Abstract: Introduction: Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia is a common manifestation among the newborns. Most of the neonates (50% of full term and 80% of preterm) develop it on account of increased production of the bilirubin among other reasons. There are many studies suggesting that administering oxytocin to induce labour caused neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Objective: To compare the incidence of hyperbilirubinemia in neonates born to mothers with and without oxytocin augmentation during labour. Materials and Methods: 100 Patients were....

Abstract: Prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has increased beyond the proposed value in India as the Indian population is particularly vulnerable to the disease due to its genotype and changing lifestyle. Incidence is also rapidly growing in young individuals. Hence, it is very necessary to screen population to recognize Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients earlier to prevent associated complications. Aim of this study was to assess the risk score of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in B. Sc. nursing students of RIMS, Ranchi, Jharkhand who are of young age group and to counsel the subjects of high and medium risk group to take care of the modifiable risk factors like obesity and sedentary life style. Assessment of Indian Diabetes Risk Score (IDRS) in B. Sc. Nursing students of RIMS, Ranchi and comparison of IDRS among different groups were the two objectives of this study. It was a cross sectional

Abstract: Background The use of drains in thyroid surgery is a common practice among surgeons, which is substantiated by the possibility of post-surgical hemorrhage. Thyroid being a highly vascular gland, any small hemorrhage can lead to serious life-threatening complications including venous edema of the airway, seroma and hematoma formation, which if detected early enough requires emergency decompression, in the absence of which may lead to fatal consequences. Use of drain prolongs the length of hospitalization and increases the rate of infection[5,6,8,11–14.....

Abstract: Prosthetically driven implant surgery has been a subject of great interest to the dental profession. Correct implant positioning forms the basis for the long term success of dental implants to a large extent, such as favourable esthetic and prosthetic outcomes, long-term stability of peri-implant hard and soft tissues and the potential to ensure optimal occlusion . With the development of three dimentional imaging systems and softwaresallowing virtual implant placement have improved the precision of implant procedures.

Abstract: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) poses a great challenge to the anesthetist where airway is difficult. Various positioning during surgery can also be very demanding where even slight manipulation of rigid yet brittle spine can lead to drastic consequences of iatrogenic fractures and spinal cord trauma. I present a case of AS for corrective osteotomy in prone position performed under general anaesthesia successfully. Although airway is always anticipated to be difficult , difficulty in positioning of the patient was faced

Abstract: Traumatic diaphragmatic hernia (TDH) is an uncommon surgical problem, and diagnosis is often delayed. However, the mortality from bowel necrosis can reach 80%. Therefore, suspicion is needed and surgery is required to prevent complications. A 55-year-old female was transferred due to abdominal pain and vomiting. computed tomography (CT) scan showed herniation of the stomach through the right diaphragm. The patient had a history f trauma with the horn of the cow and there after she had fallen down months ago. At that time patient showed to the local doctor , got me antispasmodics and was relieved with in 4-5 days. We diagnosed ayed herniation of TDH and the patient underwent laparoscopic....

Abstract:Nasopharyngeal airway is an airway conduit to relieve the upper airway obstruction. It can be easily inserted in the nasal cavity and can be tolerated by an awake , comatosed or lightly anaesthesised patient. Oropharyngeal surgeries often pose difficult scenarios, both at the time of intubation as well as extubation. We report a case where nasopharyngeal airway was used orally to relive the airway obstruction.

Abstract: Background: Resistant hypertension is defined as blood pressure that remains uncontrolled in spite of concurrent use of three antihypertensives of different classes. The true prevalence of resistant hypertension is not known, studies suggest it includes approximately 10–15% of the general hypertensive population. Resistant hypertension is associated with increased mortality and only few studies are available on resistant hypertension from India. Objectives: To study the demographic factors, clinical profile and comorbidities among patients with resistant hypertension in a tertiary care centre in north Kerala. Methods: An observational study was conducted......

Abstract: Preeclampsia is apregnancy disorder associated with severe maternal, fetal and neonatal complications. It is characterized by increased blood pressure, proteinuria, increased peripheral vascular resistance and reduced organ perfusion.1Incidence of preeclampsia in India is around 10%.2 It is diagnosed as BP of ≥140 mmHg systolic or ≥90 mmHg diastolic on two occasions atleast 4 hours apart after 20 weeks of gestation in a woman with previously normal blood pressure and proteinuria; in absence of proteinuria, new onset of hypertension with other multisystem symptoms.3A case-control study was conducted in Dept. of Biochemistry in collaboration with Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology, RIMS, Imphal (Manipur) from September 2016 to August 2018. Abstract: This descriptive and analytical study was conducted at Jeddah hospital in Jeddah in the period from January 2019 to April 2019, to evaluate brain tumors using computed tomography (CT) scan. The study was done by collecting 30 patients (male and female) with different ages (20 -80) years old with suspected brain tumors. From our results, we found that the most affected age group was (40 to 60 years old) represented the highest percentage 43.3% while the age group (60 to 80 years old) represented the lowest percentage 26.7%. The male patients affected more than female patients with percentage (60%) and (40%) respectively, the non-malignant tumors represented the highest percentage of 60%. According to malignant classification, 91.7% were primary type; with only 8.3% from malignant cases is secondary type. Headache is the highest associated symptoms with cases 42.11%, followed by interpreting language with 21.05%. Finally, we found: meningioma represented 66.7% in CT findings which is the highest findings among males and females.

Abstract: Background: Recent therapeutic advances in ischemic stroke have changed patient care. Indeed, the advent of thrombolysis completely changed the management of patients with ischemic stroke; however, this therapeutic possibility can only be considered if the patient arrives within a very short time, not exceeding 4 hours 30 minutes, and in the absence of contraindications. The low rate of thrombolysis performed by the Neuro-vascular unit of Bab El Oued University Hospital Algiers and the particularly long arrival time of patients noted at the beginning of our experience, prompted us to systematically seek the causes of late arrival and the different contraindications noted in our patients....
