Abstract: Blood stream infections related to central venous catheterization are one of the major device-associated infections reported. Patients admitted in critical care units requiring central venous catheterization and presenting with signs of septicemia during catheterization period were investigated for catheter-related blood stream infections (CRBSI). Approximately 200,000 cases of Bacteraemia occur annually with mortality rate ranging from 20% to 50%. Site of insertion of catheter and duration of catheterization did not show the influence on the CRBSI rate. Since central venous catheters are increasingly being used in the critical care, regular surveillance for infection associated them are essential.

Abstract: Introduction : Radical cystectomy with lymphadenectomy is the gold standard treatment for nonmetastatic, muscle invasive or high risk, nonmuscle invasive Transitional cell carcinoma. Radical cystectomy entails simultaneous surgery on the urinary tract, intestines, and lymph nodes; hence, complications frequently occur after this extensive procedure. Materials & methods : A standard surgical procedure was performed in all patients, including meticulous iliopelvic lymphadenectomy with en bloc RC. All complications within 30 days of surgery were graded according to an established 5-grade Clavien Dindo system. Results : During the study period between May 2015.......

Abstract: Despite increasing attention to provide clinical knowledge to preclinical medical students with early patient exposures, little is known about associated outcomes for students. In this study we have compared two groups where one group of preclinical students was faced to traditional teaching method and other group was exposed to early clinical settings. Early clinical exposure is always one of the biggest concerns for Ist year MBBS medical students who will be going to have clinical educations in future. ECE can be an important and efficient factor in improving the learning ability of students, increases motivation among students and can be a great help in the recall of knowledge in medical students. It has been also found that early clinical exposure (ECE) for medical students has been proposed as an effective factor in reducing stress and motivating toward the rest of their education as a clinical student..............

Abstract: Background Solitary thyroid lesions are a common presentation in the surgical OPD. The significance of solitary nodule is of its malignant potential. Over all the reported rate of malignancy is 8-12%, even increasing further up to 18 to 20%. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment cures the patient since thyroid carcinoma is most curable among all cancers. Methods We reviewed a total of 245 cases with thyroid lesions from medical records of our hospital that underwent appropriate treatment from January 2012- December 2017. Out of these 245 cases 97 cases were diagnosed as solitary thyroid nodule (STN). Apart from routine investigations, thyroid functional status was assessed. All the patients underwent USG, FNAC of the nodule preoperatively. Hemi-thyroidectomy........

Abstract: To study the effect of nickel chloride on bone composition of mice, a number of biophysical and biochemical parameters have been made use. The animals were divided into control and experimental and further subdivided into three groups I, II and III according to the dose of nickel chloride (NiCl2) administered to them i.e. 5.8, 12.8 and 28.2 mg/kg body weight, respectively. Femur bones were obtained by sacrificing the animals three weeks after weaning them once a week. The percentage loss between the wet weight and dry weight of femur in control animals was found to be 32.5+1.5 .In the three experimental groups I,II and III, the percentage loss was 30.4+1.4, 35.3+2.3 and 38.9+2.2 respectively. The percentage loss between the wet weight in wet water and dry weight in wet water was 36.1+2.3 in the controls and 36.6+1.9, 39.5+2.2 and 51.1+3.1 respectively in the three experimental groups.

Abstract: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a slow degenerative joint disease involving the cartilage and many of its surrounding tissues. It ultimately leads to joint failure with pain and disability, causing the greatest burden to the population as pain and stiffness in these large weight bearing joints often requires surgical intervention. Bilateral osteoarthritis of hip in a young adult is a less common disease and the following is a case report of one such patient operated upon in a tertiary health care center.
