Country | : | India |
Authors | : | DrRayees Ahmad || Dr Sherry Mathews || Dr N Satyanarayana |
Abstract: Spinal anaesthesia is the most preferred regional anaesthesia technique as it is easy to perform, economical and produces rapid onset of anaesthesia and complete muscle relaxation. . Fentanyl, a lipophilic opioid agonist , is used as an adjuvant, which prolongs the duration of spinal block .Dexmedetomidine, an α–2 agonist drug, when given intrathecally, significantly prolongs the duration of spinal block. Therefore, the present study was performed to compare Fentanyl and Dexmedetomidine in their efficacy as adjuvants to sub arachnoid block......

Abstract: Sturge-Weber syndrome is an embryonal developmental anomaly resulting from errors in mesodermal and ectodermal development. It is caused by a somatic activating mutation occurring in the Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G (q) subunit alpha gene and characterized by vascular malformations present in the skin (port wine stain), eye, and meninges (leptomeningeal angioma).Neuroimaging can provide sufficient information that can guide radiological diagnosis of related brain abnormalities or to differentiate it from other similar types of brain abnormalities.............

Title | : | Lower Gastrointestinal Haemorrhage |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Professor KL Sampath Kumar |
Abstract: Lower gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB) is a frequent cause of hospital admissions and is a factor in hospital mortality and morbidity. Lower gastrointestinal bleeding is a distinct entity and differs from upper gastrointestinal bleeding in epidemiology, management and prognosis. LGIB accounts for approximately 20 to 33% of all episodes of gastrointestinal haemorrhage. Though it is statistically less common than Upper gastro intestinal bleeding, it has been suggested that LGIB is underreported because most of the patients do not seek medical attention (1).

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Ranendra Hajong || Arup J Baruah || Debobratta Hajong || Narang Naku || Girish Sharma |
Abstract: Context: Cholecystectomy is the most commonly performed operation by general surgeons worldwide and the lesser invasive technique i.e. the laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the preferred operative technique both for the patient as well as for the surgeon. Conventionally laparoscopic cholecystectomy is performed by using three or four ports of various sizes. As cosmesis is an important aspect of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the trend is now towards use of lesser ports thereby resulting in better cosmesis for patients......
