Abstract: Due to increased number of bear mauling in central India, we studied the various factors in bear mauling and outcome of management in GMCH from 2014 to 2017. A total of 26 cases evaluated which were predominantly male. It is obvious that involvement of head, neck face and upper limb was in maximum cases. The age wise study shows that there was equal involvement of people from young, middle aged and older ones. It was a retrospective analysis of the reported cases. Most victims suffered from multiple injuries. We observed that in 85% of cases of mutilation overhead neck and face, it was most common site of bear mauling. Probably, it is because usually the attacks by bear are mainly on standing posture with hind limbs. All the patients were treated by a team led by surgeons including dental cum oral surgeon,............

Abstract: Hearing loss is the most prevalent chronic condition which can impact the quality of life not only of the individual who has hearing loss, but also their frequent communication partners, employers, family members, friends, and acquaintances. Otosclerosis is a localized hereditary disorder affecting endochondral bone of the otic capsule that is characterized by disordered resorption and deposition of bone. An otosclerotic lesion consists of areas of bone resorption, new bone formation, vascular proliferation and a connective tissue stroma. This present work has been undertaken to evaluate the patient of clinically suspected otosclerosis on the basis of patients history, clinical examination and audiological test (pure tone audiometry and impedence audiometry) who visited in the department of ENT, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati.

Abstract: Long span partially edentulous areas require prosthetic rehabilitation.Planning the right prosthesis is important for obtaining properesthetics, phonetics, ease of hygiene maintenance, distribution of occlusal forces on underlying or adjacent supporting areas within physiologic limits besides satisfying all biomechanical principles of designed prosthesis. One of the viable options having all theabove mentioned advantages in a single prosthesis designed for long span edentulous area is attachment retained removable partial denture. Such prosthesis is more or less equivalent to the fixed prosthesisfor the patient in terms of support, stability, and retention; moreover they are very convenient for hygiene maintenance by the wearer andhelps in preservation of the remaining dentition under occlusal forces by uniform distribution among alveolar bone in edentulous area and abutment teeth. This article presents rehabilitation of suchlong-span edentulous cases with attachment-retained removable prosthesis.
