Abstract: A Traumatic dental injury varies widely in its etiology and pattern across different demographic regions and societies. Gaining popularity of active life styles increase the risk of sustaining traumatic dental injuries in all age groups. This increase in risk, combined with the lack of awareness among the society about emergency management and sequelae of traumatic dental injuries, often compromises the prognosis of treating such injuries. The etiology and pattern of traumatic dental injuries sustained during the primary and mixed dentition period among the patients reporting to Government Dental College, Kottayam were evaluated retrospectively in this study. Data.........

Abstract: Background: Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), which was previously called as Retrolental Fibroplasia (RFL), is a vaso-proliferative disorder of the retina. Preterm low birth weight infants are more prone for this disease those are exposed to large amount of Oxygen. Objectives: To study the incidence of ROP in preterm infants with a gestational age of ≤ 32 weeks or a birth weight of less than 1500 grams admitted to NICU for a period of 1 year. To identify the risk factor which could influence the development of ROP. Methods: This was a prospective observational study, conducted at NICU, Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati, from 1st July 2017 to 30thJune 2018.........

Abstract: Background: Pregnancy related acute kidney injury (PRAKI) is a heterogenous obstetric complication, which can occur at any stage during pregnancy and in postpartumperiod. It often impacts negatively on foetaloutcomes. Objective: To determine impact of PRAKI on foetal outcomes at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Nairobi. Methods: We carried out a descriptive study on women with viable pregnancies, gestation age equal to, or above 28 weeks and postpartum women within six weeks after delivery admitted in labour ward or the post-natal wards at KNH. The study started afterit was approved by the KNH- University of Nairobi Ethics and Research Committee.Patient management was at the discretion of attending clinician.Data was obtained fromthe participants and their.........

Abstract:Obesity and overweight are known to be harmful to health.Several researchers in the past have reported the association of obesity, hypertensionwith ABO blood groups with controversial results. Studies considering an association betweenABO,Rh blood groups with obesity are not adequate particularly in eastern India. Therefore, the present study is aimed to evaluate the relationship of BMI with ABO & Rh blood group. 200 medical students between 18 and 23 years werechosen for the study. Their blood group and BMI were determined. Results were analyzed by using Graph pad prism 5, comparison was done using independent group t test. Result did not showany significant association of blood group with BMI

Abstract: Objectives: Clinical evaluation and identification ofaetiology of asymptomatic raised serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) level in newly detected adult diabetic and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) patients. Methods: In this crosse-sectional study, newlydetected adult diabetic and IGT patients having asymptomatic raised serum ALT level of >1.5 times of upper limit of normal were evaluated clinically and by laboratory tests. Results: Total number of patients was 120, whichwas 3.1% of all newly registered diabetic and IGT patients over the study period. Male were 74 and female 46. Diabetes mellitus(DM) was found in 93.3% cases and IGT in 6.7%. Mean age was 43.1.......

Abstract: Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is defined as decreased glomerular filtration rate, raised urinary albumin excretion or both. CKD poses as a significant public health problem.Acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) imaging is a recently developed, non-invasive technique to quantitatively assess the mechanical stiffness properties of any organ tissue. Material & Methods: A total of 200 patients underwent renal biopsy. ARFI readings with resistive index, cortical thickness and renal length were measured by two radiologists prior to biopsy. The biopsy specimen was processed and graded as per.........

Abstract: The most common developmental odontogenic cyst of oral cavity is dentigerous cyst, otherwise it is called as follicular cyst. In 1853 Pagets was first one to introduce a term dentigerous cyst. It is nothing but fluid collection between unerupted tooth and follicular space. Usually it is an incidental finding. Sometimes it may be large and pain full, most of the time it is asymptomatic. Very rare in deciduous dentition, common in permanent dentition. Common finding in mandible about 70%, and 30% occurs in maxilla. Commonly involved impacted teeth are third molar, canine, 2nd premolar. The present case report is about a girl child patient aged 11 years with facial asymmetry . Clinical........

Abstract: The objectives of the present study was to evaluate cytomorphology of prostatic lesions on fine needle aspiration (FNA) smears, & to correlate between the cytomorphology by FNA and histological examination of the core needle biopsy & resected prostatic tissue. This study was conducted on 125 patients from the general surgery and urosurgery departments. Male patients with clinical or radiological diagnosis of prostatomegaly and patients with biochemical assay findings were selected for the study. FNA smears using Franzén guide cannula, were made & stained with May Grünwald Giemsa and Papanicolaou stains. Postoperative tissue specimen obtained were formalin fixed, processed, sectioned and stained with Haematoxylin & Eosin. Of the 125 cases, non-malignant cases.......

Abstract: Introduction: Maternal mortality and morbidity continue to be high in developing countries despite the existence of national programs for improving maternal and child health. This could be due to non-utilization or under-utilization of services. Objectives: 1) To assess the utilization of various antenatal care services among women in Urban field practice area.2)To study the factors influencing the utilization of antenatal care services.Methodology: A community-based cross-sectional study was done among 100 postnatal women who have delivered in past one year and residing in urban field practice area, Visakhapatnam fromMay to June 2019.Simple random.......

Abstract: Periodontal regeneration refers to healing after periodontal surgery that result in the restoration of the lost periodontium and attachment apparatus including cementum, alveolar bone and periodontal ligament. Although, regenerative techniques have been available for several years, and some have shown promising results, none of the techniques are without problems and none have proven to be 100% effective. Stem cells are the latest entrant in periodontal regeneration. Amongst which, Dental Mesenchymal Stem Cells are currently the focus of research as these.....

Abstract: Amblyopia is decreased vision consequent to abnormal visual experience like strabismus, stimulus deprivation or anisometropia leading to physiological alterations in visual cortex. In infants and children it has been successfully treated by occlusion. But, in adults it is still regarded has untreatable. Our aim is to study the effects of perceptual learning in treating amblyopia through home based spectacle mounted synoptophore (SMS). Methods: Spectacle based synoptophore was designed with locally available "bio-scope" toys mounted on a trial frame, fitted with LED lights for alternate flashing and sound producing chip. 10 amblyopic patients aged from 10- 40 years were given.......
