Abstract: Objectives: Radiographers are the back bone of the radiology and Imaging department as the production of good diagnostic value medical image is based on the skill of the radiographer. Radiography graduates learn in college and hospital does not necessarily give them the skills they need for their job. This paper addresses the issue of the gap between theory and practice in the radiography profession in the light of literature and makes some recommendations accordingly to close the gap. Methods: A quantitative study design.......

Abstract: Nephrotic syndrome is the clinical manifestation of glomerular diseases associated with heavy (nephrotic- range) proteinuria>3.5g/24hr or a urine protein : creatinine ratio >2. The triad of clinical findings associated with nephritic syndrome arising from the large urinary losses of protein are hypoalbuminaemia (≤2.5g/dl) ,edema ,and hyperlipidemia (cholesterol >200mg/dl). Nephrotic syndrome is a disease with primary glomerular abnormality with a relapsing course and usually responds to steroid treatment. It is because of alteration of permeability of the glomerular capillary wall , which results in inability to restrict the urinary loss of proteins. Patients with nephrotic Syndrome losses 25-hydroxyvitamin D in the urine and can have low blood levels of this metabolite. These......

Abstract: Background : In India ,major cause of anaemia is nutritional which is treatable with medicines. The inherited disorders of haemoglobin synthesis are one of the important public health problems in India and anaemia in general population. Identifying these disorders in anaemic patient is immensely important epidemiologically and for the prevention of these disorders. Methods : A hospital based cross sectional study was undertaken in which 50 anaemic patients with Hb level <10 gm/dl admitted in Paediatrics Department of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science , Ranchi over a period of one year, with no previous history of known haemoglobinopathies and no history of blood transfusion within 45 days were selected as cases.......

Abstract: Introduction: During recent pandemic of Covid 19 human corona viruses have been detected in age of 1 mo-19 years with upper and lower respiratory symptoms but their relationship with severe respiratory illness is little known. Objective: To know about respiratory pattern of illness in Covid 19 positive children Covid 19 positive children aged 1-19 year admitted at RIMS, Ranchi. Nasal and throat swab were tested for HCoV species by RT-PCR. Demographic and medical data were collected medical record department. Method :The present study was conducted in Department .of Pediatrics and new trauma centre ,RIMS, Ranchi, case registered in study was interrogated for detailed history and clinical examinations from January 2020 to December 2020. Results: Among total 138 pediatric age group Covid 19 positive patient admitted at Rims ,Ranchi 64(46%)patients were symptomatic

Abstract: Bond strengths achieved while testing in laboratories are the key for selection of adhesive systems. Longevity of a restorations can be predicted to some extent based on bond strength of adhesives. There have been several discrepancies within the reported bond strengths of various materials. Bond strength of the adhesive system is affected by a large number of factors, which makes the comparison among studies difficult. Throughout the years, laboratory evaluations have been the basis for clinicians to choose the adhesive systems in their daily practice. However the validity of bond strength tests to predict clinical performance of dental adhesives is yet to be justified. The realization of an adequate and valid method for assessing bond strength is a difficult endeavor. Different types of test have been utilized to.....

Abstract: Background: The aim was to determine utility of Cartridge based nucleic acid amplification test (CBNAAT) in diagnosis of mycobacterium tuberculosis in children with neurotuberculosis diagnosed on the basis of clinical evaluation, CSF findings and neuroimaging.
Methods: A hospital based cross sectional study was conducted in Pediatric Department of RIMS , Ranchi from April 2020 to December 2020. Total 30 children of age group of 2 months to 12 years with the diagnosis of tubercular meningoencephalitis (TBME) on the basis of clinical evaluation, CSF examination and neuroimaging were included in the study.
Results: A total 30 children were enrolled. Maximum number of cases admitted with TBME were among 1-5 years of age group (60.91%). CSF and gastric aspirate were examined by CBNAAT for MTB. 2 (6.6%) children had CBNAAT positivity in CSF.......

Abstract: Background: Human placental lactogen (HPL) is a hormone synthesized by the placenta modulates fetal growth. The concentration of HPL in the maternal circulation offers an avenue to assess the growth of the developing fetus in pregnancy and it is essential to establish the feasibility of this potential fetal growth monitoring tool in this locality. We have selected this study to evaluate the relationship that HPL has with fetal growth parameters. Material and Methods: This was a prospective cross-sectional study conducted over a 6-month period in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital that involved 100 healthy pregnant women. An ultrasound scan was done for all the subjects and blood.......

Abstract: Background and objectives: Induction of labour is commonly performed in the obstetric department. Around 20% of deliveries are initiated using induction methods. When the risk of continuing the pregnancy is more than benefits of delivery an induction for labour is preferred. Common indication for induction of labour include maternal medical conditions like hypertension or diabetes mellitus, premature rupture of membranes, chorioamnionitis, placental abruption or foetal conditions like foetal growth restriction or oligohydramnios and post term pregnancy& post-dated Cervical ripening has a major in successful induction of labour and vaginal delivery. It is the first component of induction of labour where in cervix is softened in preparation of labour. Mechanical methods like........
