Abstract: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) exhibits dyslipidemia which is well known traditional risk factors for vascular complications. So, this present study was planned to evaluate whether hemodialysis has an effect on the lipid profile of the CRF patients. Present study were divided into three groups, Group-I: healthy controls (35), Group-II:CRF patients who never undergone hemodialysis ( 30) and Group-III: CRF patients on hemodialysis (25). Serum samples from patients and healthy subjects were obtained and analyzed for lipid profile. Serum triglyceride and VLDL levels were significantly higher in group-II and III when compared to controls................

Abstract: Prostate cancer is more common in the western countries, least common in Asia, and the leading cause of cancer deaths in males worldwide. Individuals who have first-degree family members with prostate cancer have double the risk of getting disease. Risk factors for prostate cancer include familyhistory,genetics,diet, medication, infectious disease and sexual factors. Published animal research studies indicate that basal cells developed cancerous tumors, which appeared identical to human samples. Initially adenocarcinoma a condition known as carcinoma in situ or prostate intraepithelial neoplasia(PIN).Although there is no proof that PIN is a precursor, it is closely associated with cancer..........

Abstract: Most of the bleeding cannot be controlled by usual surgical techniques employed in soft tissue surgery like identification and ligation of vessels. In this situation induced hypotensive anesthesia appears as an ideal method to decrease the blood loss and amount of transfusions following orthognathic surgery. In this study comparison of blood loss in orthognathic surgery with normal and hypotensive anaesthesia is evaluated

Abstract: In congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), chest tube insertion at repair could determine rapid over- expansion of hypoplasticlungs , increasing the risk of pneumothorax. Therefore in our institution no chest tube drainage at CDH repair was inserted in patients of 2 out of 4 PSU to allow to expand of lungs at their own pace, making it possible to estimate their degree of hypoplasia on post-operative CXR. Afterwards few patients needed chest tube drainage for cardiopulmonary distress due to pleural effusion (PE) during post-operative course.........

Title | : | Congenital Amputation of Limbs: Meromelia |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Sunita Nayak || Muktikanta Khatua || Suren Prasad Dash |
Abstract: Meromelia is a partial absence of a limb or absence of part of the limb so that hands or feet are attached to the body like stumps. Such shrunken and deformed extremities are caused mainly by genetic factors, but some teratogenic (or environmental) factors have been identified, such as the use of thalidomide which was used in between 1957-62 for morning-sickness. The antenatal period of the case presented here was medically unsupervised but uneventful. The baby had bilateral upper limb Meromelia. Except for the young age of mother, there was no other obvious risk factor in this case...........

Abstract: The port of a dental prosthesis removable evil perhaps conceived mechanical source of irritation, which in the absence of a rigorous hygiene and of a regular follow-up in the doctor dentist can support the appearance of stomatitis under prosthetic. A study was carried out on the level of the dental service of medicine of the teaching hospital Sidi-Beautiful-Abbots to evaluate the prevalence of this lesion. 37,1% of our population of study suffered from prosthetic stomatitis with an average age of 57,19±1,28. We also made an approach on the risk factors of appearance of this lesion............

Title | : | Hemolytic Transfusion Reaction due to Anti-JKa |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Swathandran Hamsavardhini || P.Arumugam |
Abstract: Kidd system antibodies occur only as immune antibodies and are characteristically difficult to detect. They show variability in immunoglobulin class, sub-class and serological characteristic. Kidd antibodies are dangerous as they may cause severe acute hemolytic transfusion reaction and delayed hemolytic transfusion reaction. A 19 year old male, case of carcinoma prostate with the history of previous red cell (RBC) transfusions was admitted to hospital for radiotherapy with severe anemia. On admission hemoglobin (Hb) level was 5.5 gm and hematocrit (Ht) 18%. The blood sample of the patient was sent to laboratory for serologic testing since RBC transfusions were required.........

Authors | : | Dr.S.Shanmugapriya || Dr.G.V.Murali Gopika Manoharan || Dr.V.Aarthi Nisha |
Abstract: Dandy–Walker syndrome is one of the rare congenital abnormality affecting the cerebellum of the brain. It is associated with the hypoplasia of cerebellar vermis, a cystic dilatation of fourth ventricle resulting in an enlarged posterior fossa. Although, clinical findings like macrocephaly, ataxia, nystagmus hydrocephalus, increased intra cranial pressure etc may be the usual presentations due to cerebral malformation, oral findings are rare. Here, we report a case of 15 year old boy with Dandy Walker syndrome exhibiting multiple oral manifestations.
