Abstract: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a major growing health issue worldwide. Role of micro nutrients is not well established. Serum Ferritin, an acute phase reactant is a marker of iron stores in the body. Iron overload is increasingly being connected to insulin resistance in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients. Aims & Objectives:1)Study of levels of Serum Iron, Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC), Ferritin in Type 2 Diabetes Patients to find any statistically significant relationship between Iron status and Diabetes mellitus.2)To find association of elevated Serum Ferritin level with Diabetes mellitus & its Correlation with Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1C). Materials & Methods: The Study Population consist of 120 individuals. Out of them 60 were type 2 Diabetes Patients(Cases) and 60 were normal healthy individuals (Controls). Comparison of Serum Iron, TIBC, Ferritin, FBS, PPBS and HbA1C was done between cases & Controls. Correlation of Serum Ferritin with HbA1C in test group was seen..............

Abstract: The aim of this study is to compare the microhardness of a nanohybrid composite resin after brushing with different toothpastes. Rubber moulds were used to prepare 80 composite specimens of 3M ESPE Filtek Z350. The specimens were light cured for 60 seconds, polished and cleaned in distilled water. Specimens were randomly divided into 4 groups of 20 specimens each and subjected to tooth brushing for 2 minutes twice daily with a motorised toothbrush for 30 days. In control group no paste was used with the toothbrush. In other 3 groups, Colgate Total Advanced Whitening toothpaste, Dabur Herbal toothpaste, and Himalaya Complete Care toothpaste were used. Vicker's hardness test was performed for all the specimens. Data obtained in the study was subjected to statistical analysis using One-way Anova........

Abstract: To determine the seroprevalence of leptospirosis among febrile inpatient cases in Guntur Government Hospital, Guntur. Methods: A hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 100 febrile cases admitted to Guntur Government Hospital in Guntur. A survey using a proforma sheet was used to obtain sociodemographic and occupational information. Serum samples were screened for leptospirosis by IgM and IgG enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay test (IgM &IgG ELISA). Results: Antibodies to leptospires were detected in 48 samples for IgM (48%) and 18 samples for IgG(18%) giving an overall seroprevalence of 66%. The seroprevalence was highest among agriculture workers (53.03%) followed by sewage workers (18.1%)), animal handlers (16.6%) butchers (9.09%) and forest workers (3.03%), Seropositivity of Leptospira IgM and IgG antibodies was found.........

Abstract: ObjectivesThis research aims at determining the existence and the type of influence of the different mechanical sample preparations on the dental erosion research results. The research also includes the influence caused by the protection used to isolate parts of the sample surface. MethodsThis research involves fourteen dentin and fourteen enamel samples made of extracted intact human teeth, prepared mechanically in two different ways. We used lemon acid, as the erosion agent, diluted in artificial saliva in concentration of 0.1% with pH of 6.8. In addition, this research also analyzes the effectiveness of the fluoride preparations (a total of five different ones) on the progression of the previously caused erosion. The lemon acid and fluoride preparation treatment is cyclical, for a period of five days. For the purposes of this research, we protected parts of the sample surface...........

Abstract: Intentional replantation can be used for root canal re-treatment when other methods are deemed unsuitable. This procedure is based on the approach used to obtain good clinical outcomes for replantation of an avulsed tooth. The key to a successful procedure is atraumatic extraction and replacement in the socket without damage to the periodontal ligament. This case series presents the long-term outcomes of various cases of intentional replantation, and shows a clear distinction between the treatment outcomes for fused/convergent-and multi-rooted teeth.

Abstract: Dengue is almost endemic all over India. Confirmation of Dengue viral infection is the most important and essential pre-requisite for the managing complications associated with Dengue viral infection. Infection with any of the DENV serotypes may be asymptomatic in the majority of cases or may result in a wide spectrum of clinical symptoms (2), ranging from a mild flu-like syndrome (known as dengue fever [DF]) to the most severe forms of the disease, which are characterized by coagulopathy, increased vascular fragility, and permeability. Efficient and accurate diagnosis of dengue is of primary importance for clinical care (i.e. early detection of severe cases, case confirmation and differential diagnosis with other infectious diseases), surveillance activities, outbreak control, pathogenesis, academic research, vaccine development, and clinical trials. Laboratory diagnosis methods for confirming.........

Materials and Methods: 54 cases of Alcohol dependence syndrome both in patients and out patients attending Narayana General Hospital, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh were recruited in the study and detailed evaluation was done using socio demographic proforma, ICD-10 criteria to arrive at alcohol dependence syndrome diagnosis, CPMS done by interviewing the mother to assess the psychopathology in their children. Results: Mean age group of the patient, spouse and child was 36yrs, 32yrs and 9.3yrs respectively. The present study found significant psychopathology in depression and anxiety in children of alcohol dependent subjects. Older children above 10 years had more psychopathology in symptoms of anxiety and depression when compared to the younger ones......

Abstract: Dental caries is an infectious, communicable disease that acid-forming bacteria of dental plaque can destroy tooth structure in the presence of fermentable carbohydrates such as sucrose, fructose, and glucose. It continuous to be a major problem in dentistry affecting the mankind even today. In this present investigation EPS producing cariogenic Lactobacillus acidophilus were isolated from various dental clinics were analyzed and characterized by phenotypic and 16SrDNA gene sequence for the production of exopolysaccharides. Further, the optimal conditions of temperature (30°C - 45°C) were determined. Lactobacillus acidophilus were identified and screened on the basis of the molecular weight of its plasmid DNA (100 kb). The EPS production by Lactobacillus acidophilus was confirmed by thin layer chromatography (TLC) analysis. Optimization of culture condition for mass EPS yield was studied.........

Abstract: Introduction: The fungi are a diverse group of saprophytic and parasitic eukaryotic organisms. The most important oral yeasts belong to the genus Candida. In recent years there has been an increased interest in infections caused by the opportunistic pathogen Candida. The growing importance of Candida is in part related to the emergence of HIV infection and the more widespread use of immunosuppressive chemotherapy. Identification of infecting strains of Candida is important because isolates of Candidal species differ widely, both in their ability to cause infection and also in their susceptibility to antifungal agents. Aim:The aim of the study is to identify and isolate the candidal species in dental patients by culturing them using Sabouraud's Dextrose Agar and CHROMagar medium Materials And Methods: A cross sectional study was done for.........
