Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr G Partha Saradhi Reddy || Dr Anusha Pateel |
Abstract: By definition uterine rupture means breach in the continuity of the uterine wall beyond 28 weeks of gestation. If it occurs before 28 weeks it is said to be perforation. In True or complete rupture,uterine cavity communicates with peritoneal cavity and is associated with bleeding into peritoneal cavity involving the uterine vessels.In occult or incomplete rupture, uterine cavity and peritoneal cavity doesn't communicate and is separated by visceral peritoneum or broad ligament,may be associated with large amount of bleeding concealed

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr.Kashapogu Archana || Dr. Pinnamaeni pawankalyan || Dr Sambashiva reddy || , Dr Venugopal Sharma |
Abstract: Background: Peak expiratory flow rate is a widely accepted parameter for the assessment of lung function. It has gained universal acceptance in view of the simple non-invasive technique involved in testing, the wide availability of small portable flow meters and high correlation of values with the standard spirometric values. The PEFR values vary among geographical areas depending on the ethnic race and the local factors. . Hence there is a need to establish the norms of PEFR for each geographic area for reference in clinical practice.............

Authors | : | Akriti Jaura |
Abstract: According to WHO dental caries is one of the most prevalent infectious diseases1. A complex intercourse between a host, a agent and environmental factors results in dental caries. In India the prevalence of dental caries is 60-80% amongstchildren2. MUTANS STREPTOCOCCUS (MS) are important agent factors and major causative bacteria implicated in dental caries3,4. Many studies show direct relationship between the occurrence of caries lesion and salivary step MUTANS STREPTOCOCCUS (MS).

Title | : | Evaluation and Comparison of Force Decay Characteristics of Latex andNon-Latex Orthodontic Elastics in Vitro Study |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Renuka Patel || Dr.Falguni Mehta || Dr. Swati Khonde || Dr. Ashish Pandey |
Abstract: Elastics are a source of continuous orthodontic force with considerable force decay through the first day of use, most of the decay is in the first hour. There is hardly any phase of fixed orthodontic treatment which is completed without their use. They provide the reliable force delivery and are most economical. The present in vitro study was undertaken to evaluate force decay characteristic of orthodontic latex and non-latex elastics over 36hours.120 samples (Latex elastics-60 and Non-latex elastics-60) were mounted between crimpable hook and molar hook on the acrylic typhodonts at the 25mm distance with split mouth design (right side-latex elastic and left side- non-latex elastic) for intermaxillary and intramaxillary pattern............

Abstract: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) affecting the colon and rectum, with increasing incidence and prevalence.(1–3) The main goal of UC therapy is the induction and maintenance of long-term corticosteroid-free clinical remission.Mucosalhealing is also considered one of the main aims of UC treatment since it has been associated with improved patient outcomes.(4, 5) Aminosalicylates and corticosteroids have shown to beeffective for the induction of clinical remission. However, up to 20% of UC patients become steroid dependent at 1 year.(6, 7)............

Abstract: Total Hip Replacement is an established orthopedic procedure. It is donethrough both anterior and posterior approaches. Results are variable depending on the approachand location rates are much higher when done with posterior approach............
Keywords: THR, Dislocation Rates, Anterior, Posterior approach
[1]. References from bone and joint journal .A paper recently published had shown dislocation rates in range of 4%in western
population.
[2]. Weedem SH ;Paprosky WG, Bowling JW; in his paper in 2003 ;found decreased dislocation rate compared to this series.

[4]. Thompson r, kana RL, et al. had similar paper in 2002 with complications and short term outcomes in THR patients regarding
dislocation rates.
[5]. Relevance of this study is that in Indian patients the dislocation rates following THR is higher when done through Posterior
approach. This could be attributed to their squatting habbits and faulty postures. So, using anterior approach could be much better.

Case presentation: We present the case report of a 32 year male patient, mechanic by occupation with 6 month old history of head injury with clavicle fracture presenting with partial claw hand. Initially thought to be brachial plexus injury but examination and radiological evaluation revealed a large mass of mature bone in brachialis muscle. Intraoperatively the mass of bone was found to be in close proximity with median nerve. The mass was excised in total and postoperatively patient's deformity improved over a period of one year.............

Abstract: Background: Fast and secure identification processes in forensic odontology can be a very difficult process. Probably the most common techniques used are Dental, fingerprint and DNA comparisons. Since these techniques cannot always be used, it is necessary to apply different and less known techniques such as cheiloscopy. Due to its special features, lip groove can be used successfully in human identification. Cheiloscopy can pivotal role in identifying unknown persons both dead and alive.............

Title | : | Embryological Basis And Clinical Importance of the Variant Branching Pattern of the Axillary Artery |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Shilpi Agarwal || Rekha Lalwani || C S Ramesh Babu |
Abstract: The arterial pattern of the upper limb is one of the systems that display many variations in the adult human body. Accurate information regarding these variations is important during vascular & reconstructive surgery and also in evaluation of angiographic images. Axillary artery is the direct continuation of the subclavian artery from the outer border of the first rib. The course of the axillary artery is anatomically divided into three parts by the pectoralis minor muscle. The variant case was found during the routine dissection classes in the Department of Anatomy at LLRM Medical College on a 40-year old formalin fixed female cadaver.............

Title | : | A Prospective Study of the Clinico-Aetiological Profile of Hyponatremia in ICU Patients |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Shanawaz OU || Najeeb Behzad |
Abstract: Hyponatremia is a disorder that is commonly seen in ICU patients. Hyponatremia occurrence in ICU patients is estimated to be approximately 12%, even though the exact occurrence may vary. The variation in incidence perhaps might have been influenced by the criteria selected for hyponatremia estimation, as well as its antecedent causes. The most frequently used value of serum sodium concentration to be considered as hyponatremia is below 135 mEq/l [1,2]. By definition hyponatremia is nothing but an excess of body water relative to sodium. Amongst all electrolyte abnormalities, hyponatremia is the freequently reported one and is
found in 6% of all hospitalized patients [3,4].............

Title | : | Treatment Choice of Dental Implants Over Endodontic therapy – worth the Risk? |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Mayuri Naik || Ida De Noronha De Ataide |
Abstract: Dentistry has evolved tremendously in the past decade and various treatment options available have left the dentists flustered, so as to choose the best treatment option. Dental Implants are currently very popular and have garnered a good survival rate as well. But preservation of natural teeth through endodontic therapy has always been given priority and provided better success rates in the long run. Thus at times, it could be a dilemma for the dentist to choose between dental implants and endodontic therapy. Hence it is necessary that a thorough evaluation and a common consensus have to be reached to formulate discreet criteria in choosing the
treatment options.............
