Abstract: This study was conducted to verify the effect of low-intensity and low-frequency electric current using a bipolar symmetrical square waveform on cutaneous wounds in rats. The experiment used 3 groups of animals, all with a surgical wound measuring 8 mm in diameter on the back, being a control group, a second group treated with a current intensity of 30 μA (G30) and a third group treated with a current intensity of 160 μA (G160), for 30 minutes, immediately......

Abstract: Gingival hyperplasia or, gingival enlargement has become an increasing concern due to a number of factors prevalence whether it be an inflammatory enlargement or a drug induced enlargement; hyperplasia associated with conditions like pregnancy, puberty, vitamin C deficiency or systemic diseases like leukaemia, sarcoidosis and Wegener granulomatosis; whether it be a neoplasm addressed as "gingival tumours" or a false gingival hyperplasia. All these entities and conditions seriously impose a massive effect on the gingival tissue. Drug induced gingival......

Abstract: Malaria remains a global health concern, with artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) serving as the gold standard for treatment. However, increasing reports of ACT resistance and treatment failure necessitate a reassessment of chloroquine, once the cornerstone of malaria management. This review explores the pharmacological arguments for and against the reintroduction of chloroquine, focusing on effectiveness, safety, pharmacoeconomic, patient compliance, availability, and acceptance. The objective is to determine whether the case against chloroquine is sufficient to discredit its use entirely or whether it merits reconsideration as an alternative therapy in regions where ACT resistance is on the rise.....

Abstract: Background: COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, remains a global health crisis with limited therapeutic options. Despite the availability of vaccines, the rapid evolution of viral variants necessitates the exploration of alternative treatments. Drug repositioning, the use of existing medications for new therapeutic indications, offers a promising approach. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine, sertraline, and escitalopram have shown potential antiviral properties due to their immunomodulatory effects. This study investigates the impact of these SSRIs on SARS-CoV-2-induced cytopathic effects (CPE) in Vero cells. Materials and Methods: Vero cells were cultured and treated with varying concentrations of fluoxetine, sertraline, and escitalopram......

Abstract: Ensuring proper anterior guidance presents a significant challenge for clinicians when planning restorative treatments. Accurate anterior guidance is crucial for optimal function, aesthetics, comfort, and phonetics. The posterior teeth's collapse leads to both the loss of the normal occlusal plan. This case report outlines a 46-year-old female who experienced anterior guidance loss, severe dentition wear. The vertical height was maintained by molar teeth in left posterior region. Loss of anterior teeth was accurately re-established with the help of customized incisal guidance table. The accurately recorded anterior guidance from the provisional restorations was transferred to the customized incisal guide table, and permanent restorations were then fabricated based on this guidance.
