36 patients admitted with varying complaints and diagnosed to have CVST on magnetic resonance venography were included. Patients were treated according to standard protocols and guidelines. Results:Of the total of 36 patients, 31(86.11%) were males and 5(13.89%) were females. The average age of the patients was 35.28 ± 14.31 years, the maximum being in the age group of 21-30 years [10 patients (27.28%)]. 12 (33.33%) patients were farmers by occupation..............

Abstract: Appendicitis is the most common abdominal emergency worldwide. Out of many scoring systems, Alvarado scoring system showed good sensitivity and specificity when applied in a western population, several studies have shown its limitations when applied in an Asian population. As a result a new scoring system named Tzanakis score was developed. The aim of the study is to compare the sensitivity and specificity of Tzanakis score with Alvarado score in diagnosing acute appendicitis in Indian population. A total of 100 patients who fulfilled the eligibility criteria were studied. All the patients included in the present study were suspected of having acute appendicitis based on history and clinical examination. Patients were scored according to Alvarado as well as Tzanakis score at the time of admission. Decision to operate was usually made by the surgical team who were not a part of the research team.............
