Title | : | Ellis-Van Creveld Syndrome With Hypospadias And Undescended Testis: A Rare Case Report in An Indian Paediatric Patient |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Shashank Shekhar || Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh |
Abstract: Ellis-van Creveld syndrome (EVCS) is also known as chondroectodermal dysplasia or mesoectodermal dysplasia, is a rare autosomal recessive disorder, caused by mutations in the EVC(EVC1) and EVC2 gene (4p16), mapped to the short arm of chromosome 4.1 The disorder was described by Richard WB Ellis (1902–1966) of Edinburgh and Simon van Creveld (1895–1971) of Amsterdam.2 EVCS presents with the characteristic tetrad of: (1) Disproportionate dwarfism with short limbs and exceptionally long trunk, (2) bilateral postaxial polydactyly of the hands, (3) dystrophic nails,.................

Title | : | A rare case of Isolated Urinary Bladder Endometriosis managed by transurethral resection |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Saptarshi Mukherjee || Dr. Atanu Jana || Dr. Shashanka Dhanuka || Dr. Tapan Kumar Mandal || Dr. Tapas Kumar Majhi |
Abstract: Bladder endometriosis is a rare pathological entity that is quite difficult to diagnose. We present a very rare case of isolated urinary bladder endometriosis in a 28year old woman with a prior history of caeserian section. She was managed by transurethral resection of the endometrial mass and post operatively medical treatment was provided. This report emphasizes the high clinical suspicion required for early management of such a case and the role of transurethral resection as a minimally invasive effective surgical procedure in selected cases.

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Lalji G Valiya || Bhavin B Padhariya || Seema N Baxi |
Abstract: Background: Palpable head and neck swellings include various non-neoplastic and neoplastic lesions of lymph node, salivary gland, thyroid gland and soft tissue. Proximity of tissues of various types and wide range of primary and metastatic neoplasm are responsible for this site being the most common in FNAC diagnosis. Aim of the study was to assess the spectrum of various pathological conditions detected on FNAC in patients with palpable head and neck lesions. Methods: A total of 1063 patients were studied over a period of two years from January 2014 to December 2015. Stained smears made from aspirated material were reported by pathologists according to standard criteria.................

Abstract: In 2005, Government of India launched National rural health mission in hopes to bridge the gap between healthcare delivery system to the needed community. The key component in achieving this is by ASHA WORKER-a honorary volunteer from the community itself with minimum qualifications,and trained to be the link activist for making the community meet its health needs to the health care delivery. Over years they proved a great benefit and improvement in health parameters,causing government to further extend it into 2017 year.............

Abstract: Background and Aims: Intraperitoneal instillation of local anesthetics has been shown to minimize post‑operative pain after laparoscopic surgeries. We compared the antinociceptive effects of intraperitoneal dexmedetomidine or tramadol combined with bupivacaine to intraperitoneal Bupivacaine alone in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Abstract: Height of Vertical Dimension Occlusion is the vertical distance between maxilla and mandibula, measured at two anatomical point from Subnasal point on maxilla to Menton point on mandibula. VDO height can affect mastication, fonetic, and esthetic functions. The purpose of this study is to determine the convertion values of VDO height to length of right hand fingers among Batak Toba ethnic with Class I Angle Occlusion aged 19-25 years. Convertion of VDO to fingers method can be used for facial reconstruction during loss of VDO height............

Title | : | Solid Papillary Carcinoma of Breast: A Rare Case Report |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Shravasti Roy || Indranil Das || Subhra Bilas Sil || Subrata Chakraborty |
Abstract:Solid papillary carcinoma of breast is rare variety of breast cancer. Here we report one such case of a 46 year female patient presented with painless lump in left breast. After provisional diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in fine needle aspiration cytology, the patient underwent modified radical mastectomy. On histopathology, diagnosis of solid papillary carcinoma of breast was made. The tumor was node negative and with strong ER & PR expression and Chromogranin A expression. Increasing awareness of this clinicopathologic entity would be helpful in proper diagnosis and formulating treatment plan..............

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to assess the resistance to cyclic fatigue of four nickel-titanium(NiTi) files after the immersion in sodium hypochlorite(NaOCl) solution in static condition. Methods: A total of 60 new Twisted Files, Hyflex files, Heroshaper files, Protaper files were tested. Fifteen files of the same brand were randomly assigned to four groups (n = 15) and submitted to the static immersion protocol in 5.25 % NaOCl at 37°C. Resistance to cyclic fatigue was determined by counting the numbers of cycles to failure in a 60 °curve with a 5-mm radius. Data were analysed by two-way analyses of variance. Results: Resistance to cyclic fatigue of the same NiTifile was not significantly affected by immersion in NaOCl (P > .05). ...............

Abstract: Parapharyngeal space tumors are rare tumors comprising less than 1% of all head and neck neoplasms. Majority of these tumors (70–80%) are benign1 while 20–30% of these tumors are malignant. They can arise from any structure contained within the parapharyngeal space.The parapharyngeal space is a space lateral to the upper pharynx shaped like an inverted pyramid, extending from the skull base superiorly to the greater cornu of the hyoid bone inferiorly. The parapharyngeal space consists of two compartments..............

Abstract: Dry eye is very commonly seen in diabetic patients and it needs to be detected and treated early. The purpose of this study is to measure tear film parameters in diabetic patients using tests like Schirmer's test and Tear film Break Up Time (T-BUT) and to correlate them with duration of diabetes mellitus. This is a cross sectional study which included 200 eyes of 100 adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The duration of diabetes was noted. All patients underwent measurement of T-BUT in both eyes. After 30 minutes, Schirmer's test was performed with anesthesia with eyes closed............

Abstract: Diameter of IVC on CT axial section is a important predictor of hypotension in blunt abdominal trauma. CT scan of abdomen is usually requested whenever there is hemoperitoneum/ free fluid noted on FAST USG imaging in emergency department. The diameter of IVC was measured at infrarenal part. In our review of 25 cases of MDCT abdomen in blunt abdominal trauma, 40% of the cases had FIVC and there was moderate degree of hemoperitoneum.25 cases revealed, 56% of splenic injury out of which 10% has FIVC, 25% of liver injury out of which 20% has FIVC and 20% of renal injury out of which 5% has FIVC............

Abstract: Lesions of the salivary glands present an interesting subject matterbecause of their great histologic diversification. This study was carried out to study the histopathological spectrum of salivary gland lesions and to know their pattern of distribution. The study was done with retrospective data from August 2012 to September 2014 and in the department of Pathology Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada. Out of total 53 cases, 41(77.35%) were neoplastic and 12(22.64%) were non neoplastic. Predominance of females was observed with M: F ratio of 0.8:1. The mean age observed was 46.7 years with age range of 12 to 75 years. Benign tumors outnumbered the malignant ones..........
