Title | : | Surgical Excision Of Premalignant Lesion Oral Leukoplakia Followed By Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) Membrane Grafting – A Study Of 10 Cases. |
Country | : | |
Authors | : | Vatsal Ramwala || Lajja Jha |
Abstract: Oral Leukoplakia is a premalignant lesion, which can convert to oral squamous cell carcinoma if untreated. Tobacco smoking is the most common aetiology of oral leukoplakia. Various medicinal treatment options have emerged to treat the oral leukoplakia, yet surgical treatment remains more result oriented. Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) membranes are widely used in periodontics because of their property to populate specifically the cells of regeneration. We have studied the surgical excision of leukoplakia and effects of GTR membrane grafting.

Authors | : | Th. Bihari Singh || Senilo Magh || Andreecia Mn Mawiong || Kemhieneinuo Linyu |
Abstract: The association between depression and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is well established and is suggested to be bidirectional. Depression is common, persistent and associated with worse health related quality of life, recurrent events and mortality. Numerous clinical and epidemiological studies investigating the association of depression and CVD have suggested that depression independently increases the risk of CVD 1.5-fold on average, and that patients with coronary artery disease and depression have a two- to threefold......

Abstract: The relief of pain during surgery is the raison de tre of anaesthesia.Now from the intraoperative relief of pain, anaesthesiologist's work has extended on to postoperative pain relief,relief of chronic pain and cancer pain. The above purpose is achieved by means of the use of different combination of drugs administered through various routes. Among the regional anaesthetic techniques spinal anaesthesia has a special place as it is a very simple procedure to perform and it is a more definite procedure and has a high success rate. In the recent past from alleviating pain intraoperatively it has extended its analgesic effect in the postoperative period also.

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr Rajesh Rathnam || Dr Santha arulmozhi |
Abstract: Although much effort rightly has been placed on providing adequate pain relief after surgery, many physicians continue to view Post operative nausea and vomiting as a minor complication that posses little threat to the patient. In contrast many patients view post operative nausea and vomiting as more debilitating then the surgery itself. This complication is not only unpleasant and aesthetically displeasing to patients and their care givers, but, when severe, may also be associated with stress on suture lines, wound dehiscence, bleeding, electrolyte imbalance, dehydration and on rare occasions pulmonary aspiration of gastric contents.....

Authors | : | 1Prabal Roy || Vidushi Bangia || Saurabh Srivastav || Ankit Singh || Hemant Kumar || Amal Pushp |
Abstract: Introduction: Use of mesh has shown to considerably reduce recurrence rates for hernia repair and the subsequent improvement in clinical outcomes. Focus has now been placed on quality-of-life outcomes in patients undergoing these repairs. The Carolinas Comfort Scale (CCS) quality-of-life (QOL) survey is used in our study pertaining specifically to patients undergoing laparoscopic mesh hernioplasty. Our goal was to assess if CCS can be used for assessment of QOL for inguinal hernia repair and to assess the rate of long term inguinal discomfort following repair............

Abstract: Gout is a metabolic disorder caused by deposition of monosodium urate crystals within the joints. Periarticular nodules can prove to be a challenge to both clinicians and diagnosticians; various causes include rheumatoid nodules, ganglion cysts, pigmented villonodular synovitis, synovial chondromatosis and synovial sarcoma. Gouty tophus is an important differential diagnosis and its diagnosis can be difficult in cases of atypical presentation in the absence of arthritis and /or hyperuricemia.We present a case in which diagnosis of gout was made by fine needle aspiration of tophus from nodules which is efficient method of making a quick diagnosis with characteristic cytological features.

Abstract: The effect of orthodontic treatment on the dental pulp are of particular concern to the orthodontist. Alteration to pulpal physiology are may result in altered responses to external stimuli. Several studies have evaluated the impact of orthodontic force on dental pulp, however they reported results in the literature are inconsistent and inconclusive, mostly due to methodological limitations. One of few studies of human pulpal tissue obtain from teeth subjected to orthodontic force suggests that pulpal respiration rates are on average....
