Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Despite the usefulness of stents in the modern urological practice, the patients experience various stent-related symptoms, such as pain, frequency, and urgency causing significant decrease in patient quality of life in both genders. Thus the pharmacologic management with selective alpha-1-blockers and antimuscarinic agents believed to be simpler and less invasive than other ways. AIMS & OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effect of tamsulosin, solifenacin and combination therapy of the two agents in improving the lower urinary tract symptoms of patients with indwelling double-J ureteral stents. MATERIALS & METHODS: A total of 70 patients with ureteral stenting were randomly divided into 4 groups, group I no treatment(control group),group II received tamsulosin 0.4 mg daily, group III received solifenacin 10 mg daily, and group IV combination...........

Abstract: Carcinosarcomas which is also known as Malignant Mixed Mullerian tumor are rare high grade neoplasms. It accounts to about 2-5% of the tumors arising from the body of uterus.Generally occuring in the post menopausal women with more incidence in the blacks as compared to the whites.Carcinosarcomas consists of endometrial adenocarcinomas co - existing with a malignant mesenchymal component. We present a case of 62 years old postmenopausal women presenting in the gynae OPD with complains of abdominal pain and post menopausal bleeding since 2 months. On P/V examination the cervix was displaced high up .USG showed a heterogenous mass filling the endometrial cavity. She was investigated thoroughly. She had no other associated co morbodities.Total abdominal hysterectomy along with bilateral salpingo- oopherectomy was performed on her along with Bilateral pelvic and para-aortic nodes removal. We received the specimen in our pathology department.Histopathological examination revealed a case of Malignant mixed mullerian tumor.

Abstract: Introduction: The birth weight of an infant is a reliable index of intrauterine growth and also a sensitive predictor of newborn's chances of survival, growth and long term physical and psychosocial development. Alsoit is a valuable indicator of maternal health, nutrition and quality of life. LBW is closely associated with fetal and perinatal mortality and morbidity. The various risk factors related with term low birth weight neonates have been a subject of various studies in India. The present study was undertaken to understand the various maternal determinants which influence the birth weight of newborn in this part of country. Materials and Methods: A hospital based cross sectional study was done over a period of one year. 400 term neonates were selected randomly, out...........

Abstract: Background: Aim: To identify the site of primary based on histopathological features in correllation with clinical, radiological and immunohistochemical findings wherever possible. Materials And Methods: A prospective study of 200 cases for a period of 2 yrs. The material was fixed in 10% formalin routinely processed and stained with H&E. Results : out of 200 cases studied most common secondry deposit is adenocarcinoma 152 cases followed by squamous cell carcinoma 21 cases , others 27 cases.most common age group is 40-50 yrs with female preponderance. Most common metastatic site is axillary lymph node 96 cases. Conclusion: The predominant type of deposit was adenocarcinoma . Most common site to show metastasis with known primary was lymphnode i.e.,axillary lymphnode . Most common site involved in metastasis of unknown origin was cervical lymphnode ..

Abstract: Andersen–Tawil syndrome (ATS) is rather unique in the family of channelopathies and is characterized by ventricular arrhythmias, dysmorphic features, and periodic paralysis. ATS is a disorder of cardiac repolarization. This case report presented a case of Andersen–Tawil syndrome (ATS). The patient referred in the study came with hypokalemic periodic paralysis with dysmorphic facial features and ventricular arrhythmia which has close resemblance to Andersen-Tawil syndrome.

Abstract: Fetal rhabdomyoma, is a tumor originating in striated muscle, most commonly in the heart.Extracardiac rhabdomyomas most commonly occur in the head and neck region. They warrant a distinctive diagnosis and need to be differentiated from other malignant tumors like rhabdomyosarcoma in view of its good prognosis. These are benign lesions and complete excision of the tumor is usually curative. Wereport a case of a 5 month old female child who presented with a postauricular swelling since birth. Microscopic examination revealed a cellular fetal rhabdomyoma..

Abstract: Increased awareness and concern about esthetics has resulted in the popularity of many esthetic enhancement procedures.Certain teeth that have been previously treated with bonded restorations may need their replacement after bleaching for better esthetic results; but it has been found that the adhesion between the bonding agent and tooth surface is hampered after bleaching. Our study aimed to evaluate effect of two bonding agents on shear bond strength of bleached enamel with and without use of sodium ascorbate antioxidant. 60 recently extracted intact maxillary anterior teeth were taken for the study. The samples were divided into 3 groups containing 20 samples each: A-Control group; B-Bleached group; C-Antioxidant treated group. All the three groups were then divided into 2 subgroups each (n=10) according to the adhesive used for composite bonding: 1)- 5th gen bonding agent (Adper Single Bond); 2)- 7th gen bonding agent (Scotchbond Universal). Composite cylinders (3x3 mm) were bonded and shear bond strengths were..........

Abstract: Livedo Reticularis refers to a reticular red-violaceous discoloration of the skin. It is secondary to organic or functional disorders of the dermal arteries or arterioles. We report the case of a woman with Parkinson's disease and she developed a Livedo Reticularis resulting of Amantadine.

Abstract: Severe mental illness like schizophrenia has devastating impact on patients as well as their family members. The illness is of chronic nature and patients experience profound disruption to their thoughts and lives. Families of patients face grief, emotional hardship and are frequently forced to assume lifelong care-taking roles. Psycho educational interventions offered to family members of people with schizophrenia have been developing with increasing sophistication. These methods bring about changes in the family emotional atmosphere leading to better compliance and social adjustment in the patients. On this background, the present study aims to examine the knowledge about schizophrenia, QOL, burden of disease, expressed emotions and coping strategies among caregivers of patients with schizophrenia in the context of family psycho education. The objectives were to assess the.........

Abstract: Urethrovaginal fistula is usually seen following obstetric trauma. Trauma, however have being implicated as a cause of fistula worldwide with increasing cases of urogenital fistula due to trauma reported particularly in war torn country. We present a case of 16 year old young lady who developed urethro-vaginal fistula following fall of a collapsed building on her while she was asleep at home. Poly traumatized patient may develop urogenital fistula hence the need for thorough examination.

Abstract: Paraduodenal hernias are unusual conditions, accounting for 0.9% of all intestinal obstructions due to internal abdominal hernias.1Small bowel contents herniate into either left fossa (commonly) or right fossa (very rarely) and produce features of intestinal obstruction.2Pre-operative diagnosis is an arduous task, unless a vigilant approach is entertained. A 19 year old male presented with intestinal obstruction of three days duration. After the initial resuscitation, patient was taken up for laparotomy. A hernial sac with coiled small bowel loops was found in the rightparaduodenalregion. The hernial orifice was widened and flimsy adhesions were released from the posterior part of the membrane. Ladd's procedure..........
