Abstract: Liver has complex system of blood flow. It receives blood from two sources, which are the hepatic artery and portal vein. Hepatic artery forms only about 25% of the inflow, rest 75% is formed by the portal vein. Venous outflow of the liver is via three hepatic veins into the inferior vena cava. Liver is one such organ in the human body which is frequently affected by trauma, various tumours, or failure which may require surgery for resection of segments or part of liver. Previously cadaveric liver transplant was the only option available for transplant recipients. Now a days the live donor liver transplant [LDLT] has emerged as a latest surgery. The resection of segments in the living donor requires detailed study of.......

Abstract: Introduction: The gummy smile caused by extruded maxillary incisors was successfully treated with their intrusion by miniscrews. In order to accelerate this treatment, a minimally invasive surgical technique called corticision was introduced. The aim of this clinical trial was to investigate the effect of corticision on the duration and rate of intrusion of maxillary incisors in patients with gummy smiles with deep bite.
Methods: Fourteen Egyptian adult patients (twelve females and two males) with gummy smile and deep bite were divided into two equal groups; corticision with intrusion group and intrusion without corticision group. The intrusion was done with two NiTi closed coil springs attached to the two miniscrews inserted between the roots of maxillary lateral......

Abstract: Lower limb ischemia is a peripheral arterial stenosis or occlusion is predominantly caused by atherosclerosis and/or thromboembolic diseases which results in obstruction of blood flow in the arteries exclusive of the coronary and intracranial vessels. Stenosis and occlusion produce signs and symptoms that are related to organs supplied by the artery as lower limb- claudication, rest pain and gangrene. (1) Although only 12% of people younger than 50 years of age suffer from symptoms of intermittent claudication, this figure rises to 5% in those aged 50 to 70years and to 10% in those older than 70 years. (2) Ischemia inhibits the ability of the wound to heal, further complicated by development of infection and gangrene. (3) Intermittent claudication, heralded by pain in leg muscles during ambulation.......

Abstract: This case report describes the successful use of three techniques - Crown lengthening, depigmentation and lip repositioning for reduction of excessive smile display as well as dark pigmented gums. A gummy smile along with melanin hyperpigmentation of the gingiva are a major concern for a large number of patients visiting the dentist as it can often determine the beauty of a smile and how well a person can function in the society. In this case, a perfect balance of the pink (gingival) display and white (teeth) was managed with three different treatment modalities, which was based on proper diagnosis. Crown lengthening procedure was performed to correct excessive gingival display due to altered passive eruption where in the gingiva fails to migrate apically in order to attain position 1 mm coronal to CEJ, depigmentation for reduction of hyperpigmentation of the gingiva and upper lip hypermobility was corrected by lip repositioning surgery

Abstract: Background: -Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are emerging multidrug resistant bacterial strains which are posing great therapeutic challenges worldwide. Aim of the study was to find the prevalence of Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA in pus samples and also the drug susceptibility of these MRSA strains. Materials & Methods: - 179 pus samples were collected between September 2019 and January 2020 in the Department of Microbiology, Burdwan Medical College, Burdwan, West Bengal. They were inoculated in Nutrient agar and Blood agar and incubated for 24 hours at 370 C. Standard conventional methods were used for isolation and identification......

Abstract: An adverse drug reaction (ADRs) is an unwanted or harmful reaction experienced following the administration of a drug or combination of drugs. Adverse drug reactions remain a challenge in modern healthcare. They account for about 5% of all hospital admission and cause death in approximately 0.01% patients. These may vary from mild, moderate to severe or lethal reactions. We report a case of Levofloxacin induced Steven Johnson Syndrome in a 70 year old male patient admitted in emergency ward of our college

Abstract: Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder which is characterised by a wide spectrum of clinical symptoms and signs. Aim of the study is to assess the age of onset, gender distribution and clinical presentation of cases admitted in a tertiary care centre in Kerala, India. This was a record based study using medical records of Myasthenia patient admitted in the Neurology department, of Govt. Medical College Hospital Thrissur from August 2012 – July 2017.Results: Male: female ratio in our study was in the ratio 1:1.5. There was a single peak of incidence, in the females between 20-30yrs and in males between 60-70 yrs. Ocular symptoms were the most common.......
