Abstract:An interdisciplinary approach has often been utilized for esthetic rehabilitation of compromised dentitions. The loss of anterior teeth has serious functional and esthetic disabilities in addition to compromising the patient's quality of life. Chronic mouth breathing due to nasal adenoids is known to cause gingival and periodontal diseases. There is adequate dental literature which proves the association of nasal breathing, tongue thrusting and anterior open bite. This can then bring about change in arch shape and tooth position which are primarily determined by the equilibrium of the forces from tongue and perioral musculature. A comprehensive and systematic treatment plan.........

Abstract: Gamma Irradiation Chambers ( GIC ) or Blood Irradiators are being extensively used in various universities, academic and research institutions for research and development purposes. Ionizing radiation can modify the physical, chemical and biological properties of the irradiated materials. Gamma-ray emitters like cobalt-60 became popular radiation sources for medical and industrial applications. Gamma Irradiation Chambers are also used in hospitals and blood banks for irradiation of blood and blood products/components, for clinical and research purposes. Gamma radiation is broadly used for the sterilization of medical equipment, micronized amniotic membrane injectable..........

Abstract: Teaching and learning are active and continuous process. In the past decade, a number of developments appeared in medical education. With the advent of digitalized teaching methods, the most common teaching tool is PowerPoint Presentation. The present study, a cross-sectional questionnaire-base study, was conducted to evaluate the impact of chalkboard and PowerPoint teaching in 209 undergraduate medical students. This study has shown that blackboard teaching still remains the most preferred teaching aid by the students (71.77%) when compared to PPT teaching method (28.23%). However, the students preferred PowerPoint Presentation over traditional chalkboard, when parameters like understanding diagrams and charts (77.51%), demonstration..........

Abstract: An experiment contribution of cows and buffaloes milk in unorganized sectors in eastern Uttar Pradesh, general, and selected block of rural areas, in particular is not clear. About 50 percent of total bovine are underfed or overfed in rural areas mostly due to lack of scientific knowledge for feeding, breeding, management and veterinary problems. The present study was conducted during March 2002 to April 2004 in villages of selected blocks of Azamgarh District to assess the economic performance of buffaloes during different seasons in different categories of farmers. The choice of block was based on the state Department of District Azamgarh and BIAF Center are working for popularization and up lift of dairy animals in the locality, beside, extension training center is also located near the all blocks, which acts as a catalytic agent in promoting the development in entire block area.

Abstract: Patella fractures account for about 1% of all skeletal injuries and leads to functional impairment in the extensor mechanism of the knee1. Diagnosis is made on the basis of mechanism of injury, clinical examination and radiological findings. The goal is to restore extensor mechanism, articular congruity and early mobilization. Fracture with intact extensor mechanism can be treated conservatively, whereas the indication2 for the surgery.

Abstract: Aim-To know the prevalence of Hepatitis C among patients visiting Dental OPD at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna. Material and Method-A retrospective study was conducted in Dental OPD at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna. Data was collected from all the patients undergoing surgical treatment and from patients who had peviously been tested for hepatitis elsewhere Result -Mean age was 39.64 + 16.106 years 30% of the subject group were female while 70% were male. On basis of gender, 0 out of 15 females were positive while 2 out of 35 male patients were positive for hepatitis C positive. In our study, the prevalenceof hepatitis C was 4% which was statistically insignificant.

Abstract: Management of advanced peritonitis is a challenging task to deal with high morbidity and mortality. Advanced peritonitis patients present with diffuse purulent peritonitis with sepsis or septic shock. The septic shock and sepsis are the prime reasons for the high morbidity and mortality [11, 19]. Dietmar et al. predicted that the mortality rate in advanced peritonitis was between 34-93% (as per the APACHE II score) in 1990[8]. However, the actual mortality rate in developing countries varies from 45.45 to 58.3% in various series [20, 21]. A suitable management protocol is essential to treat these patients to reduce the mortality rate to < 20%, as is done in developed countries [1]. Objectives of the protocol should consist........

Abstract: Background: Despite advanced surgical techniques and treatment modalities, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) has been a global challenge because of the high rates of disease recurrence and its advanced stage at the time of diagnosis. The increase in morbidity and mortality of HNSCC even after definitive therapies has prompted substantial research efforts in the field of early detection and prevention of the disease by identifying tumor biomarker accuracy. Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (Her-2/neu) have been associated with advanced disease, metastasis, poor clinical outcome and survival in various carcinomas. Overexpression of Her-2/neu leads to increased basal tyrosine kinase activity and transform cells by persistently stimulating signal transduction pathway. Therefore, it is required to affirm the prognostic significance of Her-2/neu in HNSCC which might open new avenues in the treatment approaches. Aim and objectives: The..........

Abstract: The Siddha System of Medicine (Traditional Tamil System of medicine), which has been prevalent in the ancient Tamil land, is the foremost of all other medical systems in the world. Chirattaithailam is wound healing Siddha drug was tested for antifungal activity by using disc diffusion method. Test organisms were Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Aspergillus fumigatus and Aspergillus niger. Drug was taken in three different doses 20μl, 5μl, 1μl. Significant antifungal effect was noticed at the dose of 20μl and 5μl.

Abstract: Management of difficult airway is widely recognized as one of the serious challenges of the anesthesiologists. The complications related to it are known to be life threatening. One of the difficult airway scenario is fused cervical and atlanto occipital joints. Awake fibreoptic intubation remains the gold standard for such situations. Herewith, we present such a case where we faced difficulty in doing awake fibreoptic bronchoscope because of fixed c-spine and lateral head tilt due to skeletal tuberculosis and overgrowth of pharyngeal soft tissue. We were able to successfully intubate the patient after changing the position of anesthetist from behind the head of..........

Abstract: Hypertension is considered to be one of the leading causes of morbidity globally. Hypertension increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, renal failure, and peripheral arterial disease(PAD). Ankle brachial index (ABI) is a simple and non-invasive tool to assess the peripheral artery disease. It indicates the presence of atherosclerosis in the peripheral blood vessel. There were a total of 198 patients enrolled in this study. Prevalence of asymptomatic PAD was found to be 47%. There was an inverse correlation between ABI and age, BMI, duration of hypertension, Systolic Blood Pressure(SBP),Diastolic Blood Pressure(DBP) and Pulse Pressure(PP). It would be beneficial to include Ankle Brachial index as a routine in primary care set up as it is safe, easy and patient friendly. Measuring ABI may significantly reduce the future cardiovascular events in hypertensive patients.
