Abstract: Introduction- Dyslipidemia, which is associated with hypertension, has been recognized as independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, a leading diagnosis for visits to physicians and cause of death. Age and gender differences also affect serum lipids considerably.Hypertensive subjects frequently have higher cholesterol levels than normotensive subjects.Though no specific pattern of dyslipidemia has been consistently reported among hypertensive individuals, many studies have shown that total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), and virtually all fractions of lipoproteins tend to be more frequently abnormal among hypertensive patients than in the general population. Aims and Objectives-To assess the correlation between hypertension and various parameters of Dyslipidemia..............

Abstract: In a developing country like India, which is endemic for tuberculosis, patients presenting with intestinal obstruction are often misdiagnosed as abdominal tuberculosis. Similarly, Crohn's disease with increasing incidence is being treated with anti tubercular therapy leading to late diagnosis with increased morbidity and mortality. I am hereby presenting a case series of 3 cases who were being mistreated as intestinal tuberculosis and were later diagnosed as Crohn's disease after surgical intervention. Such cases require a deep study, so that undue intervention and anti tubercular therapy can be avoided

Abstract: Among HIV-HCV co-infected patients all patients cannot afford the treatment of HCV. The aim is to study the natural history of disease in HIV-HCV co-infected patients on Anti Retroviral Therapy( ART) who could not take treatment for HCV. We hypothesized that Anti Retroviral Therapy will help in decreasing the disease progression of HCV and there will not be much difference in prognosis who are additionally treated with anti HCV drugs. Methods: 145 patients are included in this study who are HIV HCV co-infected who are on ART. Only 40 patients has been treated for HCV in some point of their life. We compared the immunological profile of two groups and paired t test was used to compare it. CD4 count was calculated by Fluorescence Activated Cell sorter.......

Abstract: Background: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) can be associated with any condition that causes pressure on the median nerve at the wrist. Some speculate that carpal tunnel syndrome is provoked by repetitive movement and manipulating activities and that the exposure can be cumulative. The relationship between BMI, body fat and CTS is due to increased fat deposition in the carpal canal or higher hydrostatic pressure in the carpal tunnel in obese subjects compared to normal or slender individuals. CTS will be common in those who are frequent users of the keyboard, but in societies where livelihood is dependent on agricultural activities, it will be common in those who have to perform manual labour...............

Abstract: Sudden onset sensorineural hearing loss is a medical emergency and exact cause is not known in 90 % of cases. Systemic corticosteroids is used in clinical practice as a primary treatment, although there is doubt regarding its efficacy. Several other forms of treatment have been studied, such as plasmaexpanders, carbogen, antiviral therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, antioxidants. The objective of studywas to evaluate clinical features of idiopathic sudden onset sensorineural hearing loss and its outcome on patients after treatment with oral steroids, antiviral and methylcobalamine injection . A non randomized control trial consisting of 70 cases over a period of 2 years were taken. Efficacy of treatment was based on relief of symptoms, pure tone average pre and post treatment. Hence study proved to be effective treatment option for idiopathic sudden onset sensorineural hearing loss

Abstract: The syndrome of painful ophthalmoplegia consists of periorbital or hemicranial paincombined with ipsilateral ocular motor nerve palsies, oculosympathetic paralysis, and sensory loss in the distribution of the ophthalmic and occasionally the maxillary division of the trigeminal nerve. Various combinations of these cranial nerve palsies may occur, localizing the pathological process to the region of the cavernous sinus/superior orbital fissure. We are presenting a case report on THS. The patient presented with complete ptosis, unilateral headache and diminished vision. On examination there was complete ophthalmoplegia and diminished sensation over the area supplied by 1st and 2nd division of trigeminal nerve. CEMRI brain revealed enhancing soft tissue thickening along right cavernous sinus extending right orbital apex without any e/o filling defect in cavernous sinus or dilated SOV suggestive of THS. Other differential diagnosis were excluded on the basis of careful history, examination and investigations.

Abstract: Labor is defined as the process of regular uterine contraction leading to progressive effacement and dilatation of the cervix and birth of the baby. Induction of labor is an intervention designed to artificially initiate labor. Induction should only be considered when it is felt that the benefits of the delivery outweigh the potential maternal and fetal risks of awaiting spontaneous labor. Several methods are available for cervical ripening like prostaglandins, misoprostol, oxytocin, nitric oxide donors, mechanical methods like hygroscopic cervical dilators and amniotomy. The ideal agent is yet to be found .This is a prospective randomized controlled study conducted in the department of OBS and GYNAE in BABA SAHEB AMBEDKAR HOSPITAL............

Abstract: Introduction: Intrathecal anesthesia and epidural anesthesia (EA) are the most popular regional anesthesia techniques used for surgeries below umbilicus. EA is more versatile in providing anesthesia, analgesia and treatment of chronic disease syndromes. It provides better postoperative pain control and more rapid recovery from surgery. It also provides effective prolonged surgical anesthesia, prolonged postoperative analgesia, reduces the incidence of hemodynamic changes and reduces the incidence of PDPH as the dura is not pierced. Aims And Objectives: To Compare with the efficacy of lumbar epidural block with 0.5% bupivacaine 10ml with Fentanyl 50μg and 0.5%bupivacaine 10ml with butorphanol 1mg in lower limb surgeries focusing on Onset and duration of analgesia, Cardio respiratory effects, Sedation, Adverse effects......

Abstract: The term diabetes mellitus describes a complex metabolic disorder characterized by chronic hyper- glycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. Inadequate insulin secretion and or diminished tissue responses to insulin in the complex pathways of hormone action results in deficient insulin action on target tissues, which leads to abnormalities of carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism. Impaired insulin secretion and or action may coexist in the same patient (1, 2). Most cases of diabetes can be classified into two broad etiopathogenetic categories : type 1 diabetes, which is characterized by an absolute deficiency of insulin secretion; or type 2 diabetes, which results from a combination of resistance to insulin action and an inadequate compensatory insulin secretory response.

Abstract: Pregnancy induced hypertension is characterized by abnormal blood pressure, proteinuria and edema that usually develops after the 20th week of pregnancy. The pregnant woman's body provides daily doses of 50 to 330 mg calcium to support the developing fetal skeleton. Early studies of blood calcium levels during pregnancy in humans found a significant decrease in the total serum calcium as pregnancy progressed. Regulation of intracellular calcium plays a key role in hypertension. Hypertension has been estimated to complicate 5% of all pregnancies and 11% of first pregnancies. Half of the pregnant women with hypertension have pre-eclampsia.

Abstract: The goal of periodontal therapy is to reconstruct the lost tissues to a functional state that is similar or identical to the tissue that has been lost due to disease process. One of the oldest method used as a scaffold is the fetal membranes. The fetal membrane posses various properties which gives light towards its use in periodontal regenerative therapy. This paper reviews the historical background, properties and the application of placental membranes in periodontics.
