Abstract: Introduction: Hysterectomy is the most common gynecological surgery performed in the peri-menopausal and post-menopausal women all over the world. The commonest pathologies in such hysterectomies are uterine fibroids. Many times hysterectomiesare also performed for dysfunctional uterine bleedingin which leiomyoma's are commonly noted. So in the present study such hysterectomy specimens are grossed and sections studied to detect the coexisting endometrial and cervical pathologies. Aim of the Study: The present study intends to study histopatholgical features of endometrium and cervix in hysterectomy specimens with fibroid uterus.......

Abstract: Intestinal obstruction remains one of the most common intra-abdominal problems faced by general surgeons. Intestinal obstruction of either the small or large bowel continues to be a major cause of morbidity and mortality. As acute small intestinal obstruction is a surgical emergency and it is fatal in many cases, it is necessary to know and analyse its aetiologies, clinical parameters and its treatment outcomes. Hence, the present study was taken up to analyse and assess the outcome of small intestinal obstruction in patients in deparment of general surgery between 1st August 2017 to 31st July 2019.A total of 157 patients were included in the studywith a mean age of 49±15 years. The most common presenting symptom was obstipation (97.5%), followed by abdominal pain (83.4%), distension.......

Abstract: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) can be the easiest or the most difficult laparoscopic operation. Conversion to open surgery has been a traditional marker of difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy and anticipation of conversion can help in consenting patients and preparing them for longer stay and complications. In adopting laparoscopic cholecystectomy it must be realized that the need for conversion to open operation is 15–25% (5 times the conversion rate for chronic cholecystitis). The high conversion rate from laparoscopic to open surgery provoked an interest in studying the predictive factors for successful completion (without conversion to open surgery) of the early laparoscopic

Abstract: Background:Meckel syndrome (MKS), also known as dysencephaliasplanchnocystica, Gruber syndrome, or Meckel-Gruber syndrome, is a lethal, autosomal recessive disorder characterized by occipital encephalocele, bilateral renal cystic dysplasia, hepatic ductal proliferation, fibrosis and cysts, and polydactyly. The worldwide incidence of the disease varies from 1/13,250 to 1/140,000 live births, but in Finland, there is a prevalence of 1/9,000 births [1]. It can be associated with many other conditions. Antenatal ultrasound examination can establish the correct diagnosis by identifying at least two of the major features described. Here we describe an antenatal presentation of MKS in our diagnostic center. Ultrasonography and necropsy correlation for better specificity of the case report findings

Abstract: Background: Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is the one of the most common bacterial infection seen in females especially in the reproductive age group. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of symptoms and the risk factors of UTI among unmarried female medical and dental students of Anjarakandy Integrated Campus. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted in Anjarakandy Integrated Campus among Medical and Dental students .A total of 150 unmarried female medical and dental were included in the study. A self-structured, self-administrated questionnaire in English language was used to collect data which was then entered in Microsoft excel and analyzed using SPSS18. Abstract: Fibroma is the most common benign soft tissue neoplasm occurring in the oral cavity. Most of these lesions are intact hyperplasia or reactive proliferation of fibrous tissue. It develops due to chronic irritation to plaque, calculus, restorative, prosthetic or orthodontic appliances. The aim of this case report is to describe a case of traumatic fibroma in a 64 year old female patient in relation to hard palate of oral cavity. Patient was old denture wearersince 8 yearswhereas maxillary denture was fabricated with suction disk. Clinically the diagnosis of traumatic fibroma secondary to suction disk was rendered. Surgical excision was done followed by histopathological confirmation with emphasis on clinical aspect and as a dental practitioner, it is our responsibility to stop the dental quackery practice and educate the patient about the ill effects of dental quackery on their oral health.

Abstract: Introduction: Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is the commonest congenital cyanotic heart disease in children affecting 3 out of 10000 live birth (7-8% of all congenital cardiac diseases). Intracardiac repair is performed before one year of age but in India we still get adult patients with TOF. Materials and Methods: From January 2012- December 2018, 27 adults had repair of TOF in our institutute. We excluded double outlet right ventricle (DORV), TOF with pulmonary atresia, TOF with atrioventricular septal defect and other complex anomalies. Follow up was upto 1 year. Results: Mean hospital stay was 10.84 ± 4.08 days. 4 patients (14.81%) had re-exploration, 5 patients (18.51%) had pleural effusion, 7 patients (25.92%) had right ventricular dysfunction.......

Abstract: Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an important pathogen commonly implicated in serious nosocomial infections such as pneumonia and sepsis. The occurrence of multidrug-resistant P. aeruginosa strains is increasing worldwide and limiting our therapeutic options. The worldwide emergence of multi-drug resistant bacterial strains in hospitals and community continues to be a problem of due scientific concern, especially infections caused by Pseudomonas species and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in particular. P. aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen with inherent resistance to many antibiotics and disinfectants including anti-pseudomonal Penicillins, Ceftazidime, Carbapenems, Aminoglycosides and Ciprofloxacin. Materials and Methods: This Prospective observational study was conducted in Microbiology Department NIMS medical college Jaipur Rajasthan from July 2018 to December.........

Abstract: Background: Anemia in children with Lower tract respiratory infection (LRTI) is a common phenomenon that have crucial role on outcome and quality of life. Proving the observation in our country context, the present study was designed to evaluate the role of anemia as a risk factor among children <5 years along with LRTI. Methods: The case-control study was conducted among 59 childrenaged <6 years and were admitted in Dhaka Sishu Hospital for the period of June 2019 to November 2019. They study population was divided into two groups where case was defined as- children with LRTI and controls were apparently healthy children. Age and sex matched were done. The study protocol conformed to the ethical guideline of the current Declaration of Helsinki and was approved by local ethics committee. All parents gave consent before participation. Data analysis was done by Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 22.0........
